Behind the Headlines UK Jew Hatred Attacks: Are we in the season of the Hunters?

[00:00:04]Good evening and welcome to Behind Headlines. In tonight's program, we shall be discussing the shocking terrorist incident that took place last week in Golden Green where two Jewish men were stabbed and will be asking, are we in the season of the hunters? The British Jewish community, fearful and afraid, have expressed their outrage at another Islamist terrorist attack on the Jewish community and their community by Islamists, calling out the government for not doing enough to protect them.

[00:00:35]Since the aftermath of the horrors of October the 7th, the UK has witnessed the hatred and the rhetoric being directed at Israel and the Jewish people at the mass Palestinian protest. all genocidal calls for globalizing the inifard. Now that rhetoric has turned to violence. We shall be asking how Christians should respond to the growing hatred uh on the attacks on our Jewish community as we are now clearly in the season of the hunters described in Jeremiah 16:E 16. And in tonight's Behind the Headlines, I'm joined by my good friend Tim Gutman uh together with his wife Haley Gutman. So, it's an absolute pleasure to have you both on the program. So, thank you.

[00:01:21]>> Great to be with you as always.

[00:01:22]>> Thank you for having me >> and I'm so pleased you could also join us Haley as well. So, do you want to share with us your role because you do a great role with Tim, but share with us your role that you do through Christian Action against anti-semitism and how you are absolutely loved and adored by our Jewish community. Well, I won't speak on that because that's for them to say. Um, but no, Tim and I, we founded um an organization called Christian Action Against Anti-semitism.

[00:01:47]And for the last two and a half years, really since October the 7th, so much of our activity has been focused on really comforting the Jewish people and standing in solidarity. because as soon as October 7th happened, the placards were ready and the marchers were out on the street in London the very next day after the biggest slaughter of Jews since the Holocaust. And so we felt like it was so important for us to get um our message of solidarity and also trying to lead the church to say guys anti-semitism and so much of the rhetoric we see in these marches such as the Jews killed Jesus um the Jews controlled the world etc etc has come from the church and we feel like we're in a time now that it's so important that the church stands strong as a righteous righteous Gentiles and as a righteous beacon. M amen to that and you both do do a great work. But um Tim, do you just want to read out the scripture for today's program because in my opinion it feels like this is now open season for Jew hunting uh in this nation and across Western Europe as now Jew hatred has reached pandemic levels. And of course we saw that horrific violence against those two Jewish men >> in Golden Green last week just because they were Jewish. And uh one of my uh friends is a regular on the Middle Eastport Zami Unstofer. It was his friend Mosha that was stabbed. And as soon as it happened, he actually messaged me on WhatsApp to tell me what was going on and then showed me the CCT footage. So it's uh yeah, it's very very close to home.

[00:03:23]>> Of course, it's alarming, but also prophetic as we'll see here. It says in Jeremiah chapter 16, that's verses 14- 16. It says, "Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, that it shall no more be said, the Lord lives, you who brought the children of Israel from the land of Egypt, but the Lord lives, who brought up the children of Israel from the land of the north, and from all the lands where he had driven them. For I will bring them back into their land which I gave to their fathers. Behold, I will send for many fishermen, says the Lord, and they shall fish them, and afterward I will send for many hunters, and they'll hunt them from every mountain and every hill and out of the holes of the rocks. So, it's a key key scripture there that you're seeing fulfilling in our time.

[00:04:05]>> Absolutely. and and give us your reflections on on that scripture which I think is so poignant for today because literally the the the scripture has been fulfilled even though this was given to Jeremiah >> before the destruction of the first temple in Jerusalem that has literally been fulfilled in our lifetimes.

[00:04:25]>> It really has. I think it's um we're living in really key times right now.

[00:04:29]And as you were saying about the um is it open season? Let's not forget that in Heaton Park Synagogue less than six months ago, two Jews were murdered. Um, so what's going on right now is pretty serious.

[00:04:44]>> But prophetically, you know, about the hunters because obviously God uses anti-semitism. He uses what the enemy means for harm because he will gather his people. Now, of course, when there are prophecies relating to gathering them from the north, east, south, and west, we can say we can look at 19:48 and say, "This is specific a specific fulfillment of prophecy. Therefore, we know we're in the last days." You pair that up with Hosea 3 to4 where it says in the last days, even though they had no king, no temple, no place for um it says for a long, long, long time, in the last days, I'll bring them back. And he will bring them back, you know, with the fisherman. And we saw this post World War II. We saw in fact the nations helping the Jewish people and you you saw Jewish people fighting for their um for their land, for their independence.

[00:05:32]And unfortunately the UK played a very sorry role, but that's another program for another day. But now he uses and he will use the hunters. The Nazis were hunters that anti-semitism which is a wicked and an evil. But God will use that for good because he will bring his people back and the amuse high. the people of Israel will live and according to the promises of God, they will never be at rooted.

[00:05:53]>> That's right.

[00:05:53]>> And God's covenants with with them forever. He will fight for them. He will protect them. Even if the nations of the world would surround Jerusalem, Yeshua himself would come down and protect them.

[00:06:02]>> What what I find extraordinary about this scripture is because it's set in the time when in the time of Jeremiah, the whole of Israel would have known about how, for example, the Lord delivered the Jewish people out of Egypt. [clears throat] >> Right? But this is what it says.

[00:06:17]Therefore, behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, that it shall be said no more, the Lord lives, who brought the children of Israel from the land of Egypt, but the Lord lives who brought the children from the land of the north and from the lands where they were driven them. M now we saw for example with the collapse of the Berlin wall in 1989 the collapse of of the Soviet Union brought over 1.5 million >> Jewish people from the former Soviet Union >> to the land of Israel. So literally that scripture has been fulfilled in 1991 and 1992 in the early '90s. Incredible.

