The video effectively exposes the state's cognitive dissonance in criminalizing individual consumption while simultaneously orchestrating mass animal culls for international optics. It is a sharp critique of how legal systems weaponize morality to mask systemic inconsistency and social control.

This YouTuber Ate a Dog for a Video..
Added:Ladies and gentlemen, I'm super excited.
As a YouTuber of many years, I've developed a pretty keen sense as to what kinds of videos, you know, what sorts of topics are going to start a fight in the comments. And uh today, just by a stroke of luck, we've managed to combine pretty much all of those topics into one 10-minute long video. Boy oh boy, you sure do live for the days like this, don't you? Ladies and gentlemen, we've seen a lot on this channel. I've made well over a thousand YouTube videos at this point and only like the first 25 or so were just of me being an idiot in middle school. So, I feel like it's pretty safe to say at this point that we have seen a lot of crazy [ __ ] But, what's the craziest thing we've ever seen? More specifically, what's the craziest thing we've ever seen a YouTuber do? Let me be clear. We've seen a lot of YouTubers commit a lot of different crimes, but a lot of the crimes, while they're like heinous and they're disgusting, they're not necessarily like crazy because they are crimes that a lot of people are unfortunately willing to commit. So, while they might be deplorable, they might be despicable, they might be [ __ ] you don't even want to talk about. In the grand scheme of things, they're really not that crazy. A YouTuber, however, who I don't know, uploaded a video of him eating a dog as a form of protest against rising livestock prices.
Yeah, that's pretty [ __ ] crazy. And unfortunately, that is not something that I just came up with off the dome as an example. That is the topic of today's video. Recently, a Moroccan YouTuber whose name, I believe, was pronounced Ben Nesnness was arrested after he posted a video onto YouTube where he skinned, cooked, and ate a stray dog.
The video was surprisingly removed off of YouTube not too long after it got uploaded, but apparently it got about 200,000 views before that happened. I don't have the original video for you today. Even if I did, I have a feeling I probably wouldn't be playing it. Now, there is still a video of the dog up on his channel. Again, I'm not going to be playing this one. But it's of him seemingly picking up the dog off the side of the street looking pretty dead already. It seems like one of the big points of debate around all this is that not only people on social media, but also the authorities seem to think that this dog was alive and he killed it. And he's claiming that it was already dead, that it was roadkill. And before we take a look at what he actually said in that video, because he said some pretty interesting [ __ ] I think it's important to note that the reason that he did this, or at least the reason he claims to have done this, was, like I said, as a protest against rising livestock prices. And more specifically than that, it was meant to protest the rising cost of sheep during Eid. And if you don't know what Eid is, basically there are two different Eids each year. They are Islamic holidays. And one of them, a central ritual, is to sacrifice a sheep, goat, or a cow. And as I'm sure you could probably assume in many Islamic countries during Eid, livestock prices go up because of all the extra demand.
And the reason this YouTuber claims to have done this was to protest that happening. Hence, you know why he uploaded a video of him cooking and eating a dog. Now, to the surprise of nobody on planet Earth, a lot of people have a lot of strong opinions on this. I have my own opinions, but we're going to get through like what actually happened, what we know, what we don't know before we start talking about opinions because I think there's a lot of nuance in this story that is essential to forming a full reasonable opinion. So, like I said, he uploaded this video as a form of protest. Apparently, it was taken down pretty quickly and not too long after that, he was arrested in a town called Martill in Morocco after apparently the video went like viral across the country and it pissed a bunch of people off. And according to some Iraq media sites, the offenses that he were charged with were animal mistreatment and insulting Islam. As of right now, it seems sort of unclear as to what those charges might bring, like jail-wise. But it seems to be a very public thing and a lot of people are pissed off, which is uh, you know, never good if you're trying to beat a case.
It's gotten a lot of attention from animal welfare groups with the head of Al Rahama Animal Welfare Association saying that his video showed a dangerous level of detachment from human values.
even going as far as to say that the video presents a negative view of Moroccan society. Now, like I said, I think the main like point of discussion here is whether or not he killed the dog. And again, I'm not going to be showing the dog that's in the video that's still up on his channel, but uh in my opinion, it does look like Roadkill and he threw up a wall of text at the beginning and the end of that video, and I threw them through Google Translate, and here's what they say. The first one reads, "Note the dog in the video, I didn't slaughter him. I found him dead by the side of the road after he was in a car accident. The video documents that I found him and didn't kill him. So, stop saying I slaughtered him. Everything is documented and proven. This is how my life has been since I started YouTube. I've done everything and all that's left for me is to go to prison. I'm looking for it.
It's better than prison anyway. I'm sick. Everything in life is easy for me.
