The catastrophic explosion at Blue Origin's LC-36 launchpad has severely compromised Amazon's LEO satellite internet project by destroying the only operational launch facility, forcing a complete rebuild that will delay deployment by months. With only 302 satellites currently in orbit and the FCC requiring 50% of the planned 3,236 satellites to be operational by July 30, 2026, Amazon faces an impossible deadline of needing 1,316 additional satellites. The explosion eliminated any competitive threat to SpaceX Starlink, which now holds a monopoly in the satellite internet market, allowing it to increase prices without competition. This demonstrates how single points of failure in launch infrastructure can determine the competitive landscape of emerging technologies.

Bezos Just Handed Starlink The InternetAdded:
Jeff Bezos just handed SpaceX Starlink the internet. What is going on? Let's get into it. Last night at approximately 900 p.m. Eastern time, Blue Origin's New Glenn suffered a catastrophic explosion during an engine test at LC36 in Cape Canaveral. Most of the media is calling this a rocket explosion that is completely missing the real story.
Rockets are replaceable. Launchpads are not. So today we're going to take a look at this explosion that happened over there in Cape Canaveral about 3 hours north of me and has really set Amazon Leo back. Jeff Bezos is not happy about it. Elon Musk is gloating a little bit and I want to get into the ramifications, the why this is important because that's what we're about on this channel. Not just the how or the what, but the why. So let's dive into the damages first. What exactly happened and how will this affect Project Kyper or now Amazon Leo? Well, to start out with this pad LC36 has been ongoing a transformation, an upgrade which cost about let's call it a billion dollars over the last decade, 10 years, and it's finished. And of course, their heavy lift rocket New Glenn was the catalyst for this. Well, that pad is now, let's say, extremely damaged. Well, it's not just the launch stand that's missing.
Well, the entire transporter and erector is obliterated by the pictures that we see. It's missing. A 600 ft lightning rod. They had two of them, I believe.
It's just gone. I think it just fell over or something. That's gone. The cryogenic plumbing, all of that, all of the lines gone. And of course, we have the ground systems and everything all around it. This all compromised. Severe damage around the entire pad. Now, people will say, "Oh, well, this is kind of similar to the explosion that happened at Masses when we saw the previous rocket of Starship blow up, right, during cryotesting."
This is much bigger than that. This is a big boom. That was a big boom. This is a bigger boom. Okay? This is a very big boom. So what we have to understand is unlike what mainstream media says, oh it was a rocket explosion. No, it wasn't just a rocket explosion. Yeah, the rocket exploded, but it's the pad devastation is the real story here. You see, Jeff Bezos doesn't have a plan B. There is no other option. They don't have another option. It is a single point of failure. LC36 is the only Blue Origin operational pad for New Glenn. That is it. There's no backup pad. There is no alternative launch site. There's no rapid recovery path.
It's literally have to rebuild LC36.
Probably another billion dollars or definitely hundreds upon hundreds upon hundreds of millions of dollars. And we're talking about months and months and months. We're not talking about a turnaround where it'll just be like a month down the road. No, New Glenn is grounded. So, one of the funniest things for me was Elon Musk quote on X.
Literally, the fire is still going on.
Okay, there's still fire on the pad. And Elon Musk writes this quote, "Most unfortunate rockets are hard."
Oh my god, you can't even make it up.
You got to love when billionaires give other billionaires tweaks.
You got to love it. Most unfortunate.
Rockets are hard. Um, yeah, rockets are hard. So, it sounds polite, of course, but in aerospace that basically is a hard hard dig. It's stating your timeline just collapsed. Okay. Now, why do I say that?
Well, I've stated this in the past, and I think that this is really, really important. This would have been the inaugural flight for New Glenn to place on orbit Project Kyper or Amazon Leo satellites. Never in the history of the 302 Amazon satellites that are in orbit has Jeff Bezos's company, Blue Origin, placed one there. Every single one that's there is either Aryan Space putting it there, ULA, United Launch Alliance putting it there, or even the Falcon 9 from SpaceX putting it there.
All 302, not a single satellite has Jeff Bezos ever put into orbit for himself for the Project Kyper or the Amazon LEO.