[00:06:55]>> Um, and then if we look further, it also talks about, "Behold, I'll send many fishermen."

[00:07:00]>> And of course, the fishermen are organizations and ministries like Ezra, Operation Mobilization, uh, Exodus, the likes of the International Christian Embassy, Jerusalem UK, and other big Christian ministries.

[00:07:13]>> That's right.

[00:07:13]>> Who have been dedicated to finding Jewish people and bringing them home to Israel in fulfillment of biblical prophecy. But now it says, I will send out the hunters. And and so therefore to recognize this is a totalitarian ideology that's just smacks of Nazism.

[00:07:30]>> Exactly.

[00:07:31]>> And that's what we have today. This Islam fascism and same spirit that's coming after our Jewish friends. Um what what is your reflection on on um what we've seen post October the 7th with the big mass protests that we've seen and how is it any surprising that we're having this retro like globalize the intera or or from the river to the sea Palestine will be free these these in these chants are incitement to genocide and is any wonder now we're seeing innocent Jewish blood being >> no the hatred that actually exudes from these marches is as actually paliotable We would often go and we would stand on the street with our Jewish friends and um as they streamed past in their tens of thousands and you actually felt this spirit of oppression >> as they shouted and their hatred it was just so deep with their death threats.

[00:08:24]It is. It's It's history's always shown us from the pen to the sword, words once you dehumanize the Jews, it's not long before it's open season for, you know, doing what they want. And we saw that on October 7th. October 7th, um, Hamas invaded Israel, did what they did, and then literally the next day on the on the Sydney Harbor, um, steps, they were saying, "Gas the Jews."

[00:08:49]>> And at Bondi.

[00:08:51]>> Exactly. How often at these marches cuz we were there would they make a slit and throat sign or or would they say um globalize the interifard? Yeah. And of course their friends I would say if I can in the far left who would join them saying globalize the interifard you know they didn't just say from the river to the sea which we know is anti-semitic enough but they're saying globalize the interifer which is bringing that anti-semitism to these shores and we've seen it since those marches and we were saying from the start these marches are anti-semitic. We were saying the same placards week in week out they were holding signs saying the Zionists which we know is their word for Jews. Zionist control Hollywood Zionist control media killed a Zionist all of this terrible stuff. They were holding these placards week in week out. We'd report them to the police >> which show the police this is anti-Semitic. This is anti-semitic. so many anti-semitic imagery of Netanyahu with blood eating babies all of this stuff and but they didn't stop it >> and and also they have a chant that they would often say yahood which is actually talking about the time when Muhammad went in and slaughtered all the Jews in this particular place and so it's not surprising that now we're seeing the fruit of what they're laying down >> absolutely but what is the reaction to the Jewish community you do great work and great advocacy for Israel and the Jewish people on social media. What is the response from the Jewish community at this time? Because, you know, you're you're an wonderful example of how Christians should respond to our Jewish community right now.

[00:10:23]>> The Jewish community feels so alone right now. And so to feel not alone and to feel understood is something that gives uh a lot of strength and hope.

[00:10:32]That's what they've been feeding back, haven't they? M >> and the fact that they're having conversations asking which of their gentile friends would would have hidden us. Um should we escape now? When should we evacuate the UK? I mean, the fact that they're having these conversations shows how um fearful they are. And not long ago, there was a uh a visibly Jewish man who was just doing his work um as a housing inspector and then he just started being called a dirty Jew.

[00:10:59]All sorts of disgusting anti-semitic slurs. And as cars were driving by, they were encouraging the Gantiite to keep um attacking verbally this visibly Jewish man. And so now this man who is an Orthodox Jew doesn't even want to leave his area because he's so afraid because he didn't only see an anti-semite who got in his face when he was doing nothing. He was just existing. He actually saw people support that anti-semite in what that anti-semite was doing. So I think that for for the Jewish community to know that they have friends who love them, who stand by them, and who are righteous because they have bothered to look at the facts. They bothered to look at the truth and they're not being um radicalized by the propaganda. Um I think it's really encouraging for the Jewish community.

[00:11:53]Well, thank you for sharing as well and and of course of reading the research there's uh for this program I was really shocked to discover that many Jewish people are even afraid to go out in Gold's Green or Temple Fortune or in uh in other areas that are linked to the Jewish community and they're ordering a lot of food on online for example their local shopping doing that online deliveries but also there's a fear as well of sending Jewish children to Jewish nurseries now.

[00:12:20]>> Yeah. because they're fearing like their attack. Now, you know, this this is something that um Kemi Bandio, the uh uh the leader of the opposition has said that this is a national security moment for our nation, >> which it is because if you remember a few years back, the Jewish people were telling us if we if we' care to listen, >> yeah, >> we can't we don't feel like we could be visibly Jewish in London when these marches going on. But now that spread everywhere because since the the silence since or all they had from uh the government from people in power when when there was an anti-semitic attack or an incident was we stand with you but they didn't do anything. As Kem rightly said and and I respect what she said.

[00:13:03]She said this is a national emergency because now you're reading reports.

[00:13:07]We're hearing that they don't even feel that they can wear um be visibly Jewish like you said in Jewish areas because this attack has spread. We saw it in Manchester as you said. We saw it in Gold's Green recently, but it it's it's a national anti-semitism is at epidemic levels. You only just have to be online for for five minutes and you know this is an epidemic and it's root there are problems. There are problems with the far left and their narrative. There are problems within Islam. That's a fact.

