This video explores how individuals navigate difficult health decisions through community support and shared experiences. The hosts, both cancer survivors, discuss personal challenges including pet care decisions, medication management, and lifestyle changes. They emphasize that while each person's health journey is unique, sharing experiences within a community helps individuals realize they are not alone in their struggles. The conversation highlights practical considerations like medication side effects, dietary changes, and the importance of listening to one's body, while demonstrating how online communities provide emotional support and practical advice for managing health challenges.

Gamer's Health Live! Making Difficult Decisions - Tonight, Sat May 9th @ 8PM ETAdded:
Folks, we are live. Welcome to Gamers Health. I am Eric Tankar, your bartender in the OSR. And with me as uh on every Saturday night.
>> Hey y'all. I'm Ra, >> the the one and only Ra.
It's going to be a great great show. I I can't I can't do orange. Is it orange bulk? It's gonna be great shoe shoe. No, that isn't >> I have no idea.
>> It's before our time anyway, but I was saying >> Well, if it's before our time, it's going to be probably well >> Yeah.
>> Well past anybody else's.
>> Yeah, it was it was in the era of black and white TVs. So, um yeah. Again, what you doing, Rich? Oh, I saw this like looking out at me and it looked like some kind of little flower and I'm going, "Oh, what's he doing with the flower? Let me check that out."
>> It's It's a pink D10. This is the reason why we don't have the puppy in his room that often now because Rachel's just dropping dice on the floor randomly [laughter] and >> there's just too much [ __ ] for the puppy to ingest and have to get surgically removed.
>> Jimson, welcome. Um, let me uh Let me uh put this micro. Damn, we look professional now. We got a microphone right out there.
>> Uh a stranger on the internet. Hey, I finally got to drop into a live stream.
How's it going, you wonderful people?
>> Hello.
>> Very good. Uh RPG Grandma, awesome to see you. So, uh for those that are new to uh the live streams here, um I'm usually doing a live stream three nights a week these days. So, Wednesday night is talking crit, myself, Bad Mike, Jim Kitchen. Uh we talk gaming, we talk uh game events, we talk uh events in the hobby and Jason often have special guests. Uh Thursday night, it's uh hosted by Don Samar or Wizard Tower Games and we pick gaming related topics to delve into. And Saturday nights are pretty much uh it's gamers health.
>> Yeah, it is us. It it is uh your night at your local bar with your favorite couple. Um sharing stories and remembering that you're part of a community. It really is uh the community part. Fugly, welcome. Uh Nicodemus.
>> Oh, what a cool name. I love it.
>> It's actually Nicodemus Shadowcaster.
>> Nice.
>> Uh Squirrel Lords of Gaming, welcome. My ear trumpet has gifted a membership.
>> Oh, dang. Already. Oh, two.
>> Um, >> that's >> Jidditix. Jiddit's ear. Uh, you've gotten uh you're you're a minion. So, welcome to the >> welcome to the realm of minions, by the way, folks, just to let you know. I'll remind folks as we go on.
>> Yes, I'm grounding I'm grinding out the lives, the videos. Um, I got stories on that. But in any case, um, after this live stream, I will probably take about a 30 second uh, bio break and then I'll be jumping into Angelo's live stream on DM and friends.
>> I'll be feeding the puppy.
>> She'll be feeding the puppy, but I'll be continuing this for another 20 or 30 minutes with Angelo. Gu, good to see you, sir.
>> Yay, Gu.
>> Um, so that's tonight. Tomorrow night, 8:00 p.m. I'll be doing uh pretty much an AMA uh State of the Tavern updates.
Um anybody can attend and watch, but only members will be able to participate in the comment section.
>> So, um Jitixer, uh you know, tomorrow night you'll be able to uh comment when when others will not be because you are currently a minion. So again, thank you to my ear trumpet for that. Uh that puts it I think the numbers fluctuate, but I think we're around 3:25 right now. At 350, I start marking some stuff down that tavernous publishers. Pay what you want. Uh open question for anybody.
Favorite snacks and drinks for game night.
>> All right. Um f I you know that Mountain Dew thing is legit, but it was always Mountain Dew uh code red. Um >> I don't think I ever had that.
>> Yeah.
>> Was it cherry or something?
>> Yeah, it was like a cherry uh Mountain Dew.
>> Um and when I had my face tof face gaming group back in the 90s, uh Gu just gifted 10 Gu >> Goo just gifted 10 members. So, uh, yes.
Um, thank you again, Gu. So, here, uh, uh, Green Country Agroforestry, Jeff Jones, uh, Larry TV Drew, uh, WG269, Dead Recker. Oh, I like that one. Jeff Jefferson Starship is already a proud minion. The Fatal Tea, uh, Admiral Aubrey, uh, Louise Rickon and Mark General Mixer.
>> Wow.
>> And and then and of course, Agile is in the mix. Gifting 10. Thank you. God bless you, Agile.
>> So, um, if I screw, you know, I'm going to screw up some last name, so I might just go with some first ones, but Elaine Zenometer, Dr. Death. Oh my gosh, that's a that's awesome. Dr. Death, uh, user GK and a bunch of random uh I I can't I'm not going to try to even fake pronouncing that. Uh, BQ Berlin looks maybe it's from Germany here. Uh, Janette Ransom DM Knuckle Bones BV Luminous.
Uh, you just just you're you're all awesome.
