[00:00:09]>> [music] >> So, what is liver cirrhosis? Liver cirrhosis is a condition where in the normal structure of the liver gets replaced by scar tissue and becomes hard. Initially, only the structure is altered and eventually even the liver function gets altered. So, what causes liver cirrhosis? It could be because of alcohol intake in extreme amounts for many years together, >> [music] >> non-alcoholic fatty liver which is because of obesity or high cholesterol levels, because of hepatitis B or C.

[00:00:33]Other causes could be hereditary or intake of alternate medications. So, what are the symptoms of cirrhosis?

[00:00:39]In the initial stages of cirrhosis, the patient may be absolutely asymptomatic or may have very vague symptoms such as diffuse pain in abdomen or tiredness or weakness. As the cirrhosis sets in and becomes decompensated, the patient can have various complications such as jaundice, [music] swelling of the abdomen with water, swelling of the feet, blood vomiting, or even coma.
