[00:02:42]>> Yeah, I have a family history of it. So, I want to get the ball rolling, get out ahead, just to make sure everything's fine.

[00:02:52]>> And they've been kind of scattered, but you know, I don't want to to get too late. Right. Um, so I went to go get it checked out and the doctor was like, "Hey, do you mind giving some blood?" I was like, "Sure." And she goes, "I think we should get you an ultrasound as well."

[00:03:06]And I said, "I'm not pregnant, though."

[00:03:08]>> [laughter] >> It's that brand of humor that keeps us going. Eight weeks after a major member of this program retired. That's why That's why we made it eight weeks. That kind of thing.

[00:03:20]>> Yeah, they don't have much of a sense of humor about stuff.

[00:03:23]>> Yeah. What What are we looking for in the ultrasound? I'm looking for a show worth listening to.

[00:03:31]>> Can I tell you the best thing? The funniest thing I've ever heard surrounding an ultrasound. I'll tell you this then I want you to go on with your gut issues.

[00:03:50]>> We have a uh guys named Chris Comedy All-Star named Pat Pat Godwin who's tremendous, great stand-up comedian. And he was in here one time. Now, he his wife was pregnant and he was a little older, okay? So, they go in now the kid is like 15, I think, you know. I I recently saw him on Facebook. He's like playing drums and singing and stuff with Pat Godwin who's a musician. So, Pat Godwin was in here and his wife is pregnant and they go in for the first ultrasound. And the wife is on the table and the woman s- puts goo all over her stomach. You know, they do that like all over [snorts] the stomach. And Pat Godwin said, "You know, if I had done that, we could have avoided this whole situation." [laughter] The doctor had did not find any goo on that whatsoever.

[00:04:50]And uh he said, "I thought that was one of my b- I doubled over laughing. I thought it was so funny." Uh yesterday, a friend of mine, pickle friend, uh I'm pickleballing today at 1:00.

[00:05:42]>> Yeah. I mean, but he played like even in the lottery commercial, he played like the good-looking guy in the lottery like he's the type of guy that when he comes in a room you just go, "Oh, okay."

[00:05:54]>> So, I played pickleball with him a couple of times a couple of years ago and he quickly said, "You're not good enough to be in my circle, period."

[00:06:03]>> So, I'm out. I'm out. But, now I've worked my way back in and I heard yesterday some rumblings, "Jody's back in town."

[00:06:11]>> He's between the lottery shoots.

[00:06:13]>> [laughter] >> And they said >> It's for Tuesday. They were like They said, uh >> [snorts] >> "Is anybody anybody, a breathing individual, available at 1:00?" And I was like, "I can do it.

[00:06:27]And they said >> "Anyone else available? Anyone?

[00:06:29][laughter] Come on now, y'all. This is serious."

[00:06:32]>> It's Jody. This is Jody back in town.

[00:06:34]And, uh, they settled on me and I'm able to fill that fourth spot today at 1:00.

[00:06:40]My other, a friend of mine, I was at drilling yesterday with imaginary James.

[00:06:44]And he's not real.

[00:06:46]That's what people He's never ever seen him. Okay. So, another guy was out there who I know very well and he said his wife is unexpectedly pregnant. They have kids that are like 16 and 11 and his wife is on >> That is the surprise.

[00:07:01]>> So >> It's a blessing.

[00:07:03]>> [laughter] >> That's what everyone has to do, but in reality you're like, "My god."

[00:07:07]>> So, I made the old joke. "Kill myself."

[00:07:10]And he didn't find [laughter] that funny.

[00:07:13]>> What would you do if you found out your wife was pregnant right now?

[00:07:16]>> Kill myself.

[00:07:18]>> [laughter] >> Jump off a cliff.

[00:07:19]>> Cuz at that point you've gotten rid of all of your baby stuff.

[00:07:22]>> Oh, it's the worst.

[00:07:24]>> You are 7 years from everyone being out.

[00:07:26]>> And you're so excited. Yeah.

[00:07:28]>> Yes. He said he's getting a vasectomy and I said, "Well, too late."

[00:07:33]>> What's the point? Uh, so he didn't find that funny, you know. I'm really good at people not finding things funny. What's [laughter] saying things that people don't find funny.

This is why BB Shay's weaker than you even expected him to >> Yeah, so I went downstairs to give blood and I was sitting I grabbed a number I was sitting outside and in the room giving blood there were babies that were crying uncontrollably. It was so nerve-racking.