But our go-to food when I was doing face tof face gaming is we would we had a Wendy's about oh god just over a quarter mile from my house. It's where they filmed uh the coming to America scene at the fast food. They converted it to uh whatever the brand the fake brand was.
>> Oh.
>> So that's where they filmed that scene those scenes from Coming to America. But we would go over there. We would get our Wendy's. This is like early 90s, mid 90s, and uh eat like pigs, you know. So, it was walk over, get your food, pig out, and then get back into the game.
Um, my year trumpet, thank you again, sir.
Uh, Hikandi has received a guest membership. I >> know.
>> This is This is honestly the uh best it was best community ever. [snorts] >> Ever ever. You You all are just amazing.
Yes, Coming to America was a great movie, but the fact that they filmed those scenes so close and what was annoying is that that same group that was back in the 80s when they filmed it, >> Mhm. There was like a week we couldn't get our uh our Wendy's. You couldn't get your Wendy's, man, because it >> they were filming.
>> They were filming and it took time to reset the branding, all that stuff. So, yeah, that was >> But we we persevered. We survived. Um but yes, tomorrow's uh tomorrow's uh live stream, there's going to be some announcements. There's going to be some changes. I think uh most of the changes are are very much for the for for the best for uh the minions especially. But um you know we're trying to we are trying to uh and by the way we're not changing the aesthetics of this channel.
I am never going to start editing. So don't you you're never going to get that high high quality. Uh uh >> you're not going to say jump cuts.
>> No my god. And there are times I wish I could because it's like, well, I sounded like an idiot there. I wonder if I could just cut that whole 10 seconds out and pretend it never happened. But that would require me to learn skills that I have uh probably no uh interest in doing. So, yes, Don, some interesting things coming. Actually, I I gave a hint to the uh the super minions and the master minions uh earlier in the uh the YouTube postings. So, and yes, I will be using the YouTube postings on a much more regular basis. Uh it's a great way to contact the community. And I'm going to remember folks too, remember folks, remind folks, you see, if I had a jump cut, I would have taken that out. Um remind folks that the discord is very active these days. It's where we are holding the uh the open table and uh we got dedicated community well dedicated channels for BX AD and D uh original or white box if you want to call it that and just general old school discussions.
Uh a stranger on the internet. Um, I used to order some Chinese delivery from my favorite little hole in my small town and they'd always know the order when I made the call for my whole group just by my radio voice.
>> A >> Yeah. Hey, you know, before I I became a cop and I used to work retail, I used to go to the same two restaurants and then >> I realized it was a Chinese food restaurant that I started going to. I used to always get the uh the uh dice ch diced chicken with uh peppers red peppers and peanuts.
>> It was very But I wanted to go in and change my order one time, but the moment I walk through the door, I hear the order being screened out. Well, that's us cuz like you know we do the same like at our Chinese spot now like >> you have to call ahead so that they [laughter] do a menu >> you know cuz like >> like one of our our waiter tends to he has lower English proficiency so he he learned what we like >> and it's always going to be that.
>> Yes. So, he's got it and he's got it down and and it and it it's it's >> good for me because I can't um fall back and be like, "Oh, let me get some general sauce chicken." No, it's going to be steamed broccoli and chicken >> with uh with brown sauce on side. Yes.
Yes.
>> Uh brown rice, hot and sauce soup.
>> True diet. Yes. You [laughter] got By the way, I have the uh >> the uh what do you call it? the uh pepper steak with onions. The onions are very good. They're nice and sweet.
>> So, um >> do we have Let's see. No doctor's appointments this week, right?
>> No.
>> Oh my god, that's that's that's like a real >> I have one on Monday with the endo.
>> Uh Tina, welcome. Good to see you. So, we you know, we're we're scheduling stuff. Um, next week's show we might be in the Poconos.
Just saying that's what it looks like.
We may get away for a couple of days, but that's important that we get to get away for a couple days because I guess we'll kind of dive into the making difficult decisions. Ra, you and and by the way, I'm going to point this out like Don and Tina, you've been married for years. Um, you probably are at the same spot that we're at where you can read your spouse's mind just from like general intuition days before the announcement is made. So, um, I h I kind of knew that Ra had some some concerns and uh, so when when when she brought them up, I was I wasn't surprised. I I was kind of relieved that we were talking about, [laughter] you know, because Rachel um we were both looking to forward to going to Texas for NTRPG con um and uh you know being able to enjoy that. We we have for the past several years gone well since we started going we've always gone together and >> right 2014 we missed the year the earth stood still >> right and so um this year we got our puppy >> yeah last last summer we got our puppy >> and >> she's just gone one year old um she's never spent a night not sleeping on either one of us.
>> Yeah.
>> Usually she ends up on me for the duration.
>> Well, she she starts out on me >> and then when I get to the point where it's like I got to roll on my side. You can't be in between my legs all this.
Then she gets upset and then she'll plop on ree. But then as the night goes on, she'll try to like lie between us and like >> and and stretch. But yes. and then it doesn't stay that way and then she's backed out being on me. Um and so I, you know, we don't have anybody that really can take care of her in our house.
>> Yeah. Our our prior uh our prior dog was a Dodson and she was much our Dodson if she stayed downstairs with my parents, she would escape and run upstairs and want to come back into the bedroom.
She didn't need to be with people. she just wanted to be in her place. Whereas uh our puppy um >> she's a cavoo and cavoos are very much uh >> lap dogs and um very like velcro dogs.
But but she but on top of that though, she has a lot of energy and uh the parents are >> in the 80s and >> and it scares them to >> um like they've never taken care of her before, right?