[00:13:36]And there is anti-semitism with being preached in mosques. I remember a a a report done, I think it was by talk TV that the undercover in mosques and there was preaching anti-semitic, not just anti-Israel and not just all the anti-semitism that comes with that, but British Jews were facing anti-semitism on a daily, weekly basis, and we didn't do anything about it. And you're so right with the social media actually if I can interject. Social media is so influential especially on the young people and I was remembering some reports that I've read in with the CST and also with my Jewish friends just talking about it. Um teenagers, British teenagers jumping on Jewish school buses and spitting in the face of 5-year-olds, six-year-olds who are going to school and calling them dirty zios and just being anti-semitic. And this is very much influenced by social media and we can't underestimate how powerful that tool is in radicalizing people.

[00:14:32]>> Absolutely. Absolutely. So let's remind ourselves of the uh horrific instance that occurred in Goldest Green last week. So, the BBC reported on Wednesday the 29th of April under the following headline, "What we know about the goldest green stabbing, but it should have actually been titled uh what we know about the goldest green >> terror stabbings, I think, would have been a better title for that one because you can think this is just an ordinary knife crime when this was actually a terrorist instance." So, again, we're we're seeing this downplaying of this by uh by the BBC. Not surprising.

[00:15:09]>> Yeah.

[00:15:09]>> Um it goes on to say that uh two Jewish men have been stabbed in Golden Green, North London in an attack that police have declared as a terrorist incident.

[00:15:20]Uh the men, one in his 70s and the other in his 30s, remain in a stable condition in hospital as a 45year-old man has been arrested. It comes after a spate of arson attacks against Jewish property in London and recent weeks. So, let's go through the kind of timeline of events.

[00:15:40]The Metropolitan Police and its officers responded at 11:16 a.m. British Standard Time on Wednesday after receiving reports that uh people had been stabbed in Highfield Avenue, which runs off Goldish Green Road. The suspect is seen on CCTV footage taken on Highlands Avenue, uh, timestamped 11:15 a.m. He is jogging along the pavement towards Golders Green Road when he appears to attack a man who chases out of view.

[00:16:12]Another clip filmed from a car uh, driving along the Golders Green North Road shows a suspect chasing after a man on a pavement. And again, more CCT footage, uh, this time at 11:20 a.m. shows the suspect approaching a bus stop and repeatedly attacking a man waiting there who was then pushed on on the road. And as you can see on your screens, we have a number of different pictures describing the timeline of events that actually occurred um through CCTV footage, but also the attacks on these two Jewish men in Golden Screen.

[00:16:51]Uh multiple videos and image images of the suspect being detained by police which you can see in picture five have been verified by the BBC1 officer and officers tased him uh which sent the suspect to the floor. Police can then be seen administering uh CPR and later footage shows the suspect being lifted on a stretcher into an ambulance. The Met Police released footage from the bodywn cameras of the responding officers and the clip appears to show the suspect walking towards the officers before the taser is employed deployed I should say and officers are heard yelling drop the knife repeatedly before the suspect falls to the ground. They continue to repeat the instruction and kick him while the suspect is on the ground as they work to restrain him and get him to release the weapon. And the video footage we see there is courtesy of the Metropolitan uh police force. Um Haley, uh what was your response to those images that we've actually seen and stuff as well, particularly in light of the fact that the Metropolitan have been criticized for being handling that terrorist suspect um too violently. Um in my opinion, it wouldn't surprise me if the police actually shot him dead because they wouldn't actually know whether he had a bomb that's right >> on his rock sack or anything else. but they decided to taser him instead.

[00:18:13]Obviously, they're going to find out a lot more intelligence on him, who is the one that uh who radicalized him, who he's involved in and stuff as well.

[00:18:22]Unlike the terrorist who committed that horrendous attack at Heaton uh Park Synagogue in Manchester on Yon Kapoor last October, >> I think um first of all, the fact that this happened in Britain is shocking. a a a man being stabbed because of his religion, you know, and obviously two men. But the way that the um police dealt with it, I think it's incredibly unfair to criticize them. I think that they were so brave. They didn't know if he had a bomb. He didn't want to release his hands as we all saw in those videos.

[00:18:50]And I think that they acted really bravely and they shouldn't be criticized. The police have such a hard job and it's very easy to just nitpick, but no one else was there. They were there and they did what they were trained to do. And I think that the Metropolitan Police did a great job.

[00:19:06]>> To be frank, like this is my opinion. I can't believe we're here. We're even like criticizing the police for a man who's not listening to instruction with a knife who stabbed two Jewish men.

[00:19:17]>> Exactly.

[00:19:18]>> I think he stabbed his f his mate first.

[00:19:20]I mean, this is a man who's not cooperating. Yeah.

[00:19:22]>> And he's coming at the police and we're crit or some people. Have we lost our mind? It's crazy to me.

[00:19:29]>> Oh, we definitely have lost our mind. So let's go and find out who uh who these victims were. So two Jewish men were stabbed >> in the attack have been named locally as Schlami Arand 34 and Mosha Shine 76.

[00:19:44]Like I said earlier in part of the R program that Mosha Shine is Zami Unstofer's friend. Um and when you know people that have been stabbed, it even brings this home even more. And also we see that they were treated at the scene, taken to hospital. Uh Ran was discharged from hospital after receiving treatment for a serious stab wounds. Rabbi Levi um from the Jewish community wrote on X after visiting both men on Wednesday said that Shine's ind injuries were more serious. Rabbi Shapiro said although doctors were optimistic he would make a full recovery, Rand is living miracle.

[00:20:24]He could easily have died because of his wounds. He goes on to say, "Speaking to the BBC from the hospital, Ran said that he was relieved his injuries had not been worse, adding, I feel like God has given my life back." I mean, that's incredible. So, in all of this, not blaming God, but actually honoring God for actually giving his life back after this kind of terrorist incident. And uh >> and I that that sort of mindset is so what we see in the Jewish community, you know, it's the amrael high attitude that says no matter how much they try and hate us, our love is stronger and our love of life is stronger than their hatred.

