[00:00:00]Standard written English is in itself an accent. It's the accent of educated, usually middle-class speakers, and it doesn't get altered on the page because it's treated as the default. When you render one character's speech phonetically, but write another's in clean standard English, you're making a statement about who is normal and who is the deviation. This is what people mean when they talk about being othered.