>> You know, um >> I don't know that they um >> she took my she just appropriated my dog.
>> I don't know that they have the desire to really >> Yeah. You know, she's a lot of She's a lot She's a lot of dog in a little package.
>> Yeah.
>> Okay. That's probably the best way I can put it.
>> Yeah.
>> You know, by the way, folks, if you haven't seen this, um I got that at at at Total Con. I have no regrets. I know it's a noisy little sucker, but I would never use it in game.
>> Fidget dye.
>> At Fidget Dye, but my god, it is it is addictive. It is scary as crap.
>> Um, [clears throat] and so yeah, like uh um that made me it makes me worried to because I was looking up um places where to board her um you know trying to >> um >> come up with something. Yeah. And there looks like a nice place um about a mile away from us, but I don't know. I just didn't feel quite right >> at this age. And that's fine yet, >> right? But the thing is >> and maybe maybe I don't know. Maybe like with a different trip if we take a different shorter trip.
>> Yes. And then board her so so that she could work her way up.
>> Yes. It's a long trip for your first boarding. Yeah, we we probably should have been training that the way that we trained everything else, like training her how to be around the groomer and how to be touched and, you know, all those other things, but also how to be taken care of by somebody else >> is something failed to uh train for.
>> The woot monkey fell down and just wants to say hello. Um, I'm just saying uh Daniel uh uh and Gustavo from Brazil, welcome.
>> Beautiful.
>> Um, so again, I'm going to just do a quick recap. There are generally three live streams on this channel every week.
Uh, Wednesday is pure gaming, geeky gaming news. Uh, special guests, myself, Bad Mike, Jim Kitchen. Jim Kitchen, by the way, does the auctions at all the major cons including North Texas, Gen Con, um Gary Con. So, yes, Jim Jim is he knows all. He sees all. Um Thursday nights, it's uh Don Tamora, Wizard Tower Games. He hosts the uh live stream, but I I trying to cast it here.
And after the live stream, I hop into our Discord and just hang out and BS.
And then we have Saturday night. And Saturday night is literally community night. Um, and we call it gamers health because we know that. And not everybody is uh gee, Ra, who who's the healthiest uh who are the two healthiest uh guys in the OSR?
>> Oh, our gigachads.
>> Yeah. Who are the gigachads? [laughter] Who are the gigaads?
>> Um, oh my god, it's um my god from New Hampshire. Um, >> Jeff Jeffian >> and then um from Canada um >> Greg >> Greg Gillespie.
>> There you go. Um not everybody is is these two fine specimens. Most most of them most of us are are general people like the rest of us. Um Ra and I are both cancer levels of trying to >> trying to improve.
>> Ra and I are both cancer survivors. Um 2020 I never came down with COVID but I was still hospitalized three times.
Pneumonia, sepsis, uh congestive heart failure, um all all the fun stuff. And we do the Saturday night live stream to remind people that you're not alone, that other people have challenges and your challenge may be unique to you, but it's probably not a unique situation and you're not you're not alone in it. And I will say this, I do talk with a lot of our community members uh via Discord and via Facebook who keep me updated on their their challenges and their health. And it's uh Yeah, Fug, you can be a nano Chad. That that's awesome. But uh you know >> Oh, Fugley is too. Yeah.
>> All right. Foo is a nano Chad. All right.
>> Right. He's he's >> he's he's in good shape.
>> Yeah.
>> But uh >> like he works on it.
>> Yeah.
>> Like actively like, how do you say it? Like his heart is really in it.
>> Yes. So, I mean, listen, I I happen to be Catholic, and my joke is I'm a practicing Catholic, which means I've never gotten it right yet in 58 [clears throat] years. Um, that's kind of like with my health. It's it's a constant challenge.
>> All right. I mean, uh, but I can truthfully say that I've got my weight down to actually under 250, 249.
>> Um, I've been on, uh, Munjaro. This is this is a second trip on Mjaro, but I've been on it now for two and a half months.
Um, and it certainly changed the way I eat.
I I got to say that it is uh >> Well, you change the way that you eat, you know. [laughter] >> Well, because because when you did it the first time, it wasn't the best.
>> Yeah, it was not the best.
>> Yeah. You you >> you know, I think you started to change it a little bit before you started taking >> Yeah. But I really, >> you know, as because you were ramping up to take it.
>> Yeah. I I I went into it with was it eyes wide open this time. Like the last time I was on Lunaro um and it wasn't covered by my insurance at that point, but they gave you a good coupon for the first year and then they jacked it up.
But uh I mean my first time I didn't understand that [snorts] your your brain sends you signals that you're full. I just knew that I have a plate of food in front of me and I'm going to finish that plate of food and then I would be sick with heartburn and nausea and I haven't compl Have I complained about nausea rage?
>> No, not at all.
>> A little heartburn, but I mean not not bad at all because I'm >> Yeah, because the way that you're eating and the food that you're eating.
>> Yes. like you're not like um [gasps] you're not like trying to overcome the thing the >> I'm >> overcome the medicine.
>> I'm not I'm not saying I can eat a whole restaurant plate of pasta. I was doing >> or just like eating sh eating eating bad food like crazy amounts of like fried stuff. You know, we don't really eat fast food as much. No, we cut down a verb >> because we knew we didn't feel good after.
>> No, it feels good going in though. Uh, stranger on the internet. Uh, we're trying not to uh make you hungry again.