[00:21:00]>> Absolutely.

[00:21:01]>> And driving it to driving it them into their faith more. I think that's uh that really is testament to as well what God is doing in the bigger picture, you know, with the fishing and the hunters.

[00:21:12]Um >> yeah, you're right.

[00:21:14]Further further in that report is recounting Wednesday's attack. He said he was walking down the street when the attacker came towards him just stabbed him in the chest. Asked whether enough had been done to deal with anti-semitism. Interestingly, Rand said definitely not. People are now afraid and it's been taken to a new level. He said it's not enough for Downing Street to make statements that anti-semitism won't be tolerated. It has to be changed in a very different way to get the streets to be safe again. Ran's mother was asked to be who asked not to be named. She told the BBC, "As a mother, I'm pretty horrified that these things would happen on the streets of London in an innocent community where we try our best not to hurt anyone." Schlomi was just walking on the street, minding his own business. "I was able to see him yesterday. Thank God," she said. He was conscious the whole time. She added, "The family had hoped he would be home for the Shabbat on Friday evening. And meanwhile, a friend of Shines who asked not to be named described him as a very nice, quiet, honest person. So incredible that she's horrified that this is happening.

[00:22:20]>> Yeah.

[00:22:21]>> Incredible his response. But interestingly, he said the country is not doing enough.

[00:22:25]>> Yeah.

[00:22:26]>> It's not enough just for the statements.

[00:22:27]In fact, interestingly, I don't know if you guys saw this, but on the front page of one of the Jewish papers, it gave the a prediction of the following statements. We stand with the Jewish community. we will not anti but in a way that's like actually we're going to hear this again with nothing being done >> it's the empty platitudes that we see every Holocaust memorial day every single time this happens it's the same words um and there is no actual uh quantifiable action that is then taken to specifically look after the Jewish people and they feel it and and any normal person any decent-minded person in the UK can also see it as well what are we doing to protect our Jewish community, our British Jewish community who are amazing in this country and have helped build our incredible society that we have. It's an outrage.

[00:23:14]>> Well, it's more than an outrage. It it shows that for example, the first role of government >> is to protect its citizens and clearly our government is not doing that. And considering the contribution made to British life by our Jewish community is massive, huge >> compared to the size of the actual community itself, which is just over 200,000 and probably getting less and less because many Jewish people no longer feel safe in this country. But their contribution to business, their contribution to the arts, their contribution to the economy, um, education >> and charity, >> charities, all these kind of things, uh, would literally just go and that brain drain would go >> if the Jew Jewish community would just get up and walk and which they might do if the government does not take this seriously.

[00:24:00]>> And I was I was praising the Jew the the police who actually helped that um, the stabbing attack. But you know what? We also have the Metropolitan Police protecting an alkuds march which is to support Hezbollah and one of their charters is the destruction of Israel and to kill Jews. So what sort of message is that sending the public and sending the Jewish people?

[00:24:20]>> I think we have to ask ourselves this very very important question. If we were living in the time of the 1930s and we see these Nazi hate rallies that are being organized across the UK and including London and we had that with the brown shirts. Yeah. [snorts] >> By the way, the protests against the Jewish community and how they tried to attack the Jewish community, particularly in the east end of London in the 1930s, >> would we have the same tolerance of these Islamist terrorist organization and their supporters? because literally whether it's Hezbollah, whether it's Hamas, whether it's Palestinian Islamic Jihad, uh whether it's Islamic State, whether it's the Islamic Republic of Iran or the IRGC, all of these people have at their very center of their religious extremist ideology is due hatred. And what this is is lamopascism.

[00:25:11]So would we tolerate this knowing that they have very similar views and opinions to that of the Nazis and giving them free platforms to spout their hatred and incitement to genocide?

[00:25:23]>> Yeah, you wanted to answer this, didn't you?

[00:25:24]>> Well, no, no, it's not that. It's like this tolerance. It's killing us. This there's a fellow called Gad and he writes about suicidal empathy and it's it's this, you know, we must allow everyone allow everything. But then it's it became almost like let's put ourselves down. Let's put Christianity down. And now it's like let's let's feed the Jews to the wolves. Let's allow that because of this suicidal tolerance. Why are we allowing >> marches on the street that's literally ended and resulted in anti-semitic attacks? Yeah, >> this is a fact. Why are we allowing this Islamop fascism? You said this, Simon.

[00:26:00]This is so true. And this is a saying.

[00:26:03]It's a well-known saying. And when I say it, you'll understand it. first the Saturday people then the Sunday people it won't finish with the Jewish people this is why it's suicidal but more than that this is about the Jewish people have been contributing to British society have been contributing amazingly to our nation for for you know ever since the 1800s ever since they they began to come over and here we are allowing for example and this is another thing I mean this illegal immigration people coming on boats that don't contribute and these people that don't contrib tribute. A lot of them have this Islamopfascist world view and they hate our Jews. Some of these guys are committing terrorist attacks after being in the country literally days, weeks.

[00:26:45]>> This is crazy.

[00:26:46]>> He hate our country as well and his values as well.

[00:26:48]>> They hate the West Christians as well.

[00:26:50]Yeah.

[00:26:51]>> Yeah. Absolutely.

[00:26:52]>> Absolutely.

[00:26:52]>> So, uh there was an excellent article uh published in the Daily Telegraph and this was reported on Thursday the 30th April under the following headline. The 10 square miles where Britain's Jews are under siege. That's the title. Says, "For the community in northwest London, this week's stabbing were no surprise.

