The video uses sensationalist framing to turn a routine domestic injury into a performative spectacle for engagement. It’s a textbook example of how the attention economy commodifies personal vulnerability under the guise of being educational.

mariah might have broken her wrist.. *she’s in so much pain*Added:
Guys, it's such a sad day in the Marvel house.
Today is not the fun house anymore. We are in the fun house. This is supposed to be the house of fun. Not the house of injuries.
>> Oh, and just wait till you guys find out how it happened.
>> Well, we got to explain which one of us has the messed up wrist.
>> [snorts] >> Who is it? Obviously not the one crying and fake crying. Thank god it's not me.
Everything on my body works great right now, Marvel's Club. But Maria is not feeling too hot. She absolutely messed up her wrist and it might be broken. Not broken. It's probably sprained.
>> Do you want to know what's crazy? What?
A sprain is worse than breaking your bone, you know that?
>> Really?
>> Or is it a fracture?
I don't know. I've never had anything like that happen to me, so I don't know what's worse. So, today we are sponsored by No, we're not. This is not sponsored.
[laughter] Oh, wait. Which Which hand is bad? This one.
>> Oh, so that's good it's not your dominant hand. Your right hand's your dominant hand. So, when you Right. It's good.
>> When you high five?
>> Yeah.
This is good.
>> I don't know if you guys remember, but this video right here, um when I was holding up the couch, my wrist I I think that is what made my wrist really messed up.
>> And it's crazy cuz as you can see by the video, she really didn't do much.
>> really do much. It was very heavy though.
>> You didn't really do much though on it.
Is this a left-handed one? Yeah. Is there a splint in there though?
Baby, it's it's like it's strong. Yes.
>> Oh.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, that's where it's at. So, ever since then, I was like or when after that happened, I'm like, "Ooh, that kind of hurt my wrist." But it was kind of like, "Oh, it's probably just a little sore." Cuz I literally was just holding it up cuz we actually had to film that clip a couple times because I literally could not like I don't know, it was heavy and I wanted to make sure it was good cuz we did like multiple clips. But after I was like, "Oh my gosh, my wrist hurts." A couple days go by and like I would kind of have a little bit of minor pains. It was kind of like, "Ooh, that kind of hurts." Like when I move my wrist a certain way, I'm like, "Ooh, that hurts a little bit."
I'm trying to talk to them, tell them what's going on, and you're playing games.
>> it out.
>> need to test it out.
>> to make sure that it works before you do it.
>> Okay, well, it's fine. Just let me put it on there.
>> Feels pretty good. Good. Now, get take it off your wrist before you stretch it out. This is for small and medium.
>> kind of like it.
>> it off. It makes me want to like work out or something.
>> stretch it out.
>> Okay, so >> calling me fat?
>> No. So, that happened 2 weeks ago, okay?
Which the last few nights I have been like when I before I go to bed, I'm like, "Ooh, my wrist is kind of like like tilt a certain way, it hurts." Like when I go like this, or like I do something weird, like kind of like has a sharp pain. Tell them what you did at the gym. Well, I I go and pick up a 50-lb weight, and I'm Listen, but my WRIST >> I BARELY USE 50-LB WEIGHTS. What are you doing?
>> doing sumo squats. Actually, 55 lbs. I could have picked up 60.
>> bad. 55 lbs.
>> I could have actually picked up 60.
>> don't even use 55 lbs at the gym that much.
>> Well, I did. So, I went to go lift it up, and >> her bad wrist. Well, I didn't realize it was really that bad. Like I honestly been going to the gym since then. So, I was like, "Oh, I'm fine." But I lifted it, and it my wrist just gave out, and the whole day yesterday and today it's little it's like depends on where I like twist my wrist, it hurts. Like really really bad. So, I ordered myself a a brace.
>> Oh, wait. We're doing it backwards. Be careful.
Ooh.
Okay, we got Dr. Phil. I'm really hoping I didn't sprain it, but I wanted to get this just so >> make it any tighter if you want.
>> tight.
>> You can loosen it up. Just do that one, that one, or that one. How's it feel?
Oh, I like it. I know, you look But I kind of like it though because I'm not going to lie, I'm not going to lie though, I do like this because I feel like whenever I move my wrist like I even though you're not Okay, when you're like going out on a day day, it's kind of hard to keep your wrist straight.
>> Yeah. Like it's hard to keep it straight. So, this like actually keeps it straight like >> about it, and all of you'll just randomly like >> Yes, tilt it and I'm like, "Oh, that hurt." Like yesterday and today I could barely put on my shirt. I could barely put my hair up in a claw clip. My this like I'm like I'm really hoping it's not a sprain. I'm really hoping it's just like a torn ligament or something or something like minor. But I feel like this is going to help keep my Do I have to wear this at night, too?
Don't wear it too tight cuz it'll like mess with your circulation, but you should wear it at night because at night you're like more probably susceptible to rolling.
>> the day it needs to be good and when I'm lifting weights cuz I can just like I don't have to worry about anything.
I know. Am I even going to be able to Let me see if this is a weight.