[00:07:59]>> Were they giving They weren't giving blood.

[00:08:01]>> I I don't know. I don't know if they were giving blood, having shots. I don't know what the deal was.

[00:08:04]>> I've been getting shots.

[00:08:05]>> There was a door between us.

[00:08:06]>> Okay.

[00:08:07]>> So the babies came out and then the lady who was giving blood came out or taking blood cuz she said come on in. She goes no crying by the way. I said well this may be worse.

[00:08:16]>> So she took me in the back and she I sat down and I said hey just want to let you know I do not do well giving blood. Four of the five last times I've given blood I've passed out got lightheaded.

[00:08:28]>> It's bad.

[00:08:28]>> You've passed out four times in your life?

[00:08:30]>> Yes.

[00:08:30]>> How many times have you passed out in your life?

[00:08:32]>> All giving blood. Yeah.

[00:08:33]>> All of them four or five times.

[00:08:35]>> Yes.

[00:08:35]>> I've I don't think I've ever passed out.

[00:08:37]>> I don't know what it is. I just do not do well with it.

[00:08:44]>> And I think there's something about the blood being taken out of my body that it just kind of messes with me. Messes with my head.

[00:08:50]>> You want to hear a an odd take on this Biggy you don't know this. BB Shay mentioned this before the show and Red Rachel in her flannel said oh I do like seeing a needle go into my body. I do like seeing the blood come out.

[00:09:06]>> Everyone's different. I I don't like watching [laughter] it.

[00:09:10]one like to look. I don't >> the thing fill up with my blood. That is so cool.

[00:09:18]>> [laughter] >> I think women >> I mean >> Yeah, I think about I think about the content I you know expose myself to all the time. All the crime and stuff. I'm not worried about blood.

[00:09:31]>> Do you think it's because they menstruate?

[00:09:33]>> I wasn't going to go there. All right, here we go.

[00:09:47]>> Do you think at this point, too, BB, that you're you just you've passed out so much that you're now worried about passing out so you pass out?

[00:09:54]>> So, I got there in the chair and I told the lady I I pass out.

[00:09:57]>> And uh she goes, "Do you want to lay down?" And I said, "Whatever's easiest for you." And then she said, "Well, I'd rather not have to pick you up off the floor."

[00:10:03]>> I said, "Cool, let's go lay down." So, she took me into another area and this other woman came in >> over here in the closet room.

[00:10:09]>> [laughter] >> That's where they That's where they had the babies.

[00:10:12]>> They don't put a sign up. What's What's the P on the door for?

[00:10:17]>> In the closet room. You're in the closet room.

[00:10:19]>> Yeah, we saw you coming.

[00:10:20]>> Yeah.

[00:10:21]>> The old pass out guy.

[00:10:23]>> You're the the serial fainer.

[00:10:26]>> So, I was laying there giving and the lady started working with me and then another lady came up.

[00:10:30]>> And she goes, "Are you okay?" I was like, "I don't I don't know." And she said, "Do you want me to hold your hand?" I said, >> Yes.

[00:10:36]>> So, while I was giving blood, there was one lady giving blood and another lady to the next of me holding my hand while I gave blood.

[00:10:42]>> They get all faints and taints over there. Hold his hand.

[00:10:46]>> Yeah.

[00:10:47]I would have passed on the hand holding.

[00:10:49]>> Yeah. That's a little over the top.

[00:10:50]>> yeah, I would have been passing out.

[00:10:52]Hey, it happens.

[00:10:53]>> You know, I have two I've I think I've only given blood twice in my life, which is I really should do it more. My father used to give all the time. He He got like medals and stuff.

[00:11:02]>> I I I will say this, I cannot donate my own blood.

[00:11:06]>> Why?

[00:11:06]>> It's not I can see it come out of me.

[00:11:08]The idea of squeezing I can't do that.

[00:11:11]>> I hate that.

[00:11:12]>> I feel terrible.

[00:11:13]>> You like that.

[00:11:14]>> Well, I I've only ever had blood taken for like a doctor's appointment. I can't donate blood. I'm anemic. But I would love to have a bag full of my blood that I could squeeze.

[00:11:24]>> My mother My mother donates I mean, she donates every chance she can. And she she is so mad at me and she's like, "You should do it." And I'm like, "I I can't. I'm like they give you this ball, you know, and you have to squeeze to make it >> that part of it.