>> Uh oh, wait. But but yes, RPG Grandma is a very good cook and she's uh she's talked about it a lot and I I she should put out a recipe book honestly. So, you know, if >> Oh, that would be great. And which reminds me, I'm about to say if if Fugly can do a coloring book, then RPG Grandma can do a cookbook.
>> I have to do the forward for the coloring book for Fugly. So, um I'm going to lay that in my wife's hands to remind me to get that done.
>> Oh, okay.
>> There we go. And I publicly stated it that I got to get it done. So, >> okay. And yeah, you know, so like the best food choices weren't being made, but now that you're making better choices, the medication, you don't have as much consequence behind eating not so well.
>> No, no, you you don't. And again, you got to listen to your body's signals.
Well, I think that that's true because like uh as you change diet, you know, and and some of the medications that we get, you know, do help us um put some of the brakes on um our desire to, you know, uh whatever whatever uh whatever hit we're getting from enjoying like sugary foods or chocolate or >> that's more, >> you know, things like that.
>> I I I prefer the savory. It's like So for me at night when I have my glass of wine, I'll have a little cheese. I may have some uh >> uh bacon jerky. Um and I'll have some incant peanuts and maybe a little bit of pistachios thrown in. Some corn nuts, which is like my weakness, but and uh and Catalina Crunch, which is a low carb snack. And that'll you've noticed how long I'll look at you if you are snacking and I'm like reach I take forever to snack now. I used to eat very quickly.
>> I've really slowed myself down when I was a kid. It was if you didn't eat fast, you didn't get seconds.
>> Oh, >> you know.
>> Yeah. [snorts] >> So, you better eat fast if you like it.
If you didn't like it, then you ate slow. [laughter] Um or or or you put it behind the uh the radiator in the kitchen when I was like >> you have to hide it. Yeah.
>> And then and then I was stuck sticking into my chair cuz it was one of those vinyl chair. Yeah.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I'm just I'm just saying. Uh Don, I am more of a savory snacker.
Uh Jiman, since I retired, I let my diet and exercise routine slip a bit and the lab work reflected it. back to the treadmill for me and a lot more home cooking trying to stay off the meds.
>> Um, yeah. Well, and the thing is when you do home cooking and honestly like >> Well, you know what's going in.
>> You know what's going in and you know how to flavor it usually without salt.
>> Yes.
>> Okay. So, like I when we were doing Home Chef a couple of years ago and I was doing the cooking, I've got high blood pressure. I got heart problems. I can't have all those seasonings. I mean, I I would just go and go, "Oh my god, so much salt." But and Ra will tell you, is my uh seasoning collection pretty uh stocked?
>> Oh, yeah.
>> I I've got seasonings coming up the Wazoo. And uh I was able to duplicate that those flavors that I was testing like like they test cocaine in the old shows, right? It's cocaine, right? Yeah.
>> Oh, >> I think they're just testing it to make sure it numbs the lip, not tasting it.
Well, >> oh, that tastes like cocaine.
>> Uh, Angelo, welcome. Eating quesadillas tonight, I think. Oh, God bless you. I wish I was >> yummy.
>> Actually, you know, we actually had some uh Purdue. The wings were Purdue wings.
>> They were Purdue.
>> They were those were Purdue.
>> Those were really good. They were like a lemon pepper.
>> They were They tasted like restaurant wings. Really, really nice. The uh jalapeno poppers were uh they tasted more like macaroni cheese balls that were breaded with >> I didn't like it.
>> Yeah. You know, with >> it didn't taste like much of anything >> with little green things in it.
>> So, I was like, why why finish it?
>> It just doesn't really taste like much.
So, I I gave it to him. [laughter] >> Uh, a stranger on the internet. You eat what you got, you eat it quickly, and you don't let any of it go to waste.
Now, let me dump four pounds of food on your plate, >> you stupid six-year-old. Yes. Yes. I [sighs] I didn't like the peas, so I would stick them in my chair. It got so bad that my parents actually had to have the radiator in the kitchen.
>> I had to pop the peas under my plate.
>> Oh, no. It wasn't happening. I would get caught for that. I I got away with this for a long time.
>> Line them up under there like >> But but when they found the peas in my chair, the chair was getting lumpy.
>> That's how they figured it out. The >> They're like, "What the hell is in here?"
>> But then it but then the radiator like did a mouse die behind the radiator. I started pulling out food.
>> Oh no.
>> Well, the good thing though because to get into my seat and I had that corner seat downstairs >> where I sit.
>> Yeah. So, so I would have I would have the um the heating pole that went to the second floor to my right and the radiator to my left. So, if I move the wrong way in the winter time, I was >> Oh, sure.
>> I was getting marked for it.
>> So, yes.
Uh Gustavo, doing a lot of home cooking now, especially after my son was born.
Two years now.
>> A congratulations.
>> Yes. Uh, Pug buddy Kachu. Uh, then again, I ate a Coney Islander hot dog for dinner, but I eat a little bit of awfulness at times. I truly hate veggies. So, it's hard to lose weight on meat and potatoes.
>> Yeah.
>> Um, like that.
>> You know, there are some veggies that I am not crazy about. I never like Brussels sprouts. I learned how to bake them.
>> Yeah. There there are certain there's a lot that goes uh with prep that makes them more palatable, >> you know, and cauliflower rice.
Cauliflower. I can make a a decent faux fried fried rice. Uh Jay Tyler. Yes, sir. Since my heart problems years ago, I've really had to limit sodium and had to research options and food and spices.
