One Wrong Hole Could Ruin Our Cabin Build…

[00:00:08]What is going on everybody? Today I'm going to try to lay out all of my plumbing as much as I possibly can. Um I did not get the the pipe pipe. I got all the fittings. Okay. Um I don't really have a vehicle right now at the time that uh can carry huge pipes. So, I'm just trying to get my link together and then I can I can call in and order it. I have a lot of things going against me and doing the plumbing up here. One of which being uh these joists.

[00:00:46]They are spaced, you know, just so perfectly in the sense of 16 on center, but yet that leaves me a 12 and 1/2 in gap because of the way that the wood is oriented at 16 on center. That puts it a little bit more of a okay, that's going to be a little bit of a challenge, but I got it, you know, is in my mind. And then, you know, we throw in the AC stuff and everything else, and then it's a little bit more of a oh crap. I didn't want to go too crazy and buy the stuff that I don't need. I was so gungho, you guys. And I was like, dude, I'm going to do this. I'm going to do this. We're going to get into it. And then I mark a hole or a box right here. And I'm going to cut this whole thing out. And I'm like, wait a minute. I should probably hold off. I probably only need a hole to where I can go cuz I'm not burying the P trap, you know, below concrete grade level. I can actually reach it underneath the joist. So, as much as I want to drill the holes or cut out a hole for bathtub or shower, I'm going to hold off on that until I can put it on the ground and mark a hole. I can level out if I need to. I can do all these sort of things that I'm going to have to probably mess around and do, which I'm not looking really forward to, but at the same time, if I need to, I can. So, there's that.

[00:02:06]Secondly, on the shower/baths or whatever, I didn't really frame that out to be exactly 60 in. I gave myself more wiggle room. And that was just because I didn't know which way I was going and I could shift it one way or the other, you know, and I can build a a false wall on top of that and everything else. So, still going to have to do that. And I figured out where I'm going to have to do it in order for vent pipe or overflow pipe or anything else cuz you know like I said before 12 1/2 in spacing the floor trusses which makes things a little bit more complicated is what it is. All right. But I've got a lot of stuff figured out of where's what's and what exactly I've got to do uh to tackle the next feature which is, you know, drilling out the holes that I can drill out.

[00:03:57]Okay, there's that hole. There's no more uh Where's that toilet going? And uh what am I going to do here and there? You know, it's uh it's going right there.

[00:04:09]This is the chaos of what I had to figure out. Okay, there's a few bags of uh everything.

[00:04:17]I got 20 20 hangers that will that'll help me keep my fall that I need.

[00:04:25]Okay, here is the bathrooms.

[00:04:31]P trap 2in wide I believe 2in wide 2in sanitary I believe here's my other 2-in sanitary here is a cleanout cap another cleanout cap I've got a pocket 90 for the toilet I've got another pocket 90 over there for the toilet sinks 1 and 1/2 wide 1 and2 and a half wide for that sink over there. What are you? Are you the two? You are the 2 in. So, here's the 45 street. 45 street for the two. 1 and 1/2 in. 45 street. There's so much to it, you guys.

[00:05:21]So much. But at the same time, it's not not that crazy. one and a half to a quarter if need be depending on the P trap size that I go with. And then that same thing for over here. Let's see.

[00:06:04]There's a lot to do and a lot to grab. I moved everything around a little bit.

[00:06:11]I'm going nuts with all this piping and everything else to be quite honest. But I feel like it should work out pretty well. In the kitchen area, I've got this piping that's going to go basically in this corner area somewhere. This is going to be a corner sink area right there. I just want to make sure that all of my plumbing and all of everything is inside the interior, not on the exterior wall or in the exterior wall at all. So, we're going to keep everything right underneath in here, but I'm not exactly sure just yet cuz there is so many different types of corner sinks. So, I'm hoping I can figure out exactly where I'm going to put all that stuff and it's not going to be hopefully in my way and I'll be able to utilize it.

[00:06:58]We have this sink right here, which we did determine exactly what kind of vanity and all that stuff. So, what I'm going to end up having to do because here's another problem that I'm running into.

[00:07:10]All of the walls that are running this way, okay, are landing perfectly on a floor truss.

[00:07:19]So, I mean, it's this thing's sturdy and there's there it it's there. You know, it ain't going to do anything. And I'm supposed to drill through the floor truss. So, what I've got to do now is I've got to come on the inside of the wall and sort of notch it. Do it that way.

[00:07:36]and then come in this way and come up and uh then I sort of got to do the same thing. Then I come over here. There's the toilet over there, the pocket flange. Okay, now you can see that that 90 is quite a sharp 90, you know, but this is honestly the only spot that you're allowed to have that sharp of a 90 bend.