>> you'll be fine. Does it feel good? Like can your hand bend the bad way?
No. Like No. It doesn't hurt?
>> No. All right, that's good. You should see how long Wait, if you if you sprain something, how long do you have to have that? Probably like 2 weeks? I don't know. You guys, anyone who's sprained a wrist, know anything about it? I don't even know if it's a sprain though. It might not be a sprain.
>> I rolled my ankle that one year >> Was that a sprain when cuz we went to That was worse than that.
>> to the doctor, remember?
>> That was like almost a fracture, I think. There might be like a hairline crack or something cuz I didn't break it, but >> Maybe that's what's going on with me, a hairline.
>> hopefully not. Since Mariah has to wear this cast all day, I'm going to wear one with her What? to show my love for you.
That's not a cast. It's a boxing glove.
>> It does the same thing.
>> No, it doesn't. Yes, it does. You're not Babe, feel it. It's like a cast. Try to move my wrist.
Why would you do that?
>> To show my love for you. No, you're not.
You're just making fun of me. You're mocking me.
>> I'm not Why would I mock I'm not mocking you.
>> are. I'm not. You should have just bought a boxing glove. That would have been way better than that little thing.
>> my actual hand.
>> Feel it.
>> That sucks. I don't want this big thing.
I would hate that. I would want to wear that? Pound it.
I'm wearing this all day.
Good for you. I'm going to show my love for you.
No, you're not wearing that all day.
>> I'm going to wear it all day.
>> not wearing that all day.
>> I'm wearing it right now.
>> be able to do anything with that?
>> I have my other hand. Let's see how Let's see how Let's see how long Look at I can vlog with the camera. Okay, you're really risking it. Boom. No, I'm not.
>> Yes, you are.
>> I still can grab things. Oh god, guys.
He's not He'll last 0.5 seconds. It's going to be off him in >> You actually want to make a bet now? I wasn't planning on wearing it all day, but now I kind of want to to prove you wrong.
>> not wearing it all day. Stop it.
>> [laughter] >> You're so dumb. Okay, guys, so I have a little mini update. I asked Google, are you supposed to wear a wrist brace all day every day? It says it depends on why you're wearing it. For most mild wrist sprains or strains, you usually don't want to wear a brace 24/7 for weeks straight unless doctor specifically told you so. Wear it during activities that make the wrist hurt or when you need support. You could also wear it while sleeping if movement at night causes pain, but it's often good to take it off at times of the day gently move the wrist so it doesn't get stiff or weak.
Since you mentioned your wrist has been hurting for about 2 weeks after lifting your couch after your couch, a brace can help calm it down. But, if the pain is getting worse, you have weakness, sharp pain, swelling, numbness, tingling, or if it remains after 1 to 2 weeks, you got to get checked because sometimes tendon injuries or small fractures can feel like a sprain. A good rule is rest plus brace plus avoid heavy lifting for a few days, which tomorrow I'm going to do leg day, so I'm not really going to be using my arms as much. So, I guess I'm just going to wear this like kind of like throughout the day and then like take it off here and there. Just do some movement with my wrist and then put it back on. I probably won't sleep with it on just because I don't know it doesn't really cause me pain when I sleep. I mean, the last two nights that before this happened, it was hurting if I had my wrist a certain way, but I try to not really like sleep on my wrist. I try to keep it flat. I'm glad I asked this. I did not want to have to wear your a brace all day cuz I did I did hear like if you wear a brace for too long, like it actually can worsen your symptoms, I think, because your wrist is not in movement unless your doctor tells you to. So, thank god I asked and I wanted to give you guys a little update. This thing is kind of annoying though, I'm not going to lie, but it does feel really nice to have it on to keep my wrist straight while I'm doing things throughout the day. I'll probably take it off later tonight when I'm kind of just relaxing.
Guys, I want to give you a little update. I just took my wrist brace off and I think it made my wrist hurt worse.
Because your wrist was in a sling all day.
>> I know, but should it be I don't think it should be in a sling all day. How's it going to heal?
>> No, it shouldn't be in a sling all day.
You want to still move it around and but you want you put it back in when you're doing stuff that could injure it.
>> Oh, yeah, yeah. That's mainly for like support so like you don't injure yourself.
>> Yeah. And I did take the glove off by the way because we've been doing a lot today. Also, we totally forgot to show you. We should have turned on the camera. Megan and Fabian We sold pictures of them up there. They just pranked us. They put about how many?
150? Yeah, 150 pictures. 150 of these photos on our house of these right here.
And we just took them all down. We totally forgot to show you. Make sure to go on Meg's page, Megan Babe, to look at that video.
>> e g h a n c o v v so two v's as in victor. That is my Two v's like in a v v s? Yeah, so they just pranked us but we are about to go get some Mexican food.
Oh, I'm so excited. You know that you know the myth about Mexican food, right?
No.
It heals sprained bones.
Really? Mhm.
You are so damn gullible right now.
>> [laughter] >> All right, we're going to go get some dinner.
>> to take them with us to dinner. Oh yeah, we're going to take y'all with us to dinner.