Read the labels all times. It helps.
Yes.
Uh, Blabino Blinoa has been a member now for three months.
Master Dominion, just got done running my game. My game. Oh, hold on. Just got done running my game. Hope you have a great night. Can't wait for the recap tomorrow. So, yes, tomorrow's going to be uh announcements of uh that will impact this channel. They're good announcements. Going to do a recap of the open table. I'll uh tell you how the open table's going to be in the future.
I've got plans for the open table after we get all the uh the kinks worked out.
There weren't as many kinks as I thought other than scheduling. Um which we'll figure out. But uh Mike uh Mike C Baker probably should send the tavern my three meat chili recipe one of these days.
>> You can find me on Discord. I I love chili. I haven't made chili in a couple of years. I used to make when Rich was working, chili was like the go.
>> You made turkey chili for me.
>> It was the It was like, "Oh, wait. I could just heat up for lunch."
>> Nope.
>> You know, it was it was the go-to. Um, but yeah, I fall I've fallen behind. I got to break out my my Insta Pot again, >> I guess, in the fall time.
>> Oh, I'll make the Insta Pot won't heat things up too much. So, I could I could even do that in the summertime.
>> Yeah. That's the reason why we we we don't we use our full size stove only for the burners on top for like when I'm making breakfast or I'm heating something up on on the stove. But if we're baking, we use our uh little ninja oven. It doesn't heat the rest of the house up. It's easier to clean. It's just easy peasy. Uh Steven Fowler, uh living in Austria, I learned that soups can be a whole meal. And >> yeah, >> I make some good ones now.
>> Love soups.
>> I like I like a book called 12 months of monastery soups.
>> Out.
>> Yes. Excuse me for the clearing of the throat. That's why I muted it.
So yeah. So the soups what what the Europeans call a soup, most Americans would say that's more like a stew. M >> and if you and then if you eat a European stew, people are like that's more like, you know, meat and vegetables with gravy because it just, you know, we water things down a lot in re and in in comparison to uh the Europeans.
[snorts] Um Fugi, I have three full ovens and I usually use just one.
Yeah, we we we mostly use our fulls size oven to store all the cooking uh pots and pans that that we use elsewhere. Um off to grandma, I used a Brazilian chicken recipe to also create a soup base.
>> Brazilian chicken.
>> I I I knew that was going to get a reaction from Ra. It was like um wow, we got about almost like 30 people in right now. Just just a reminder folks at the end of this at 9:00 >> PO chicken.
>> Oo at 9:00 I am going to jump on to DM Angelo's uh channel. So um I should let me see if I can I know it's in the tavern updates.
Let me uh copy message link. There we go. Let me put that into the chat. So, I'm going to pop into Angelo's uh live stream. He kicks his It's like an aftershow.
Oh, that doesn't help any. That literally is the Discord link. So, let's see if I can copy and paste it.
I think I can. I think I can.
Um, on the Discord, by the way, we do have a channel for uh for foodie fun.
So, if you do have recipes that you want to uh um I'm I'm assuming what uh yeah, okay, that link should work.
Um, so that will be uh just a again I will take like a 30 or 60 second break in between the two live streams because I'm an old man and I you know got to I'm I've got this whole Stanley cup of of iced tea that I um hopefully not finishing but >> water cheers.
>> Water cheers.
Um, Mike, uh, my recipe can be adjusted for sodium, meat preferences, etc. I'll drop it in Discord later this coming week.
>> Oh, beautiful.
>> My mother's funeral is on Tuesday. Our sympathies.
>> So, sorry.
>> You know, that's uh >> that was a rough milestone for me, too.
>> Yeah.
>> You know, it's uh not not not fun. And when we've experienced, you know, losses of people very close to us, this has been last 12 months have been a real uh um harder than they should be in a lot of ways.
>> Flint, the tavern should take recipe submissions and make a cookbook and offer it to minions. I listen.
>> Hey, thanks.
>> That's actually not a bad idea.
>> Um now, I will warn people that uh >> you know what? Maybe maybe what we could do uh since we're all brainstorming >> um send us your recipes. We make it.
Show it.
>> Oh.
>> Um >> Oh, yeah.
>> We make it, we show it, you know. And how did we do? [laughter] Make [clears throat] sure we did it right. um you know and then um like put together something >> for that or like >> yeah have it be I don't know where it could live somewhere in the Discord.
>> Well, we could >> or maybe on here on Gamer Health. We could have all the individual recipes on Discord, but then we could put the booklet together and then share it through all the minions with uh whatchamacallit Dropbox.
>> Oh, great. Yeah.
>> Awesome.
>> Uh uh Squirrel, Lord of Gaming, don't worry about the food. Listen, we do tangents on this, okay? I mean, that's the whole point. This should feel like you're hanging out at your local pub. In the past, Ra and I would have been hanging out at a local pub.
>> Yeah.
>> Um, it is no longer a local pub. It's now a Nepalese restaurant.
>> But our local, I think, is probably our Chinese spouse.
>> Yeah, I think >> because they all know our names or my name.
>> No, they they Yeah, apparently you never say my name at the table, but they know.
Oh, Rachel. Ra.
>> Yeah, >> they called you Ra. They were calling you Ra for the initially.