[00:11:37]>> and I can't. I cannot like mentally I would be BB. I'd pass out.

[00:11:41]No one's getting me up off the floor.

[00:11:42]>> No God, no.

[00:11:43]>> No.

[00:11:44]>> No, not at all.

[00:11:45]Here's the two the two times I've given blood. The first time I was 18. I was in high school and we had a calculus teacher that notoriously gave us homework. I mean terrible or or pop quizzes all the time. And so in order to miss the class, I decided to give blood. I was like, "Okay, it's scheduled." You know, like my time was at 11:15 and that was during the class. I was like, "Oh, perfect. I'm going to get out of this class." So I'm laying on the table. This is what a hardo this this professor with this teacher was, Mr. Jordan.

[00:12:16]He came in and said, "Oh, I saw you weren't in class." And he laid the pop quiz on my chest as I was giving the blood.

[00:12:23]He's like, "As soon as you get up from that you have to take this test." And I mean I was like, "Are you kidding?" I mean he gave tests every day. It was a pop quiz from the night before from the homework night.

[00:12:33]He was a hardo. And he was and there were like eight of us in there and he was just dropping the paper on everybody's stomach.

[00:12:38]>> Well, you know that he knew that people would donate blood to miss class.

[00:12:42]>> I guess he did, yeah.

[00:12:43]>> That's like the ultimate victory for a teacher, too. You know you've got them when they're they're like, "I'll give my blood instead of taking your quiz."

[00:12:49]>> He was the hardest teacher I ever had high school or college. He was very And in fact, I mean most people got F's in the class so he had to grade on a curve and you know >> bump it up to a C. It was unbelievably [clears throat] hard.

[00:13:02]>> Yeah, he was a very hard teacher. Now, the second time I gave blood I was more like 30 and it was a radio station thing. We were giving blood.

[00:13:11]Now, I weighed about 300 lb plus. I was heavy. And I was giving blood and like you, I mean I guess I was turning white cuz a woman came over. She must have weighed 85 lb.

[00:13:22]And she said, "When you get up I'll hold your arm to to you over to the table [clears throat] for the juice." And I said, "Sweetheart, what are you going to do?

[00:13:29]If I fall on you, what are you going to do? You're going to be breaking bones here." So, we went over and got a cookie and juice, and I was like leaned on her.

[00:13:35]I'm sure that looked like Everybody was like, "My god, he's trying to kill this woman. You know, what's going on with him?"

[00:13:40]>> Now, let me tell you, giving blood in a hospital, they just take it from you.

[00:13:43]That's where I've gotten over my fear of >> Yes.

[00:13:46]>> I mean, the the hospital stays, they come in all hours, they don't care.

[00:13:49]>> Mhm.

[00:13:49]>> And let me tell you, if like at some point like it they couldn't get blood from me anymore, >> Mhm.

[00:13:54]>> they'd find a way.

[00:13:55]>> BB Shay's got deep veins.

[00:13:58]>> Yeah. Hell yeah, I do.

[00:13:59]>> You should you should shout that from the rooftops. The nurse was like, "You got some really nice veins."

[00:14:04]>> Let me tell you, the nurses that take the blood, they're into it.

[00:14:07]>> Cuz I have a good vein on my one arm, and they every time I give they're like, "Oh, >> Yeah.

[00:14:12]>> look at this vein. This is perfect. You make my job so easy."

[00:14:15]>> God, they really are. They're like, "Good, Rachel."

[00:14:17]>> Yeah, see?

[00:14:17]>> Well, you know, I was thinking you said something about the hospital. I think that's why I'm not bothered by it cuz I was in the hospital it as a five or six-year-old child, and they were sticking me all night long, and I it just doesn't bother me.

[00:14:31]They'll cut You'll be fast asleep, lights on, give me your arm.

[00:15:50]It's um it's been proven very healthy for you. It actually removes calcium from your body and then replenishes.

[00:15:58]Um so, I mean it's actually very good for you. And plus only I've heard that only 5% of eligible donors give blood in this country. So, uh >> That that This call will make a difference to me. Right, what you just said, if it's healthy to do it, and I bet that's true, I'm sure it is, and only 5% do it, and they always are needing. They're needing blood.

[00:16:30]>> Um I'm not really sure. I'm O positive, which is universal, so they like mine.

[00:16:36]Um but you can give blood up to every 58 days.
