Texas highway construction has systematically destroyed Black neighborhoods, exemplified by the I-45 expansion through Acres Homes, which demolished homes, businesses, and schools while doubling poverty rates and increasing pollution-related health problems; this pattern of urban renewal continues today with TxDOT's current $13 billion expansion project, demonstrating how highway infrastructure development has historically and currently targeted minority communities for displacement.

Texas Built Highways by Destroying Black Neighborhoods And They're Still Doing It Texas highway追加:
Texas built highways by bulldozing black neighborhoods, and they're doing it again right now. In the 1950s, Acres Homes was the largest black community in the South, 9 square miles, thriving businesses, families owned their homes.
Then the state built I-45 straight through it. They demolished homes, raised businesses, split the community in half. After the highway went in, poverty rates doubled, health problems from pollution skyrocketed. This wasn't an accident. This was urban renewal.
That's what they call destroying black neighborhoods for highways, and it's happening again. Right now, TxDOT is expanding I-45. The project will demolish 1,400 homes and apartments, 344 businesses, five churches, and two schools. Guess which neighborhoods are paying the price? The same ones that have been paying since the 1950s. $13 billion, 18 years of construction, same communities erased. Every time you drive I-45, you're driving over stolen land.
Drop your neighborhood in the comments if a highway destroyed it. Follow for the Texas history they're trying to bury.
