AI Strategy: Focus on Tactical Wins, Not Hype #shortsAdded:
Now, sometimes it's going to be great to have an LLM that's hooked up to an AI system. I teach architecture, AI architecture. We talk about having those LLM capabilities that are native to the system for very good reasons. But for the core capability of the AI system, it's going to be tactically focused at solving a very narrow business problem. And once you solve one, you move on to the next one. Once you solve that one, you move on to the next one. And pretty soon, you have a collection of AI systems that are able to function on their own. They're able to provide the value that AI is able to bring. They're able to use LLMs when they need them. And that's going to produce a better outcome. It's going to be less money, you know, less hardware and software and talent that's needed to build and deploy these systems where you do it in a very short period of time.
But we're able to see the value come back in a very short period of time because again, they're narrowly focused.
We're not trying to boil the ocean.
People always try to do the moonshots when new technology shows up. We saw the same thing with cloud computing. They're doing the same thing with AI. So, focus on the tactical stuff. Get it right.
Small projects, short durations, short amount of money. And then finally, the hard truth is that most enterprises suck at AI because they chase the hype, not the outcomes and the and confusion, you know, not confidence.
Every conference out there is turned into an AI conference. Generative AI and generative AI would have you. All the cloud conferences, AI conferences. And I understand why. That's where their money's going to be made. So, the cloud technology providers are going to be pushing AI as much as possible. The big consulting companies are doing the same because they view that as a way to drive change. Change is good for them because people have to pay them an hourly rate to help change them.