>> The one waitress. Yes, the one with Rachel. So, say Rachie, [laughter] but the host is always Rachel because I I give them my name when I make reservations for like your mother's stuff, >> right? So, we're we're going to be taking uh the parents out >> on Mother's Day for Hibachi, which my mother loves. My >> my father he wanted my my father's >> sometimes order from the menu, but not lately. Not since he got turned on to the to the fillet minan.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. When I pointed out, you know, pop the fillet minion is only like $2 more than a steak.
>> He's like, "What?" And it is night and day. So, I was like, "Okay."
>> I don't really eat it.
>> You sampled it from my >> sample it from his plate. I'll have one piece >> and it ends up being really good, but you know, [sighs] >> chicken and shrimps is where it's at.
Uh, squirrel lord of the gaming. My lizard folk character who wanted to be a professional chef was an extremely talented ranger. He specialized in making dinner out of just about everything, but he made it delicious.
Our parties never went hungry.
>> Uh, Dian Angelo, I'm addicted to the air fryer. Well, our uh Ninja Oven can double as an air fryer.
>> Actually, can triple as a dehydrator, but you don't really get to dehydrate all that much. And I bought a dehydrator, used it once and went, man, it's a lot of work to get some dehydrated >> uh fruits.
>> It's a long time, and it's it's a big thing. And >> yeah, it's it's it's >> taking it out, storing it again.
>> Yeah, I got to find out.
>> Yeah, we made a bunch of stuff. We made like um >> a couple used a couple of times and that was >> Yeah, we we did strawberries cuz we found a really good sale. Yeah, >> we dehydrated um pineapple and that was really good until I hurt myself with the pineapple and burnt my mouth.
>> She had too many [laughter] pineapples cuz when you when you dehydrate pineapple, you kind of condense all that stuff.
>> Yeah.
>> So, um Yeah. So, I have a dehydrator that just takes up space on top of the fridge, right? Yeah. It's on top of the fridge.
>> Yeah.
>> I wasn't sure if it was up there or downstairs.
>> No, no, no, no. So my father would not let it live on his workbench.
He's like, "What the hell is this? What the hell is this thing on my workbench?"
>> Yeah. So no.
And [snorts] and I have we have like for the longest time Oh my god. It wasn't It wasn't the Foreman oven. What was the uh >> Tfile?
>> Toul oven.
>> It was like a grilling >> grilling thing. We had a lot of fun with that.
>> Boil it on both sides. But when my son when my son moved out, he he he needed it. Needed to make mistakes.
>> We still have a two follow.
>> I know. We got We replaced it, but we never >> we never used it again.
>> Yeah.
>> Oh, and the pizza pizzazz. He loved that pizza pizzazz. My sister got it.
>> Oh, yeah.
>> Yeah. Most of these things like I like the Ninja oven because it flips up. Mhm.
>> So if you if you nearly need >> so that you have a surface like our kitchen doesn't have a lot of surface area on the you know for countertops.
>> Um so >> I mean here I'm going to premium this house was built in 1905. Now >> I'm going to adjust the camera here. You see uh that Dutch shelf.
Um, yes. I have uh hold on, I gotta I have beerstein on that Dutch display shelf. It's made to display plates, but I mean it's this house was built in 1905.
They they didn't think you needed all that much counter space. I mean, nobody would you were making very basic meals, I guess.
>> I mean, we've updated it since then. And >> but you can't make counter space where there's no right >> no space to make, >> right? Cuz it's just one side.
>> Yes.
>> One side of the kitchen like that has the kitcheny stuff on it. The one the one wall has the fridge, the sink, the oven.
>> Yep.
[gasps] Uh you can make your grandma, you can make infants using a dehydrator as well.
>> Really?
>> You know, you're >> Yeah. You can't >> I need to learn about this cuz I'm not incense.
>> So, of course, my wife married the man with a sensitive nose, but yes, >> but you bought me >> I know. I know. I That's okay. I'm I'm I'm I'm joking.
Um, you dye wood shavings, then dry them, then powder them, then dry them again.
And you can also powder terrain foliage for crafting. Oh, okay.
Interesting. Interesting.
>> See folks, you get you get knowledge that you would not get anywhere else on the internet. At least and no, nowhere else in the RPG uh D&D tubers sphere. Uh Don, I got a scoot. Time to get the chicken sandwiches on. God bless.
>> Enjoy.
>> Dan, welcome. Dan the final ber. You're not late. Party doesn't start until you show up, sir. So, uh yeah, we had uh uh again, the next the next open table will probably be in about two weeks. I had initially thought I could do it on a weekly basis, but I'm going to have to prep between that and I got the other things that this channel does. So, I think at least initially every other week is going to be fine. And then I'm going to Scott Moulder, welcome. Then uh going to have uh two weeks where I'm going to North Texas. I'll be gone Wednesday through Monday.
Come back on Monday. And then I got doctor's appointments in those few days in between. And then Tuesday, Wednesday, th are we leaving Thursday or Friday? I don't even remember anymore.
I got to try. I'll have to I'll have to reach out to Roger.
>> I don't know >> because I think it's three full days now.
>> Yeah. Then I'm going.
>> Yes. [laughter] >> The doggy.
>> Seeing why I'm going. My doggies.
Welcome. Uh so >> you know there >> Yeah. So it's going to be uh it's going to be a fun time. But again, it's just a there's a lot of moving parts and after the cons are done. Um, I am I am figuring that by the end of the summer the open table should be down to uh at the very least uh a very greased uh squeaky wheel and then maybe we'll add some other uh gains to the uh schedule from DMs other than myself. Uh Jimson, I am apartment hunting in Utah and a kitchen is a big factor for sure.
