When selecting a denture provider, patients should prioritize specialists who focus on denture fabrication, ask about the lab's location and proximity, inquire about included services like wax try-ins and adjustments, understand long-term maintenance requirements including relines and warranty coverage, and choose providers who welcome questions and offer personalized care rather than high-volume operations.

👻 Questions I’d ask before getting a NEW set of dentures/prosthetics if I was already toothless: •Hinzugefügt:
I'll be honest with you, if you are toothless already and you're trying to find somebody to make you a new set of teeth, find somebody who makes teeth for a living. It's so different no matter where you are at, you have to go to a dentist and then the dentist has to write a script to a lab and then the lab makes the teeth and they send them and then they don't fit because they got bad impressions, got a bad bite registration, but that's the only way you can get teeth. Find somewhere where you can get as close as possible to the person that's making these things. If you live in a state that has denturists, they specialize in the making of dentures. Like that is what they do.
That is their thing. That is what they do at work. They focus on the actual teeth, the fit, the function, like all of it. The closer you can get to the person that's actually making your teeth, the better the experience you're going to have. And I know access to care isn't everywhere and not everybody can travel to find that best person or that best practice. So you want to ask, like who's making these teeth? How far away is the lab? Can you do relines and adjustments chairside?
What's all included with the teeth? How many wax try-ins do I get? Do I get to fully design my smile? What are my teeth going to be made out of? What does maintenance look like on these? Do I have to come back every 6 months or every 12 months so you can check my bite and my fit? If they're too loose, will you recommend a hard reline, a soft reline? How much do both of those cost me?
What does this look like long-term? What happens when something breaks? What does my warranty cover? Is there a warranty?
Nobody really thinks about the maintenance part of a regular denture until something bad pops up or something hurts. You also want to think about the office and the environment of the office. Are you going to a denture factory, which I'm sure it has a huge turnover, or somewhere more smaller scale where they actually know your case? So when something does happen, you're not just a medical record number when you walk in. Smaller does not automatically mean worse. Sometimes those smaller offices give you more attention. They give you more individualized care because they're not the big box store, you know? They're not trying to push 500 patients a day through the door. At the end of the day, you're trusting somebody to rebuild your face, rebuild your smile, rebuild your bite, give you back some more of that face support, a confidence booster. A good provider should want you to ask questions. If they start getting a little nervous cuz you start asking them, that's a red flag.