This would have been the inaugural flight. There were supposed to be 48 satellites on board, but luckily there was zero on board during the explosion because this was a test fire.
So, they ended up saving 48 satellites to give to someone else. And that's the whole point, give to someone else. Aryan Space, ULA, maybe they're going to have to beg Elon Musk for more launches from SpaceX because they don't have an option anymore. Once again, LC36 was their one point of failure. That's it. There is no other option. They don't have a plan B.
When the pad detonated, well, Jeff Bezos's dreams of having non-aterrestrial internet basically detonated with it because the bottom line is is Aryan Space ULA are not going to be able to put enough satellites on orbit quick enough.
And Elon Musk, I'm sure, is not going to give Jeff that much ride time to facilitate enough satellites on orbit to give Amazon Leo even a fighting chance. So once again, there's 302 on orbit as of right now. That is it. Now, they have said in the past that they only need about 590 or something like that, some kind of stupid number to be able to go live.
And I've always said in the past, it just makes absolutely no sense because I've been here using SpaceX Starlink for the last five and a half years or so. I was here just coming out of beta literally from the very beginning. There was 112,000 of us when I started doing this. There was now over 10 million just to give you a understanding. Okay. So, the problem here is is I remember beta times and I think there was about 890 or so on orbit when the beta started, but when it really kind of rolled out, there was around,00 to,200 satellites. So, the idea to have 590 of these just doesn't make sense. It hasn't made sense from the very beginning. Now, I know people have written in to the show and said, "Oh, well, you know, the Project Kyper or Amazon Leo satellites are higher, so they'll be able to have a bigger footprint. you don't need as many of them. Well, I did some research on that and that just doesn't pan out either because the Amazon LEO satellites are going to be sitting orbiting at about 590 to 630 km whereas SpaceX Starlinks beginning Gen 1's were at like 540 km.
So, you're looking at less than 100 km, maybe 50 70 km difference. That is not going to allow them to be able to go live with 500 and some satellites. Those numbers are absolutely fictitious. Those are the numbers that you hear in the media to play out this narrative that Elon Musk is going to have some type of competition in the near future. And I've said from the very beginning is absolutely impossible. So, how many satellites do they really need?
I would say that they would have to have about as many as SpaceX Starlink did.
Right? So, if we're going to shoot for, let's say, 1,200 satellites, and we have 302 in space, what do we have? A gap of 898.
898 more, guys. 898. They were going to put 48 more up if New Glenn, their super heavy, would be able to have done it.
But now that's gone. That's going to be gone for months, for a long time. Okay, long time. It might not even launch again until next year. We'll have to see how fast they can rebuild that pad. But by the video and the photos that we can see, that pad is pretty much so devastated. Once again, this wasn't a little boom. This was a big boom, right?
It took out a lot, a majority of that pad and all of the infrastructure within it. So, we talked about some math when it comes to going online, but see the problem is is that is really not the math that we need to talk about how many they need to be able to turn the thing on. The problem is is not a thousand satellites.
The problem is is the FCC gave them guidelines. Okay? They gave them almost like an ultimatum. They said, "Yeah, you want 3,236 satellites on orbit. That's fine. By July 30th, 2026, you need to have 50% of them up there working.
Now, I've said since day one, there is absolutely no way they're going to have that half number of 1618 up there. I said there was no way. I did the math like literally 6 months ago, and I said there is no way. I thought that they would have more than 302 to be honest with you. I was wrong on that side, but I did say there's absolutely no way that they can get to the 1618 number in that period of time, July 30th. They will have to ask for an extension or they're going to lose their license. That is it. Simple as that. So, if you take that 1618 that is required by the FCC to be on orbit and you take 302 from that, you end up with what?
1316.
That's how much they're short. They're short another 1316.
So it's absolutely not possible obviously, right? July 30th deadline.
Yeah. So they have 62 days. Okay. 62 days. So what would they have to do?
