Oldest Sandals on Earth? 👣Ajouté :
Imagine walking 10,000 years ago barefoot no more. Here's when shoes began rewriting history. Around 10,000 years ago, ours 8,000 B.CE in North America, people wo sage brush bark into Fort Rock sandals by hand. These are some of the oldest footwear we found.
Fast forward to about 5,500 years ago, 3un 600 B.CE in Armenia. The Arini one leather shoe, a one-piece well-crafted shoe. By 3,300 B.CE, Europe's Iceman Utsie wore alpine shoes. Layered leather kept his feet warm and protected during glacier travel. Plant fiber soles added grip for ice and snow during alpine travel. How were they made? A simple toolkit explains. Using plant fibers braided and twisted for strength and binding. Strips of bark formed soles and straps for early sandals. Tanned leather was cut and shaped precisely by hand.
Handw weaving or cutting with stone tools created the form. Stitched using bones and primitive needles for durable seams or sewn with senue threads from animal tendons for strength. Why it matters? Shoes let humans walk farther and carry more. They protect feet from injury and rough terrain, so migration increased. Shoes let people exploit new climates and diverse habitats. Open trade routes connected faraway communities and exchanged goods and ideas. They enabled farming by moving and transporting goods across land, accelerating migration and the rise of civilization across continents. In short, from woven bark to leather boots.
Footwear turned walking into exploration and history, creating global change.
That first step changed the world forever.
