The video poignantly connects modern social habits to deep-seated historical traumas, though it occasionally risks oversimplifying a resilient national identity into digestible lifestyle "obsessions." It offers a meaningful, if somewhat aestheticized, glimpse into the Ukrainian cultural psyche.

FIVE THINGS that Ukrainians might OBSESS aboutAdded:
Greetings, my dear friends.
Today, let's talk about five things that Ukrainians obsess about.
Right. So what do I mean by obsession?
Obsession is according to my research is a continuous powerful idea that cannot be dismissed.
Wow. It's uncontrollable, undeniable, and we cannot help it.
uh at least being aware of it maybe helps our life but I don't think we want to change it.
What do Ukrainians obsess about? Before I continue, I'm in a city center and it's quite hectic. It's very noisy. Uh it's 3:00 p.m. and uh traffic is crazy.
Right. First thing Ukrainians obsess about uh is the nature. Really big love of nature.
Yeah. So it's a big deal for us like we have to have greenery around our houses, places where we can walk around. Parks is a big deal for us. We want to live um next to parks where we can go breathe fresh air and um be surrounded by nature by the green. We consider it to be healthy. We also like to have nature inside of uh buildings.
In my school there were hands inside for children to breathe oxygen. And um yeah, in our apartments, we like to have plants. We also love to go to the sea at least one time per year. It's a must to be out somewhere close to the water swimming, absorbing the sun. H or now it's very very popular to go to the mountains and we have Carpathian mountains. I made videos about it. So this is our obsession. It's a must.
is nature.
Is to be out in the nature. Mountains hor is mor And also on the topic of nature, um, girls obsessed with flowers. We really do. We love the cherry blossom that we have now and all the blossom around us.
Right here there's a chestnut trees blooming and everything else blooming and we love it. The lilac. Um yes, in the photos with flowers. This is um it's a big deal for us and for me especially in my house there are three or four bouquets um dedicated to very important event.
It's a big deal. And um yeah, second thing Ukrainians obsess about is uh making sure that their lives they are very social so socialable and they are heavily dependent on public opinion.
Follow follow crowd and opinions of a crowd. Could be you can come to Ukraine and decide for yourself.
Uh it really matters for us the time that we spend for with our friends uh the time we spend in social settings um that we have friends. It's a big deal.
So I will tell you that uh friends in Ukrainian is drew and to be out to go out and hang out is Julate.
Talking about how we care about public opinion, we also care about how we are dressed. Ukrainians men and women really want to look nice out in the public. You are not allowed to go in Adidas u suit sports outfit to the store in a baggie pants. Well, I don't know fashion changes now, but in the past it was always big deal. We care to look nice.
So this is the third thing we obsessed about girls more and men also making sure your shoes looks nice, making sure you have a nice outfit on.
Maybe something like a brand name. It's a big deal.
Um so Ukrainian word for fashionable is mono. Mono mono.
Is this fashionable?
What's fashionable now this season, spring and summer season in Leviv? Come here and find out.
So this is the most important video for me. Uh it's about fashion and clothes.
So in Soviet Union we did not have clothes just like we did not have many goods like oranges for us was uh really rare fruit that we only ate for new year.
Uh so I will start with this really beautiful dress. I purchased this dress in Poland for 8th of March as a present for myself.
Fourth thing that Ukrainians obsess about maybe in other nations is the same thing is uh children making sure that they have what they need. It's um it's normal and it's accepted and this is how it is in Ukraine. Ukrainian children is de and it's very natural if somebody says my child goes trying to apply to university it's a big deal. You want to you understand the struggle and support because you you understand that the parents really care about their children and their future and they want to give them the their best.
Fifth, the biggest thing in my opinion that Ukrainians obsess about is food.
Yeah, there's a lot to say about it. So food um in Ukraine we have very healthy ingredients uh and our culture is built around food and especially women they uh is their responsibility to cook cook a lot in specific dishes depending on the occasion.
uh we our holidays like Easter or Christmas it's all all around food for Christmas we have 12 dishes we have to have on the table for Easter also specific dishes the evening before the resurrection the day after um at the house you need to have food and we have a specific designated food um that we really care about and it's very important for us and for me especially I'm a sucker for good food uh Baraki or Salad Borch, you will hear discussions about it and you better try. It's a big deal for us.
Uh and it's also opportunity for us to bond um with each other over the table over a nice meal. If somebody comes to the house, it's um proper way to to give them something to eat because they they travel, they were busy and they need to eat. There's no discussion until you know the person is well fed.
Maybe around women it matters that we won't we are worried and maybe it's a little bit our responsibility that people are not hungry like we we need to think like we need to care are you hungry do you need to eat let me feed you it's you will hear this a lot especially from older generation especially grandmothers they say did you eat come have this meal and have more and more because uh especially for And we try to feed men.
It's like our responsibility to feed them.
And it's actually a little bit for us offensive if you will not eat because we feel like we are not um fulfilling our role and this is like our nurturing role.
Maybe like some politician in the past she said Ukrainians think with our bellies. We really care to to to eat well. This is what she argued. Um I don't know could be like this we will take the truth maybe if it sounds harsh it could be the result of famine uh artificial famine created by Soviet um communist party by Stallion and his people that surround him.
it was collectivism but in Ukraine it was direct aimed at destroying our nation. So in 193 from 1932 until 1933 and also there were other years where there was this famine as they were trying to restructure the society and how they work take their take their produce that they grow.
So this has caused from 3 to 7 million people to die because of this collectivization movement. Food was taken from people from private homes and families were starved.
Multiple nations recognize this as a form of genocide.
It could be that genetically it lingers uh with us and we know these harsh times where we had nothing to eat and we understand what it's like uh to suffer this way. So it's a priority for us to make sure that nobody around us is hungry. It really hurts us personally.
Right. So hungry. Hungry is Ukrainian.
To eat.
Do you want to eat?
I want to eat.
Yes. So these are top five obsessions of Ukrainians.
Most likely we know about them and we are not ashamed of them.
And I personally love flowers, love coffee and nice food. And just this is how it is. Thank you for watching this video. Please like it and subscribe to the channel. And thank you for your supportive comments on my previous video.
Bye.