Let's say if you take Ary and Space out of the mix because half the time they can't even fly. Their their their flights are so far and few between. Same thing with ULA. They're not quick, right? They're not quick. These are not reusable rockets. It's not like a Falcon 9 that goes up and down and up and down and up and down. Some of them like 30 plus times and put cargo or put stuff up to the ISS or put satellites on whatever. They do it over and over and over. I think one of their rockets I think it's like 34 times or 35 times it's flew already. That's truly reusable. Okay. So, I did some math because I think that this is important just so you get an understanding. if they were to take Aryan Space and ULA out of the mix because we know Falcon 9 can actually get this done. And he begged Elon Musk and said, "Listen, bud.
Okay, I love you. You are my favorite billionaire and I need Well, I need 136 satellites on orbit and I only have 302 right now. Okay. Can I get a few extra uh ride shares with you? I know the Falcon 9 only holds 24 of my satellites.
That's okay. Let's do the math. How many are we going to need? Uh 55. Uh can I get 55 ride shares from the Falcon 9 in the next 62 days? Basically, a Falcon 9 flying every single day for the next 62 days so that I can meet my deadline.
Elon Musk be like, "Yeah, okay. Go pound sand." So, it's absolutely, like I said from six months ago, there is absolutely no possible way for them to be able to meet the deadline. So, they have to get an FCC extension, regulatory relief as they call it. And I think I think since the mathematics don't work, the math basically collapses.
They asked for this regulatory relief and they pushed it back like 2 years. I think that they literally asked for like a 24month extension. God, remember I told you guys six months ago this is not going live in 2026 like they said and I said this might not even go live in 2027.
I'm going to stand by my 2027 number.
They're going to push this back. They're going to try to get the 24-month relief.
They're probably going to get it because the FCC sees it as competition and right now Elon Musk has a monopoly and they don't like that kind of stuff. And I get that. Okay, I get that. Am I a fan of Elon Musk? Yes, I am. I love the guy and what he does, but I'm not a fanboy. So, if he does something screwed up, I'm going to tell you about it like I always do on this channel because I'm honest, okay? I'm not like mainstream media, right? And like pushing you to a specific narrative. I want to give you all the information and then let you make the decision for yourself. So, at this point, the new Glenn explosion has created a vacuum. a vacuum in non-aterrestrial internet. That vacuum is being filled by Elon Musk every single day with those Falcon 9 rockets and that is it. There is no competition. There is no one else out there. So basically Jeff Bezos has just handed a monopoly to Elon Musk where there was a while there where people were saying, "Oh, I can't wait to see you know the Amazon Leo. I'll pay the $30 for the service if I have Prime." That's literally what he said, too. I I mean, he doesn't even have satellites or a lot of satellites in orbit. And he already came up a price of $30 for Amazon Leo. Okay. $30 for Amazon Leo for Prime members.
And don't you love how you just like you sell stuff that doesn't even exist, right? This is this is what they do. You know, a lot of these people, it's always pie in the sky. This is this is what we uh think is going to happen, right? And then people believe it and then mainstream media will talk about it. Oh, look, $30. Just stop. Just absolutely stop. Now, we've seen price hikes now, right? Because SpaceX Starlink doesn't have competition. They do have a lot of congestion and they had a setback just a day before this explosion. The FAA grounded Starship because, well, Super Heavy blew up unexpectedly. The engines didn't come back on, which they should have on the boost back when it was to return to the Gulf. So, they're having a problem, too. But their setback is nothing compared to an entire pad blowing up. And once again, this was a bigger explosion than what SpaceX had with the Massie explosion. This is much bigger. This is catastrophic. So, if you remember in a previous video, I talked about the price increase, the hike.
There's no reason why SpaceX is not going to increase the price on Starlink when there is a lot of congestion. And instead of putting waiting lists out there, what did they do? They said, "Well, we're going to double the price of standby. We're going to go from $5 a month to $10 a month. We're going to take every one of our packages that are over $100 and we're going to increase it by $10. And every package that's under $100, we're going to increase by $5.
There's only one package that they didn't increase, and that's the residential 300. That's still 80 bucks.
Every other one went up.
market leverage, right? They have complete control. It is monopolistic.
But I would rather have Elon have that monopoly than AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, all the rest of them that just screw us continuously for years and years and years. The triopoly as I call it because I do think that SpaceX Starlink prices will go down when the version three satellites get up there. And the only way for them to get up there, of course, is with the Starship because they're massive. Each one of those satellites is the size of a Boeing 737.
