This video documents Sugar Snap, a severely malnourished and sick dog (19 lbs instead of 50+ lbs) who was found collapsed on the road and received emergency veterinary care including blood transfusions and antibiotics for anemia and sepsis. Despite multiple setbacks, he gradually recovered, gaining weight, learning to walk, and eventually being adopted by a loving family. The story illustrates that with proper medical treatment, patience, and dedicated care, even severely injured or abandoned animals can make remarkable recoveries and lead happy, fulfilling lives.

His bones pushed through his skin, but he still kissed our hands as if thanking us for saving him!Added:
A man and his child saw Sugar Snap lying on the side of the road, on their way to school drop off.
They picked him up and brought him to the local police station, where he was then taken to us.
We rush him to the emergency vet, and get him started with treatment.
We named him Sugar Snap.
Sugar Snap currently can’t stand or walk on his own, but he perked up when offered food, and chomped up all the food he was offered.
Sugar Snap is a fighter.
He is 19 lbs, when he should be 50lbs + Sugar Snap, our little fighter continues to be so brave.
He’s still anemic and sepsis remains a very real concern.
Late last night his blood pressure and blood glucose dropped.
Today he’ll receive a transfusion, and we’ll start an additional antibiotic to try to stabilize him.
Sugar Snap has a long road to recovery, and we hope this is a minor bump, we know he’s in the best hands possible!
Sugar Snap is holding steady at the emergency vet.
He’s getting everything he needs, and then some right now, and we’re very grateful for that.
It’s up to him and his body, that has endured so much, now.
Guess who’s back on his feet?
Sugar Snap is the best boy and a fighter.
He still has a shine/twinkle in his eyes, that tells us he’s not done nor giving up.
He’s had some setbacks recently, but has made tremendous progress in the last 2 days, and hope that continues.
He still is in critical condition and will need continued hospitalization.
His values have dipped once again.
He is going to receive another blood transfusion today, Sugar Snap is hanging tough.
He isn’t exactly improving like we’d hope.
Sugar Snap seems to be in brighter spirits today!
His values are slightly improved and he’s wagging his tail again.
He got to spend some time soaking up the sun and trying to take a few steps.
Sugar Snap is having another good day!
He’s gained 4 lbs so far, and is now able to stand on his own for a total of 5 minutes.
we are so proud!
He has a little fever today, but is still eating well and is overall in great spirits.
Sugar Snap is taking steps!
We are approaching 2 weeks at the emergency vet, We have received are covering the entirety of his care which is a miracle!
as his current estimate is over four times the original quote.
Sugar Snap is still doing well!
Today his NG tube was removed, so he will be eating on his own officially without supplementation.
We know he can do it!
He is expected to be discharged in a few days!
The miraculous turnaround from a dog who was near death on the streets, to one who has an entire city behind him is nothing short of incredible.
Day 20: After exactly 20 days at the emergency vet, Sugar Snap has left the building!!
It’s only been three days but Sugar Snap, seems to be looking prety comfortable in his foster!
Sugar Snap has been in foster for one week!
His foster reports he is getting stronger every day, has found his voice, and is learning how to play with toys!
He’s up to a whopping 30lbs!
Sugar Snap is weighing in at nearly 34lbs.
is more mobile than ever, and has even learned how to beg for food!!
Can you believe this is the same dog?!
He is weighing in at over 38lbs and is officially running.
Sugar Snap’s foster reports his fur has started to grow back, he’s making big strides with house training, and his favorite activity is following his foster-brother around.
He is officially double his original weight of just 19lbs, weighing in at about 40lbs.
Each day he gets stronger and more of his personality is revealed!
He’s shaping up to be a very goofy and playful pup!
Sugar Snap has officially gained enough back leg strength, to hop up on the couch!
Sugar Snap has officially been adopted by his foster home!
While in foster he learned how to run, play, and all the fun things a young dog like him should do.
Sugar now has a dog brother, Fitz, and a cat brother, Noodle.
Not only is his mom a vet, but his dad too!
We truly couldn’t have asked for a happier ending for Sugar Snap!
Giving major annoying little brother energy today.
But I think Fitz still secretly likes having him around!
And the number of times this clumsy boy has rolled off the couch, totally unfazed!
Sugar Snap deserve a happy life forever!
We had a perfect summer day during our park walk and I think his head is growing bigger from all the compliments from strangers he gets!
Got complimented on our big head (that’s getting bigger by the day) Baby’s first beach day!
He was unsure of the water at first, but when his auntie went in he surprised us all (and himself) We had a perfect summer day during our park walk by leaping right in and swimming!
But I think he scared himself and decided he didn’t actually like swimming at all!
We settled for some fetch in the shallow water, but when he saw his mom out in the water he had to give swimming another try!
I think he faced his fear and became a pro doggie paddler by the end of the day.
I can brush my own fur thank you very much!
Begging for Fries!!!
They really DO love each other.
When they all cuddle together my heart just explodes!
Post-neuter recovery is going well!
We were a little sore the first day or two and definitely needed his meds, but he’s basically back to his normal self now.
The hardest part is keeping him calm so he can heal!
Poor cone barely made it through his recovery, but it’s finally off and he’s all healed up!
Now he has 2 weeks of activity restriction to make up for!
Enjoying this warm fall day!
Enjoying this beautifully warm fall evening!
Poor Fitz had to take a tumble for to beat him to the ball, and he was VERY proud of himself Who cares about toys? We’re really into human hands this morning!
Almost gave it back to him, because could that face at the end be any cuter??
When your dog is unfortunately not a couch potato, you end up running through deep snow fields at 10am instead of sipping coffee inside Such a little instigator!
Multiple overflowing toy bins, but he’ll choose a cardboard box every time!