>> Sure.
>> I like some room to work. Yeah. I mean, honestly, uh, the way this kitchen was before we got married, when I was just living here by myself, um, there was like this, it was built without any counter space. The only counter space that you had was this 1930s metal hutch that, you know, the you had no counter space by the sink cuz you had a double sink. You had a a deep sink and then you had the sink that you could uh chop up the body.
>> You had a hybrid dumpster.
>> Yeah.
>> Out front to put all of that stuff in.
Yeah. To get it out, >> you know. So, it was uh ancient stuff. And heck, even when they uh changed the uh windows to the uh the insulated windows that we currently have back uh the the the lead weights that were initially part of the whole uh balancing system, if those weights went, you would hear that dropped to the next floor. And I heard that happen twice in my lifetime. And it was like, oh my god, >> you're crashing through wooden plaster.
Um, uh, Squirrel Lord of Gaming. I wonder what kind of good ideas for including characters sitting down and eating a meal, uh, for the game could be. I wonder how that could become a plot hook.
Interesting.
Um, grandma said she needs to prep tonight for the tomorrow's game. Uh Dan, my wife's cousin and his wife are visiting and they keep insisting on standing in the kitchen entryway to stand and have conversations and it's driving me nuts.
I can relate to that and understand completely. But they're good people so that All right.
>> A you know you know sometimes good people are just a little less clued in because they're good people. You know, it's sometimes sometimes you got to be a little bit of an [ __ ] to get be clued in because you know what to look for in other people and you go, "Oh, wait.
I [laughter] I am that person. I I I observed it." Uh kitchen table is oldtime counter space.
Fugu, that's how I grew up.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah. Yeah. No, you're right. That's that's kind of You didn't set the table until uh dinner was already made. That's why when my parents renovated the kitchen downstairs, the first thing they did was put in like the granite tabletop granite >> counter >> countertops.
>> Yeah.
>> That was my mother's like one uh concession. She's like, "No, I need I I I need >> I need stone, you know. We we went with laminate because we were newly married and money was money, you know."
>> Yeah.
>> And uh it's held up.
It's It is fine.
>> We can change it whenever we're ready.
>> Yeah. [laughter] I don't think we're going to be changing it anytime soon.
Not unless I not unless I take like, you know, a saw to the to the countertop by mistake.
And Rachel is going to say, "Thank God I married Eric and not his father because Ziggy probably needs the uh stone countertops to make sure he doesn't saw through one.
He saw through the uh kitchen table. You can I'll show you a spot one day.
>> The downstairs kitchen table.
>> He made the table by the way. He made the table.
>> I remember that.
>> He also saw through it partially.
>> Oops.
>> Yeah. You know, uh foodie plot hook back on the mid and late 80s was the how to host a murder series. It included recipes, PC gens with clues and information. Play two rounds, eat a meal, play two rounds.
>> Uh, oh, play between courses.
>> Yes. Uh, Eman, when we had company, they always sat in the kitchen, made coffee, and talked or played cards. So, historically, the room >> Yeah. I feel like the women would be in the kitchen. Like, my mother's friends would come and they'd be in the kitchen.
>> Yeah. So, historically, this room, maybe you can judge from like the hutch behind us that's built into this was actually the dining room. Um, but we had uh our son living here. Um, so this became his bedroom. We closed that door off and sealed that wall off. Um, my old bedroom uh became our living room. the front two rooms became like an extended bedroom and computer room to computer room and and long-term became our storage room which is going to be cleaned out. We're working on it now. Rick's been doing a good job. I'm sure I'll come back from Texas and go >> Oh, yeah.
>> Where'd all my stuff go?
>> I got plans.
>> Yeah. [laughter] And I I I figured that.
But uh >> I got some plans. I I'll shop. I'll clean stuff out. And then I have my um my lessons and then yeah my things.
>> Uh Iosio, I am running a 5v game and one of my players said the battle was unbalanced and she was taking too much damage and couldn't tank the way she wanted. I hate 5v players. I want to play BX. I understand that. But you have to remember too that a lot of they're referring to tanking, right? Listen, I I played oh my god, Meridian 59. I played the realm. I tried playing Ultima Online, but got killed so quickly. So, uh, EverQuest, the first one, was the first one that I actually could get into. And it's the first time I heard about tanks and DPS. We never used those terms in tabletop RPGs before that.
Yeah, we used healer because that was usually the cleric's uh designated role, but just saying. Uh uh Aean uh it came in late. Did you mention how the LLC is going? So the LLC is formed. We have our commercial checking account. Uh YouTube is uh the the the snag right now. And I should say YouTube AdSense.
So, cuz we got to switch my personal account of AdSense over to the account that's under the LLC and in theory I am a YouTube partner. So, I was able to reach out to customer service and talk to a live person via chat and tell them what's going on. So, at least they know coming from my original account what's going on. But it takes as long as it takes.
>> That was just done Thursday or Friday. No, that was done.
Uh >> oh.
>> Tuesday. That was Tuesday. We're still waiting from Tuesday on that one.
>> But the LL what was really fun was getting the commercial bank account because the first bank that we wanted to go through uh RA >> broke their uh >> she she Yeah, she uh you know, for those that don't know, Ra is albino and I think that it it was just too much white. It's like this can't be true. And then the the face scan, >> she's trying to process it. It's like uh >> the face scan wouldn't work. And then customer service, this that was a week and a half ago, >> more probably >> maybe two weeks. Two weeks ago. Two weeks ago.