It's big. They don't fit in a Falcon 9.
I know I get people in the comments all the time, why don't they just send up like two or three at a time? They can't do that. It doesn't fit in the nose cone in that fairing at the top of the Falcon 9. Okay? It just doesn't fit. And if it doesn't fit, you can't stick it in there. You can't cram it in there, right? So they have to wait for the Starship to actually quote unquote work.
So the big story here is like I said, Amazon Leo's deployment future is compromised. Period. FCC regulatory pressure is going to absolutely crush them because not only are they now having to rebuild an entire pad, the LC36, but now they have the regulatory pressure of trying to get that extension. If not, they lose their license completely. Of course, you have broadband prices are going up on SpaceX Starlink and orbital internet competition is pretty much dead.
Once again, this is the stuff that mainstream media doesn't tell you. And I'm giving you all this information so you could decide. What do you want to do? Do you want to wait for Amazon Leo or do you want to get SpaceX Starlink?
What is best for you? Now remember, it is not just about internet in space and so that we can just surf the web from anywhere on the planet. No, the end goal is AGI, having AI in space, having data centers in space. That is what they're trying to do. And I'm sure Amazon is trying to do it, too. But they just don't have the capability, the capacity.
They do not have the reusability to be able to make it happen. That's just simply it.
So, there's two things. If you are looking for SpaceX Starlink and you want SpaceX Starlink and you're looking to buy a new kit, all right, consider using my code down here. All right, go to jaychristina.com/starlink.
Why is that? Well, if you go there and you buy a kit, I get a free month. Thank you. But guess what else? You get a free month. So, if you want to get a free month if you're purchasing a new SpaceX Starlink, go down here. Go to the jacen.com/starlink.
That's the only thing that I get. I get a free month. That's it. I've never gotten a single penny. I don't work for these people. I do this to help other people out because SpaceX Starlink actually has helped me and my family over the last 5 and a half years. And it's a way for me to kind of give back by educating you guys. The other thing is is talking about AGI and AI. A lot of you guys are using grock and chatgpt and perplexity and claude and all the rest of these AI and you're giving away your data every single day. Stop doing it.
What I did is I created what is called the truth. Matter of fact, I'll put a link here, maybe here, wherever. I created the truth engine. All right?
Using free software on your own system in your house, you can have your own AI.
That's what I did. I use it every single day to come up with notes for my videos, all right, and do deep dive research.
The reason being is when you use AI online, not only are you sometimes having to pay for it, but they steal your data, of course, it's not private.
The main thing is is they have these guard rails and if you ask it a question that's outside of the guard rails, you do not get a truthful answer. So the truth engine pulls down those guardrails and you will get the answer if you like it or not. I programmed it so it does not have feelings and it doesn't care about yours. That is it. It gives you the raw information. You do with it as you will just like what I do on this channel, right? That's it. Anyways, take a look at that book. It is downloadable.
And what's really really nice, it is a living book. Meaning that every time I do an update, if I make a modification, if I add something in the frequently asked questions, whatever, it will automatically send you over the new book. So, you will always have a current book. You don't have to buy a new one.
You buy it once and then every time I make changes or updates or I make it even better, you get that in your email.
Hey, there's an update. You want to download it? You click yes and you get it. All right, which is kind of cool.
Anyways, if you enjoyed this content, throw it a thumbs up. Please share it with your friends, family, colleagues, on Reddit, on Facebook, wherever, maybe on X. All right, that will help out.
Share the channel. Share the video. If you want to give back for all of my hard work, there's a thanks button. Click on that. Give a dollar or two if you like.
If not, it's perfectly fine. The video is still free. Consider becoming a member of the channel. That would be even better. And if you want more SpaceX Starling goodness, I'll put a link here to about 750 videos or something that I've done in the last 5 years. A ton of helpful how-tos, tips, tricks, what to do, what not to do, what to buy, what not to buy. And of course, the why behind all of it is, like I said earlier, the why is what this channel is all about. Many blessings to you and your family. Stay safe, stay healthy, stay connected hopefully through SpaceX Starlink, not Amazon Leo. And we'll see you in the next one. Love you guys.