I've been dead for a while now. Take care. Now, obviously, I think that there is a bit of stuff lost in the translation there, but it doesn't seem to be a very positive message. I can say that much. The second bit of text says, "My brother, your fellow countryman, wants you imprisoned, and you laughed and entertained him in videos. What's left for him to do in life? We all make mistakes, and woe to the poison and hatred in this country. There are people with pure hearts, but unfortunately, most hearts have turned black with envy, and they only want to destroy your life.
What's left to live for in this life that has become nothing but negativity and the poison of people?" So, I mean, some pretty strong messaging here, but consistent is the fact that he claims to have not killed the stalk. Now, really that seems to be all the uh like concrete information I guess that we have right now. Who knows how accurately everything is being reported, but this is the stuff that's being reported. And uh you know, honestly, I'm very torn on this. Like look, if it comes out that this guy did go out and kill a dog just for a YouTube video, even if it was as a form of protest, not cool. Obviously, I would have a major issue with that. But, uh two hot takes. The second one, I think, is going to be the hotter one depending on who you are. But uh first of all, and I don't know if this is even a hot take. I feel like this is pretty reasonable. I'm not going to do it. And I probably don't want to be your friend if you do it. But I mean, if you want to eat roadkill, I'm not going to [ __ ] care. Like, it's dead already. I wouldn't do it. But if you want to eat something that has already been killed in some other way and you want to make sure that like it doesn't go to waste, I mean, why would I care? Genuinely, I don't think that is harming anything.
Obviously, again, if you are like hitting [ __ ] with your car for the sole purpose of eating it, no bueno. But if something dies as a result of an accident and it's an animal that you can safely eat, I'm not going to lose sleep over it. I'm sorry. I don't care if it is a dog. Maybe that makes me a bad person. I don't know. Pigs are just as intelligent as dogs. And I had bacon this morning. So like really, what leg do I have to stand on to be like, "You are a terrible person if you're eating a dog that's already dead." Now, secondly, and this is the much bigger one, uh, but personally, I do not think that any form of religion should have any place in any form of government. So, at least for me personally, I cannot get behind somebody being charged with insulting a religion.
Now, if this guy is Islamic, which there doesn't really seem to be any information on whether or not that's the case, then I mean, you kind of make the bed you sleep in, right? If you support and buy into a system, you can't really be all that upset when that system has support, right? But personally, I just can't really get behind a government punishing somebody for something that's like dictated by religion. And I definitely cannot get behind a government punishing somebody for something that's dictated by religion if they don't even practice that religion.
And furthermore, you know, beyond anything that's related to like morals or religion, because that's going to be very personal. I cannot get behind a government punishing somebody for eating some roadkill, even if it is a dog, when that same government is trying to kill every single stray dog in the country.
Yeah. Yeah. So, the Moroccan government is planning to kill 99% of all homeless dogs across the country before they host the World Cup in 2030. And they've been doing it by shooting them, poisoning them, or burning them alive. So, I mean, are we [ __ ] serious? Like, really, if you have some sort of moral objection to a person eating a dog, I get it. I totally understand that. I think that's a pretty normal thing to feel. It's something I could never do. It's something I never want to do. But cultures are different and people eat different things. It's not something that I'm personally going to condemn someone for doing, but for a guy to be imprisoned for eating a dog that was seemingly already dead on the side of the road by a government that would have killed that dog if they saw it, it's like, you've got to be kidding me. I personally just cannot stand for that.
Even if the guy did something that I just can't really agree with, I feel like you've got to look at the bigger picture here and see the insane hypocrisy at play. And like look, I'm aware of the dangers that having an outofc control population of stray dogs in a country can bring. And I mean, if there's nowhere for them to go and they just can't stop the reproduction of them, there's really only so many options. I mean, most countries kill stray dogs if they aren't adopted. But the idea that at least based off what I've been reading over the last 45 minutes or so, that you can go out and shoot a dog in the streets and have like no repercussions, but if you eat one that was hit by a car, you can go to prison. Just seems backwards to me. I mean, I feel like one is definitely worse than the other. Maybe I'm crazy, though. Well, guys, what are your thoughts? Personally, I can't wait to get DMs on Instagram of people saying, "Oh my god, August, I can't believe you want to eat my dog." Because I know that somehow this will be twisted into that.
Like I said, if this guy went out and killed this dog for a YouTube video protest, I would have a completely different view on this. I'd be much more angry, much more upset. But, I mean, again, like I said, somebody eating roadkill is not really my biggest worry.
And two, when you as a government are just murking every dog you see, it's really hard for me to think that you taking any action against a person who is eating roadkill is fair whatsoever.
Like I said, if you disagree with those things, that's fine. We're all allowed to have our own opinion. But I do think the hypocrisy is impossible to ignore.
That's just me though. Curious to see what you guys think. I'm sure the comments section is going to be sunshine and rainbows. See you.
