Memorized Math Is Becoming Obsolete

AI can now execute any standard mathematical procedure faster and more accurately than any human, which means the value of a human who can follow procedure has dropped towards zero. The value that remains, the value that AI cannot replicate, is the human ability to understand why a method works, to recognize when a different method is needed, to reason through a problem that has no established procedure yet. So, what should replace procedural drilling?

The goal shifts from can you perform this correctly to do you understand this deeply enough to use it creatively?