[00:27:12]They're seeing the rising tide of anti-semitism everywhere. From the busy pavement cafes dotted down gold road, you wouldn't immediately know that the neighborhood was under attack just the day before. In the glare of the spring sunshine, locals stopped to chat in the street, to tuck into large plates of Middle Eastern food at an al fresco restaurant tables. Life in this lively suburb goes on as much as it does before. But just beneath the surface, there's anger. On Wednesday morning, terror came yet again to the Jewish community concentrated an area of northwest London that stretches from Finchley to uh north uh Wembley in the west with Gold's Green forming the eastern point in the triangle. Two Jewish men were stabbed near Goldis Road following a spate of arson's attacks against the Jewish property in the past few weeks. And we can see there where golden green is on the map of London and this is the area where all of this incident took place and a time frame of of events as well. And I think we have to understand as well that literally the Jewish community in the UK is tiny. It's just 10 square miles >> of our country >> and that's it.

[00:28:30]>> That is where the vast majority of Jewish people in this country live.

[00:28:34]Okay. And to think that, you know, I've worked up there in Temple Fortune, know Goldish Green very well, know the whole area and stuff as well. Yeah. Pretty well. Um, and of course Jewish people want to be surrounded by the Jewish people because they feel they're safe in numbers.

[00:28:49]>> In numbers. Yeah.

[00:28:50]>> But clearly now they don't feel safe, do they?

[00:28:52]>> No, they don't. And I think that of course in a democracy we should be allowed to protest. But when the police cannot police that protest to ensure that um hate type um slogans are managed in the way that we have seen their failure to do so on the prop palestine marches or even deliberate in intimidation for example the great central synagogue which is just off the Portland road. They wanted to put the march and they did have the march go past the side road which has the um the synagogue on it during Shabbat when they could have used a parallel road which is the main road anyway. So this is absolute intentional intimidation and um the fact that there is this excuse that it's about Gaza or Palestine is ridiculous. you know, I I saw some of my Jewish friends went straight to Golders Green um after this attack with an Israeli um flag >> and they were filming this woman who came up to them. Um she did happen to be Muslim and she said um well this is this is for Palestine as if that justified it. What difference? This man didn't ask them what their stance was on Palestine when he stabbed the 76y old and the 34 year old. This is nothing to do with that. It's pure Jew hatred. And what we've seen really is what's happened in Israel has now come to our shores and has been exported. You know, you can't expect to see this in Gaza. You can't expect to see this in kind of Jerusalem.

[00:30:19]And Israel had a massive problem to do with uh knife terrorism back in 2016.

[00:30:26]>> But this is not about Gaza because they don't really care about the people of Gaza. They don't really care about the uh the Palestinian Arabs. What this is about is unifying their community >> and using the whole issue to war of Gaza and Israel as a means to Islamize and take control of our nation and and essentially destroy our freedoms, our democracy, everything else to bring in Sharia law and so we've become an Islamic state. Now, uh, the Telegraph does quote some factors behind the recent, uh, terrorist attack that took place in Golders Green and and we praise God that, uh, these two, uh, Jewish men are alive and can share their stories and, uh, there weren't any fatalities.

[00:31:10]But they say that several factors are common. uh Lee cited the pro Palestinian marches in London in which some activists have used the controversial slogan uh gloss globalized the interifoder is one uh what many Jews see here as a lack of leadership from the government in cracking down on anti-semitism is another speak too of the proliferation of hatred on social media as you mentioned they said this uh all the politicians are coming out saying they're shocked says Rachel a 28-year-old tutor But I feel these attacks are a direct result of allowing weekly marches. Protesters are allowed to walk around and say globalize the interifard. Well, this is it. The interfa is globalized. We were waiting for this. And then we see that further up the road, a 79year-old known as Michael agrees. He says all these protests have accumulated. He says they've let them get away with it with a lot of unfortunate language and there's a lot of hate generally uh not by anyone but a good portion of the protesters which has influenced a lot of other people. There's a social problem in this country with people looking for causes.

[00:32:26]So again we see that the Telegraph has identified two areas and I think both of you done that [clears throat] very well on this program. First the mass protest demonstrations and of course it was only recently where Jewish people said that they feared going into central London on a Saturday because they felt like the area around Parliament uh and Charing Cross and the whole area and and Waterloo was a no-go area for Jewish people because they feared they'd get attacked and of course all this is being fueled on on social media as well. Um and of course this is something that needs to be addressed but but share a little bit more about how other for example Ellie Hart uh it's been described in the Telegraph as well is also feeling because I think it's very important to get the views and opinions of Jewish people who have given their comments uh to the Daily Telegraph.

[00:33:17]>> Sure. Well, Ellie Hart, who's 39 and works locally, said there are worse options than a show of force and calls for deportation of foreignb born terrorists. I'm not going to come out and say no immigration because Jews are only in this country because of immigration, he says, but there needs to be more checks. And he conceds that there isn't one simple answer to what has been a rising tide of anti-semitism in recent years. Uh before October the 7th, uh London Jews reported an average of 58 anti-Semitic crimes a month. Far too many anyway. But in the period afterwards, this jumped to 132 a month.

[00:33:56]And in the past year, the number the past year, the number declined slightly to 96. But this remains almost double the pre-war average. In the London burough of Barnet alone, which contains the city's largest Jewish community, Gold's Green North, 983 anti-Semitic crimes have been reported to police since the Hamas terror attack in Israel in October 23. And this compares to 434 over the same length of time prior to the conflict. A couple of miles from Golders Green, the Jewish community in Henden reported 154 incidents. And uh Joanie Gatsworth, who's 70 and a retired charity worker uh born and raised there, feels that anti-semitism Britain has never been so bad. Paying for his shopping at one of Hendon's kosher butchers, Gatsworth is wearing a blue baseball cap because my wife made me wear it, he says, lifting it off to reveal its kipper underneath.