[00:08:00]Um, now I bought it just in case if I need it. I might not need it. I don't know. over on this one just because I might be able to uh just use the 3x3 Y or whatever combo. Now, I'm more than likely going to need that one over here just so I can knock it over here where the pipes are going to be sort of in line with where everything is. And then also bathtubs, you can do a 1 and 1/2 in. However, I don't know if Mel's going to want to shower later on. So, I'm going to just go with the big boy of a 2 in. Okay. I can always uh change the adapter and make it to where I can go from, you know, 1 and 1/2 to this itself. What you don't want to do is have this be a 1 and 1/2 and then have to have a two and then you're bottlenecking from two to one and 1/2 to three. You're not allowed to do that.

[00:08:57]Um, the only spot that you're allowed to do anything close to that, it would be in the uh the toilet range right there with the Pocket 90 the way that it is, that is a 4-in pipe, okay? Or a 4-in fitting to fit that toilet. So, it's a bigger diameter to really catch everything, if you know what I'm throwing. Um, and then it goes down to a 3 in. So, that's the only spot you're allowed to go from a four to a three. um in the sense of going downwards with the flow. You don't ever want to bottleneck it. You always want to go from the small or smaller sizes going up in size going down to your actual drain pipe. If that makes any sense at all. Definitely highly suggest, you know, if you're a DIYer to do a lot of research and find all sorts of information that you can and yeah, because there's a lot of different pieces out there. a lot of pieces, you guys. That's where I'm like, "All right, this is where I'm at. I want to know exactly, do I have enough of these pieces? Can I get some of these pieces?" Because as soon as I get all of it together, it's sort of like fitting everything together like Legos. And uh you sort of got to really plan everything out and get it to where it's like, "Okay, this is what's up. This is what I'm doing. Okay, let me uh let me go as straight as I can.

[00:10:21]And then I'll go from there to there.

[00:10:28]This is where it gets a little a little interesting. I'm trying to get avoid the AC connections.

[00:10:46]If that is mid AC's right around or that ducting is close to down that middle right there. I hope that can make it.

[00:11:26]60 right there. So, hey, it's going to be a little interesting, a little crazy in certain spots, I feel like, but we'll see what happens and how it goes.

[00:11:47]That's going to be it. That's going to be it. And it's all going to work out because what's going to end up happening now is I'll be able to get all of this stuff situated and ran. And it looks like I'm going to need roughly about 60 ft of 3-in pipe.

[00:12:05]I'll end up coming up here and doing all my vent. And because I have the ERV over on this side over here, I think I'm opting to put the vent over here on this side cuz I I don't want to be breathing in my my vent from my poo poo very bad, you guys. I'm just saying. Anyh who, so I'll be cut coming through the side. I don't want to go through the roof. I will be coming through and venting through the side on the gable end over there. So, it's going to be fun. From what I can gather and from what I can tell, I'm going to need 1 and 1/2 in vent pipe. This sink's going to go up.

[00:12:44]That's 8T. That's one. This is going to go up. Okay, that's two. That one's going to go up. That's three. That sink right there. That's four. I have another one over there for the vent. Just down the line over there. Okay. Six times. I got to go up 6 * 8 48. That's 48 feet.

[00:13:04]And then I got another what? 30 something.

[00:13:08]So 70 something feet. Yeah, we're going to probably going to need to order right around the same same ballpark. I'm probably going to end up ordering like 90 ft just to make sure that I can make it over there. I've got all that stuff situated. I've got that somewhat figured out where I'm going to go, how I'm going to go. I still need to vacuum up that hole that I drilled because I wanted to drill I wanted to drill the hole. I made it. I made it permanent. That's That's where it's going. It ain't going anywhere else. Next thing that I want to find out is the car big enough to hold the 10ft piece.

[00:14:30]I could probably only fit about six in there. I think I'm going to make a call and get a delivery going. Give me one sec. So, I went ahead and placed that order. Got all of uh my numbers situated and all that fun stuff. So, I've got some uh 2 in coming. I got 1 and 1/2 in a lot of 1 and 1/2 in just cuz that's going to be my vent pipe and I'm going to have to get it up in there and tie everything together. And I'm going to go one hole coming out. Yay. That's going to be interesting to say the least. Um, and then everything else should be able to uh tie into it pretty easily.

[00:15:17]When I say a few, I mean uh I got four of these. So, I guess it's more than a few. Or I guess it is a few. They are the uh Diablo series ones and they supposedly lock. Oo, they locked. That's nice.

[00:19:09]As you can see, I know it ain't the prettiest. All right, it's going to be It is what it is. It will hide. All right, but I've got a hole all the way through this double king plate. And there's the hole right there. So, it is uh kind of hard to see.

[00:19:28]Okay. But starts there, goes literally right in the center of this guy going all the way down to the center here. The bit held out and went through screws and everything else.

[00:19:43]That's what it's meant for. And yeah, I was surprised my uh my drill did it.