>> And then we dealt with customer service.
And then that customer service thing RA gets an email every couple days. We're still working on it.
>> Yeah, >> that's okay.
>> It's been quiet since probably Thursday or Friday.
Uh, I coal. Yeah, it's a video game mentality where they just want to play with all their superpowers and not be presented a challenge. It's annoying.
>> Well, honestly, like listen, when it comes to MMOs, I preferred EverQuest one to EverQuest 2. And why? Because EverQuest one had in the beginning, there were consequences. You didn't you you dying was scary because you had to do a corpse run to get your crap back.
So once it was just, oh, you just respawn and you come back. It was not the same. It didn't have that same um anxiety attached and and yes, anxiety can be a bit of a rush, but you had that I got to run. I got to I got to get away. I got to get away as opposed to ah no big deal. I just lost five minutes and not the same. Scott, I got my reprints for BX from drive-thru. Can't bring myself to buy vintage. I got the 5-year-olds a few years ago and pretty much >> is the vintage crazy expensive.
>> Um, they can be.
>> Yeah. Same concept with a perfume community. Like if they have discontinued a perfume like uh people will hoard it and they will um charge exorbitant um prices for it and it's always a gamble because you don't know how they've been storing it, if the going to be any good.
>> Yeah. like people this stuff like you don't know if it's going to have like >> smoke. Now now this I got a chart kind of uh couple years ago and uh it actually came with the uh the original dice, not the original dice. It it came with the original dice from the time Tom Tom Wilson put together uh an orphaned a bunch of orphan sets into a final set for the auction. And I was like, that's a perfect chance for me to uh get the uh companion rules. And I did. Not companion rules, expert rules.
Um I'm thinking companion. I think that was that same color blue for BeckMe for the companion. Uh agile. I played both EQ and WoW with my son. I played a little WoW. Never really got into it.
>> Oh, okay.
>> World of Warcraft, but uh um played a lot of uh Oh, god. But, uh, Anarchy Online, uh, >> I could you could solo that. So, when I was out sick for 11 months, um, I would spend hours a day playing Anarchy Online because you could solo it and it was a mindless way to pass the time when you were out sick from cancer.
Um, Dana, it's really uh, interesting playing OSR games uh, now and thinking back to how we played them back in the day. We did so very much wrong. Yes, we we certainly did. And even when we kind of knew the right way, it was like ah because you were kids, but yes, it was still awesome.
Uh AF Afy is Afy. Are there any modules for BX that have dying Earth settings?
specifically. So far in the future, all tech seems like magic.
Uh for BX, nothing I can think of offhand.
Um there are some uh adventures for one that kind of lean into that, but I I I don't know. I I was never much into uh mixing. My players always wanted to find a laser gun or or a a six shooter like what uh what was the character in one of those I don't know issue 70 71 around there of uh dragon the not the quasi deities or whatever it was was it furund or something like that I I forget there was there was one paladin that had a stick shooter Um yeah, the dying earth stuff from uh dcc you could do you can always convert down. So from d I used to run dcc stuff with swords and wizardry and just convert on the fly. It's uh not that hard at all. All right, we are at 856.
So we should probably wind this down.
Um, I am going to drop into the chat again.
Um, I'll be popping into DMA Angelo's uh live stream for a little bit. So, it's kind of like an after, as Ra put it.
She's the professional uh uh barfly. I I I I I came into it after I I came into barflying when I retired and it was like, "Oh, I get to go down for lunch and have like, you know, and get brought back every other round."
>> Yeah. No, that was >> Merlin.
Thank you, Mike. Yeah. So, yeah. you know, you know that my my or or when I was when you were going out, like when I was like a rookie cop, me and my partner would hit the bar and it we were the only ones in the bar at 220, 225 driving from the Bronx to >> You just weren't going to the right bar.
[laughter] >> It was an Irish bar and the the Killians was buy one get one cuz he liked us. got to the point where he knew we came every Tuesday night, so he would have uh two bags of uh the 99 cent party mix waiting for us.
>> A >> dad, why the [ __ ] did you go out and buy that chait? I already bought the chait for you. It's like cuz we always tipped.
Well, um uh Agile, uh to all the tavern community, I want to wish you much love and happiness and peace. You are Yes, >> folks. We do what we do because >> I I believe in community, >> you know, it really is the blessing of of this whole game. It's something that brings us together, and I really don't want us to forget that. So, um, and a lot of what a lot of what I do, whether it's here or on Discord or whatever, is community building. Um, all right, folks. Uh, quick things. I'm going to be going to Angelo's channel in literally minutes. A link in in the description and or on screen. And tomorrow 8:00 p.m.
uh we have having a membersonly chat.
So, anybody can watch live. Only members can send me a chat. I'm going to update the uh open table. I'm going to update what's going on with uh the minions. I'm going to update what's going on with the channel and any other updates. It's going to be a lot of updates and uh I plan on being on for about an hour, but we shall see if you guys have enough questions. Keep me going. Um I may have to do a Joe Lawyer and just uh walk away from the screen for two minutes and and and and we and come back. But we'll we'll deal with that tomorrow, but I'll see you all in a few minutes on DMA Angela's channel. Um huge thanks to Agile. Huge huge thanks to Guar Trumpet. You are all amazing gentlemen.
Uh we can't thank you enough. Um see you all on a couple of minutes.