[00:34:55]And this is a very worrying sign. These are Jewish people. They lived experience. This is what they're going through. double the record-breaking for this country levels of anti-semitism since October the 7th and it seems to be getting worse and now these knife attacks you mentioned Jerusalem but 2016 the the IDF Israel dealt with that if we don't deal with this >> we might lose the Jewish community and and I'm saying this as a as a as a pastor as and you guys who know prophetically the Bible this would be a travesty for this nation I mean spiritually I mean until in terms of judgment and >> I I won't go into too much detail, but this would be terrible if Jews can't live here because we can't keep them safe.

[00:35:34]>> Yeah, absolutely. It would be shocking and um I think it would be a massive judgment on the UK if we lost our Jewish community. This is not a country I would want to live in. Um because this is this would show that there is something so rotten to the core that we've not been able to deal with it. This is not a country I would want to raise our children that we would want to live and we would we would leave. Actually, we would leave as well. And what I find so shameful about this whole thing is that it seems like our nation and our political leaders including the uh Archbishop of Canterbury and our the established church >> are failing to look at history.

[00:36:11]>> Yeah.

[00:36:12]>> We went to war against Hitler and Nazism during the Second World War to actually defeat and confront this evil.

[00:36:20]>> This evil we know with due hatred metamorphosizes into something else. It never stays the same. So of course today Israel is the one being demonized as a as the n as the Jewish nation the Jew among the nations is being demonized and that same ideology is here >> and it's embedded and it's now become mainstream and of course you have to learn from the lessons of history in order how to defeat it.

[00:36:46]>> Yeah. And considering the Jewish [sighs and gasps] response to the Second World War, they contributed more soldiers in our army, navy, and air force than any other ethnic community at the time. And how many Jewish people lost their lives in RAF Bomber Command? And and many of those who are involved in bomber command wore their Magenavids >> proudly even though they were warned that if you wear that and you are shot down over over enemy territory o over Germany and then you are caught wearing a star of David it'll be horrific for you. They said no we're proud Jews wearing them and we're fighting against this evil ideology and that's exactly where we are now. But I think it's important as we kind of discuss that horrific uh terrorist incident that occurred last week in golden green that we should actually see what our prime minister Sakir star's response to this crisis been. So take a look.

[00:37:47]Well, I've just held a Cobra meeting bringing together all the relevant partners um including the home secretary, uh the London mayor, the Metropolitan Commissioner uh to coordinate our response um and to look at enhanced security. I've also spoken to CST. There is enhanced funding already in place. Uh we need to increase that to give the level of protection that is needed. But of course um it's our responsibility um to coordinate the immediate response here to uh this appalling attack to ensure security is in place to take other measures. Um I'm holding a meeting tomorrow with the criminal justice agencies to make sure that we can have effective and swift justice uh in these um cases. But we do have to recognize the levels of anxiety and concern uh there are that I know about um in terms of the Jewish community feeling very much um exposed and vulnerable, feeling they've got to hide their identity sometimes in the health service, sometimes at school, on the streets where they live. Um and it's our job to make sure that they feel safe um secure. It's our job uh to uh make sure that we absolutely deal with the roots of anti-semitism and extremism.

[00:39:04]That is what we will do.

[00:39:09]And that was courtesy of 10 Downing Street and uh our Prime Minister K Starmmer talking about the latest terrorist incident to occur against our Jewish community. What I find surprising as well is that our government holds a lot of responsibility for what's happening on a number of different factors.

[00:39:28]>> Yes.

[00:39:28]>> Firstly, we see that with this government, they've made Israel their public enemy number one. Yeah. And uh we saw that uh during the height of the war against Hamas in Gaza, we saw that our then foreign secretary David Lammy coming out making statements saying that Israel is committing war crimes, they're committing crimes of genocide and deliberately carrying out a policy of starving the gins by preventing international aid being given h and demonizing Israel. Yeah. So of course then people are going to listen to what our our foreign secretary said then and then he's reported on the news and say look it's Jews who make up the majority of those in the Israeli army. This is what they're doing in Gaza. Therefore we need to demonize Jews in this country.

[00:40:15]So share with us your reflection on what this government has done to contribute to this growing hatred and also attacks on our precious Jewish community. When um David Lambi said that statement, it it tallied with a certain time when Ainatan, which was a two hostages were released um Hamas released some footage um of two hostages that were literally gone like Holocaust victims and one was digging their own grave. And during that week that that was released by Hamas, this is when Kia Starama was saying, "Let's let's reward the terrorists by giving them their own state." And then David Lambi was coming out with everything that you've just said. And so they are contributing because they're not actually coming against it in any way.

[00:41:03]>> They're affirming it all, aren't they?

[00:41:05]>> But they're not actually doing anything.

[00:41:07]I mean, I think they pledged 25 mil or something, but they're not actually doing anything to stop this. We're not getting to the root of this. They're allowing these marches. They're allowing this this hideous um uh uh this hideous anti-semitism that we're seeing in social media on our streets, you know, uh uh and allowing this narrative that somehow the world's problems of is Israel, this illogical narrative, so few Jews in the world, so few Jews in this country, and they're they're busy. They they I think as soon as they came into power, one of the first things they did was cut some of our defense contracts of Israel. uh putting pressure on Israel, denouncing Israel, constantly giving and then when a terrorist attack happens, when a Jew is attacked, oh, we stand with a we stand with the Jewish people and all of this stuff, but it's just with talk and you can see you can see the the response of the Jewish community. You see that speech that David Lammy get in Manchester heckled.

[00:41:59]You saw even Kiss Star at the we uh in Golders Green. He was booed, heckled.

[00:42:05]You know, the Jewish community don't want to hear it anymore.

[00:42:08]And of course obviously the Jewish community deserves so much better. I >> I mean there was high expectation uh wasn't there Haley when um Karma became prime minister because his wife is Jewish, his children are Jewish. Um he he marks Shabbat every Friday evening.