But something might stick in us but no, and my video is I sprained my arm. I just don't trust you guys anymore.
You shouldn't. Nobody's safe in the Mar house. Apparently, we're not safe either cuz we got pranked here today anyways.
Okay, so we just made it to the Mexican restaurant. It's storming like so bad outside. The power went out like five times. Hold on, baby. You don't get it.
The first time we moved out here, this was like Every night. Every night. No, what I'm saying is I've never seen it this bad. Okay.
Oh, [applause and cheering] I got it.
That's crazy.
>> [laughter] >> That's crazy. That's insane. We literally got that. I told you how I hope we get our food.
And the power's out at our house.
They They have no power.
Not if they have like a if they use like gas.
People are literally stopped on the road.
>> Okay, that's a That's a turning Jesus.
You know what? What if we just have to bunk here tonight? I don't know if you guys can see. Look at this. Look at outside. He said the food did just get here.
Thank you.
See the storm? It's bad. Yeah, see the storm? But this food is good.
Look at that. Look at that. I got fajitas, so I get another plate. Hey, luckily luckily they made our food before the power went out. They made it fast. We were only here for like 10 minutes so far.
So we just finished up. How was it? It was really good. You ate a lot. The The taco meat was a little bit chunky today, like kind of Really? That's a first. It was good though.
My fajitas were awesome. Look at We have a whole 'nother meal going home and me.
Look at this.
Ooh.
Marble Squad is the next day, and I think my body is just giving out on me.
Cuz now, why are my inner thighs feeling like I pulled something?
>> falling apart, y'all. Her arm >> What is going on? I don't get it. I don't get it. I also haven't had my wrist brace on because I honestly felt like it made my wrist feel worse, and I honestly really only want to put it on unless I'm doing like my weightlifting and stuff like that or at the gym. So I feel like when I had it on all day yesterday, it made it worse. Like it tightened it. Like and I don't want to not have movement. Obviously it still hurts. We're going to see how it feels by the end of this week.
>> Yeah. And then any suggestions that any of y'all have, let us know down below because we really don't know what to do except wait. And then maybe if it hurts in like another week, get like an x-ray.
But >> get an x-ray yeah cuz it it like it still hurts.
>> It still hurts. Even if they don't do anything just to see if there's anything wrong. I think I just want that like >> know how how you would have done I think you just I think you just hyperextended or like sprained something because you lifting that up it's not like you had an impact or cracked or broke it. Like I feel like you just >> literally just happened.
>> Yeah, I don't know. It just it hurts.
>> Also, we made it out alive at the Mexican restaurant.
>> did. Oh my >> raining so bad. It like only went on for like a half hour but so the lights kept flickering on and off throughout the entire entire time we were in there.
Fabian couldn't even get another Coca-Cola because the sprayer gun works off of a pump which is electric and he said they couldn't even pour it >> And the AC's got turned off.
>> The AC wasn't even on the whole time. So as we were sitting there it got hotter and hotter every 10 minutes. Mariah and Meg went to sit in the car while we were paying.
>> do it anymore.
>> Listen to this. We didn't really have any cash on us so we were paying with card which is normal. Yeah. Well, since the electric went on and off so many times it would reboot their system. So every time he tried swiping our cards to pay it wouldn't work. The systems were down. So we sat in there for another 20 minutes while the girls were in the car trying to get it to work. Finally, he comes over and says, "Hey, uh it flickered again. It's probably going to be like another 20 minutes." And we're like, "Oh god."
>> So we're like, "Dude, can you just pay for our meal and I can like Zelle you personally?" So we paid like 80% of the meal in the cash that we had on hand and then the tip we tipped the guy through Zelle.
>> Yeah, that was >> Which is crazy.
>> you waited that 20 minutes and it flickered again. It could have. It was a storm.
>> when we first moved here like when I remember we first moved here we had thunderstorms like all the time. Now >> a hurricane.
>> Yeah, now it feels it's like 4 years ago when we moved here.
>> I love it. I love the storm.
>> I love the storm.
>> I just think it's crazy that we got that on camera of the power going out.
>> Yeah, that was crazy.
>> After our storm.
>> That was really funny. But yeah, if you guys have any suggestions on my wrist and what I should keep doing or what it sounds like >> think it's swollen.
>> It feel Look at this. Look at this compared to my other one. It's the way you're twisting your wrist. It's the way the light's hitting it.
>> guys have any suggestions leave them down below. Hope you guys enjoyed today's little mini vlog.
>> glad that we could do this for everyone update cuz I know every single video we've been posting with Mariah's cast everyone's like, "Oh my gosh, what happened? What happened?" So, I'm glad that we can give you a little update. I will be taking care of my baby and doing the heavy lifting around here because that's what I'm supposed to do. Oh yeah.
I know. That's what you're you're jack-of-all-trades. I already told I could tell you that a million times. You can do everything and anything.
>> Don't let the ottoman defeat you.
>> now my legs are giving out.
>> your wrist back strong. Hopefully my legs, too.
>> Your legs will be fine. But we love you guys so much.
>> see you in the next video, but until then, peace. Love you guys.
