The Hidden Code Behind Star Wars: George Lucas and Joseph Campbell

[00:00:00]Part of what's going on there, we we learned after the fact, it shattered all the the records and people started asking George Lucas, well, how did you come up with the idea of this? And the answer was he went and he got help from Joseph Campbell. And Joseph Campbell went and [music] studied the pattern of the journey of the hero in lots of different cultures and he sort of boiled it down to the essential [music] steps. And then Lucas took those steps and built a new futuristic hero myth around it.

[00:00:38]And the [music] rest is history. So, we take a lot of that for granted now because you know, in screenwriting [music] schools they say, "Well, this is Joseph Campbell and this is what he said you got to do." And so, a lot of our modern films bake that pattern into it.

[00:00:54]But back when it first came out, it was like, "Wow, that is just it blows me away."

I think it was For those who are not aware, in 1949, I believe, Joseph Campbell wrote a book called The Hero with a Thousand Faces and within it he describes this hero's journey, these 12 steps of [music] being removed from ordinary life, undergoing this challenge or tribulation, coming back with some kind of elixir or secret of wisdom, and then using that teaching and the learning therein to then create a more meaningful [music] existence for humanity on some level.