[00:42:25]So the Jewish community thought they have someone in power who can identify with them, understand how the Jewish community works as many in the Jewish community helped get him elected in 2024.

[00:42:39]>> That's right.

[00:42:39]>> Um so what's your reflection now on how the Jewish community feel towards our prime minister who is again just giving platitudes rather than actually addressing or dealing with any of this.

[00:42:51]Yeah, I think there's a sense of betrayal and I say that because only last week when he visited the hatsalah um ambulance there was a crowd outside of Jewish people saying protect our children asking Kama protect our children actually stop with the words stop with the platitudes and protect our children the fact that Jewish people cannot walk around and be visibly Jewish is more than an outrage as we've already covered and this is actually why as Christians Tim and I when we walk around we wear a Star of David which is why I've got this on here. Tim's got a badge which has an Israel flag and the >> really the anti-semite isn't it?

[00:43:30]>> Yeah. Because we actually we've got the we've got the luxury. We can take this off because we're [snorts] Christians but Jewish people don't have that luxury and we our message really as Christians and I would love to see all Christians do this. We would both love to see all Christians wear a Mag and David as as like a solidarity. You're safe around us. just to say at this time as anti-semitism is so it's now at like the critical level we should be shown as people Jesus is Jewish there's nothing wrong with wearing this and we stand in solidarity with the Jewish people >> that's happened historically uh because Denmark during the second world war when uh the Nazis were occupying Denmark yeah >> um they forced their the Danish Jewish community to wear the yellow star of David >> and then And then the king of David, king of Denmark said, "We all need to wear the yellow star of David." So they all wore the yellow star Davids. And that was enough then to get the Jewish community out to safer land in in Sweden that saved the Jewish community in Denmark. So again, collective action is needed. But >> but give us your thoughts on the um the response of Kem Bendio, the uh leader of the uh opposition.

[00:44:42]>> Yes, Kem came out quite strong. In fact, the Jewish Chronicle reported on Thursday the 30th of April under the following headline, anti-semitism is a national emergency, says Badok after Gold's Green stabbing. Calls for tougher measures against uh anti-Jewish extremism following the double stabbing attack in North London. The leader of the opposition described anti-semitism Britain as an emergency following the stabbing in Golders Green on Wednesday.

[00:45:09]Kemi Badino said that there is a national emergency in the UK which police are treating after this attack which police are treating as a terror incident. And the home secretary also labeled the situation an emergency on Thursday morning though stopped short of using the phrase national emergency stating it would carry implications for democracy. Badock however urged stronger government measures against anti-semitism. She called for increased funding for Jewish security organizations which includes the CST and Shamrim, a volunteerr run group from the Kedi community that currently receives no government funding whatsoever. Shaman volunteers were first on the scene, don't forget in Golders Green on Wednesday morning. In an interview with the Jewish Chronicle, Kem praised the bravery of the volunteers saying it must have been absolutely terrifying and yet they ran into the face of danger. They don't run away from it. So brave. So I pay tribute, she said to Shumrim and those police officers who stopped this from being a much bigger attack that it could have been and lives were saved.

[00:46:15]We're seeing Jewish people attacked. She said it's not just today, but last week there was a man in slow who was attacked in the most horrific way. We had the Heaton Park murders. We're seeing even businesses not just that are just selling cakes like Gales being attacked for simply having an association perhaps with Jewish people or with Israel. We have newspapers like the Guardian writing as though that's normal. There is a normalization of this kind of rhetoric and and this kind of attack and I think that's abhorrent. So a strong response by Kian and the kind of response I believe we need from the leadership of the government from the leadership of this country. the kind of response that recognizes this is an emergency cuz if you don't nip it in the bud now, if you don't stop now, this will just get worse and worse and worse.

[00:47:00]If you don't get to the root of the problem and the root of the problem with uh within uh Islam and within the the mosques day in day out within that far-left ideology or indeed the far right, and I will add this as well, I'm increasingly concerned by Christian influencers who are anti-Israel and becoming more and more anti-semitic.

[00:47:20]>> Absolutely. I'm talking about Gales as well. So my my wife uh when she's working in London will on a Friday deliberately go into Gales and literally buy a halal loaf >> because it's showing support for Gales, but it's also showing support for the Jewish community. And it's great bread as well. Anyway, let's go and see the response uh from the Israeli government now. And this is the great Sharen Hascal who is the deputy Israeli foreign minister talking to GB news in light of this horrific terrorist incident that took place last week in Golders.

[00:47:55]Uh I can point out the finger to the government who hasn't done enough in order to protect and defend the Jewish community who should have taken that far more seriously of when they started to push the red lines with verbal abuse and verbal violence that should have been stopped. But they've been so sensitive to every single minority in the UK where you even write a post about it and they send cops to their home in the middle of the night and arrest them. But if you uh uh target or verbally abuse a Jew, that's absolutely fine. Including chance for death for a genocide.

[00:48:39]How is that possible? And then, you know, every meeting we had, we've been warning, you know, the the the the the the attack and the death in Manchester, the terrorists attack there. This didn't just happen.

[00:48:55]This was inflated.

[00:48:58]There's a huge finger that needs to be pointed to many demonstrations that were calling outright for violence to bring the antifada into the UK. That means to bring death and destruction into the UK and into London. And they were allowed to go and chant those death slogans out in the streets to to verbally and physically attack Jews and Jewish communities.

[00:49:27]Okay? And the media, the media who exploded and demonized and created more and more lies and propaganda about Israel, about Jews.

[00:49:46]And that was a great interview there by uh GB News with um Sharon Pascal from the Israeli Foreign Ministry. She's an amazing woman. um Sharen Pascal and uh she has that moral clarity and uh she knows what evil is and she's a great spokesman and I first uh met her in 2018 when recorded an interview with her in the Israeli Kzite and the cool thing about Sharen is that she she wore Converse like trainers.

