This Is Why Some People Believe Food Stamps Should Be Eliminated Completely

[00:00:02]Me and my wife been together a long time.

[00:00:05]Very long time, almost 25 years.

[00:00:09]And when we was younger, we was just like everybody else.

[00:00:12]Catching the bus, trying to get housing, on food stamps. We was young.

[00:00:19]We was young, man.

[00:00:21]22 and 18.

[00:00:24]Trying to raise two children that we had back to back.

[00:00:29]And when I tell you back then, I didn't appreciate the food stamps, the Medicaid, and all that the way I should have, not knowing a few years later our financial circumstance will change.

[00:00:51]And we won't be eligible for none of that no more.

[00:00:55]Now that our finances have changed and I don't get stamps no more, I don't receive Medicaid for my son. We got healthy kids.

[00:01:06]Boy, I'll do damn near anything for some stamps right now.

[00:01:13]I try and buy as much as I can, whoever want to sell them.

[00:01:17]Well, when I don't get no stamps that month from nobody that's selling none, and I got to go to the store with two $300, counting This $3.50. This $4.50.

[00:01:42]Because now you got to be responsible for your own food. You got to be responsible for your own stuff.

[00:01:48]Now you wish you was back on food stamps. Because you know why he wishes he would go back on food stamps? Because he ain't got to be financially responsible for what he eats.

[00:02:06]This just sounds to me like you don't want to be responsible and be a man and take care of your family on your own.

[00:02:15]That's the reason why we need to end food stamps. And this is the reason why prices is up. This is the reason why it's because we have people like this on food stamps that did not care about the price.

[00:02:48]I can see if you was a single mom, but as a man that has a wife and has kids, you wish you was back on food stamps.

[00:02:57]So, you basically want the government to take care of you and your family. This is not a man.

[00:03:03]This is somebody that's wanting to be lazy again.

[00:03:07]This is what food stamps created.

[00:03:10]It created lazy people.

[00:03:11]It created people who didn't want to do anything to take care of their family. They wanted the government to take care of their family.

[00:03:20]You were young, 22 and 18. You guys were young, had a family. Okay, cool. You got yourself out of it, meaning you guys both got jobs, you living in your own situation, you taking care of you and yours, what a man is supposed to do, but now you saying I wish I was back on food stamps.

[00:03:39]Now, do you guys see what food stamps has created? It created people who were lazy. It created people who didn't want to take care of their family.

[00:03:48]A man should never say this.

[00:03:50]You should be You should be upset that you are on food stamps.

[00:03:55]But granted, if you on food stamps for a limited time to get yourself right, get your family right, it is That's what it's for. It's temporary. It's supplemental.

[00:04:15]A lot of people are struggling right now because now they finally got to pay attention to the price of things.

[00:04:24]But you see why I say what I say now.

[00:04:32]I would do anything to get some stamps again. But it's kind of up that if you make over a certain amount, you don't even qualify for the But if you sit on your ass and do absolutely nothing, they'll give you the checks, the stamps, and everything.

[00:05:08]Rent going up, groceries high as hell, gas high as hell. Everybody can use a little assistance. I ain't rich.

[00:05:29]But when he was getting it, he didn't have this type of energy.

[00:05:35]We should never have food stamps at all.

[00:05:38]We should not give anybody any money for food.

[00:05:44]Because it's the attitude of people.

[00:05:46]But now you have people that was on it, they got off of it, they wish they would get back on it.

[00:05:51]But then if they can't get back on it, then what happens?

[00:05:55]They want it gone.

[00:05:57]I'm always going to feel the way that I feel because what did I tell you all guys? Food stamps isn't going to help you.

[00:06:01]It makes you weaker.

[00:06:04]At the end of the day, you know, it's really made our society weak as it is today because a lot of people, a lot of poor people refuse to do something to make themselves better.

[00:06:14]He put himself in a position to not need it. He makes more than the limit. That's good.

[00:06:19]So now instead of going on here and complaining and wishing he was back on food stamps or going on a little rant like a female, how about we figure out how we can make more money?

[00:06:28]As a man, we can't be crying about what everybody else is doing. We got to be locking in and getting more money.

[00:06:35]But I'm telling you all this is the reason why I say the things that I say about food stamps because they made a lot of people weak.

[00:06:46]I'm looking at my little flow, looking at my little few bags I got for $326.

[00:06:52]This ain't What would I do for some stamps right now?

[00:07:00]Boy, have times changed. Now, I know that's kind of up to say cuz there's a lot of people out there that really, really need it.

[00:07:07]But it's also up that they think cuz you got a few extra dollars on your pay, but at the same time, done went up 10, 20 dollars.

[00:07:20]That ain't evening out.

[00:07:22]You know what I'm saying? I don't mean to sound nasty and You know what I'm saying? But god damn.

[00:07:28]Help everybody out sometimes.

[00:07:42]And that is hard. That's the attitude is hard to change for people who coming off of food stamps because they used to a handout.

[00:07:50]You made money, you over the limit, you good now. Now you got to figure out how to be responsible. And now you got to figure out how to make more money. If the prices of things go up, just don't buy it.

[00:08:04]See what I'm saying? But the thing is though, that's the that's the that's the mindset of a lot of American people.

[00:08:12]Times is tough, give me money. Times is tough, give me food stamps. No, times is tough, figure it the F out.

[00:08:19]Make more money. How can I make more money to get the things that I want? If you want more food, get more money. If you want to go on that vacation, get more money. If you want that car, get more money. You want that house, get more money. Too many people first reaction to when times gets tough is running to the government.

[00:08:37]No, run to yourself.

[00:08:39]Okay, these groceries cost $326.

[00:08:42]You know what? Let me go ahead and get me a Costco membership. Let me see if I can flip it and get more stuff at Costco. Let me stop getting the dumb stuff that I don't need and only buy the stuff that I do need. You got to start looking at yourself for solutions.

[00:08:53]We got to stop crying and say things are tough. Hopefully the government need to help me out. The government don't need to do nothing.