[00:50:15]>> Yeah.

[00:50:15]>> Actually in her office and stuff as well and I've been in touch with her in her office um ever since. So, it's great to see that she's in that position of influence now being Israel's deputy foreign minister.

[00:50:26]>> Yeah, absolutely. And fantastic. She's strong and courageous. She's not afraid of saying it how it is. And it's good to see a woman in leadership as well.

[00:50:32]>> Absolutely. There's quite a few in Israel, including our former Israeli ambassador, who was a great ambassador for Israel in the UK. Um, do you want to read a very in the dying moments of this program uh because we're coming to the end of the program very shortly of what Jake Wallace Simons has said because he's written a very powerful article in the Telegraph which should make us all shudder.

[00:50:56]>> Absolutely. He's uh he wrote on the Friday the 1st of May uh a piece titled Jews have Israel. It's the future of Britain that are fearful.

[00:51:07]Very very strong words. He says, "Successive governments have put plating the country's most bigoted minorities over protecting the most patriotic ones." A Jewish joke some years ago during the stabbing into father in Israel when ordinary Arabs started knifing their Jewish neighbors at random. I visited an old school friend who now lives with her husband and children in Jerusalem. It was a Friday afternoon and I asked her about her plans. She said, "We were going to pray at the Western Wall, but we're just going to stay home and stab ourselves."

[00:51:38]There were waves of knife violence around 2016. Um, but the response of Israel was quicker intelligence sharing, deployment of police. They had checkpoints, movement of restrictions.

[00:51:51]They uh uh cut out uh social media anti-semitism and incitement and mobilization. Deterrence included home demolitions for anybody responsible.

[00:52:02]Now, can you imagine if Saki Starama and the government responded like that? He goes on to say that following October the 7th, a friend in Israel were messaged to see how she was coping. And according to his phone records, this was two weeks before the IDF invaded Gaza.

[00:52:20]Even so, the marchers were already disgracing London with police officers posting with pictures with the activists. So he goes on to say to gold as green as I write Hassan Zumlot the state of Palestine's ambassador to Britain has not responded to the attacks on X. Instead he shared a video of himself being named diplomat of the was at the heart of the community I grew up in. One of the stabbings happened outside a synagogue he recalls from his childhood and Jake goes on to say that truly Britain has been fanning the flames with one hand and funding fire extinguishers with the other. In addition to Israeli style security measures, we need a counterpropaganda campaign to overcome it uh incitement in universities, schools, the NHS, the media, and the arts. We need systematic reforming rights, a dedicated anti-semitic unit, anti-semitism unit for the CPS and and he goes on to uh give more suggestions including crank cracking down on dodgy charities, which I think we've mentioned the other week.

[00:53:24]But now I'm doing StarMA's job for him.

[00:53:26]rights. Don't get me wrong, it isn't the Jews who need this. We may be the first in the firing line, but there's a reason they have survived for thousands of years. We've got Israel. It is the future of Britain and the West. That is the worry.

[00:53:40]>> Very chilling, isn't it? And and down to the few minutes. I mean, wouldn't like to see the government actually firstly outlaw the Iranian revolutionary guards.

[00:53:47]Y >> ban the Muslim Brotherhood. Absolutely.

[00:53:50]expanity >> and the Iranian ambassador out of the country and close the Islamic Republic of Iran's diplomatic mission down. That would be a start.

[00:53:59]>> But also, I think they should then stop these Islamic hate preachers coming into the UK to radicalize the the Islamic community here. And where imams are preaching hatred against the Jewish people, then uh they need to clamp down on that. But also the other aspect I think of this one as well is that those who are receiving benefits, their benefits should be cut. And isn't it time that this government really did get to grips with this because if they don't, we're not going to have much of a country left, are we?

[00:54:27]>> No. It's it's all going to go downhill if they don't. And they have to get in to do it now. They need to be in schools. It's really important. It's the next generation. And when you have the um actual educational material talks about Jesus being a Palestinian, Israel committing genocide, that's not helpful.

[00:54:44]It's not factually true. And um so they need to get into every level. I completely agree with what um Jake said in his article and this should have been done yesterday. So I hope that the government actually um does something of benefit.

[00:55:01]>> Absolutely. And and don't doesn't the church in this country and even evangelical Christians also need to wake up to this because they might see ah this is a problem only affecting the Jewish community maybe that's true today but tomorrow be all of us >> you know actually this is a big thing the silence of church leaders the silence of those who have visible authority within the church and Christians in general those who buried their head in the sand those even worse that actually hate Israel and are are using influence to promote an anti-semitic agenda. This is the time, make no mistake, wake up. This is a time when Christians need to be seen to be praying for standing with Israel and the Jewish people. This this affects us spiritually as a nation. But don't, as Jake said, as people keep saying, it won't end with the Jewish people. It never does. So, it's actually suicidal.

[00:55:54]But for a Christian, we know the scriptures. We know the blessing the Jewish people have been. The blessing they are to us. How much uh God has blessed the nations. Wow. What a time to be silent. Not a time to be silent. We need to be awake and make our voice heard.

[00:56:07]>> Yeah.

[00:56:08]>> And Na also the the big call that God has placed on your life and Tim's life as well is to educate the church and to confront this subtle underlying due hatred that is within so much of Christian theology. 30 seconds.

[00:56:23]>> Absolutely. Um, replacement theology is a real uh a curse in the church and we miss out so [snorts] much I think on what God can do with us and through us and reaching people and um I feel like it's so important. Every minister out there needs to get onto a training course about anti-semitism because a lot of them are anti-semitic and they don't even know it.
