And we're going to react to Cameron's viral clip where he said, "Honey, I am not African. I am FBA all the way." That wasn't his exact words, but he's saying I'm not African, I'm American.

You trying to force [ __ ] to be from down south. I'm not down south bro neither is my family. You can't force us to be from down south. We're from Africa.

[00:04:15]Why in the Olympics they don't say African American when you're fighting in the Olympics?

You you you know I think there's a huge difference between the two and first of all um our origins are from this land. I mean don't get it wrong. Uh this is our land and we not going to get into all that. But as a black man in this country you we do recognize where our ancestors come from but if you look at it that's everybody's ancestors come from Africa.

[00:05:12]This African American thing was be created by uh uh um What's what's the what's the what's the guy who passed with Jesse Jackson?

[00:05:21]>> In 89 or something like somewhere around there 87 89. And he just tried to connect us to our ancestors but what he's doing what he was doing was actually separating us from the land that we've already that we've that we've been on. And so this is our country. We need to represent our country as as as Look we are different than Africans.

[00:05:43]Uh my mom is Nigerian.

[00:05:45]I've been to Africa many times. Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya. I've been in several of these you know places.

[00:05:56]We're totally different than them. We have different culture, different upbringing.

[00:06:02]We we we're totally different than them.

[00:06:04]So, why is it when they >> [clears throat] >> Jamaica is Jamaicans, Haitians is Haitians, you know, when when we have these other countries that Those are black people there, too.

[00:06:21]>> they say African Brazilians? I want They don't say any of these things because it's it's incorrect. We're Americans.

[00:06:29]This is where we've been, this is where we're from, and this is where we need to represent. And I I I think there's too much trying to separate ourselves. That's why I don't get mad if some white dude be like, "Go to your Go back to your country." I'm in it.

[00:06:43]>> Like, what you mean? Like, it doesn't bother me. It's like, >> to my community? Oh, okay."

[00:06:52]Yeah, and I will say this, like, he I mean, Cam I I I I love his podcast that him and Meeks have, It Is What It Is, the sports podcast, and I've always been a fan of Cam'ron music before even Dipset and Dipset. But anyway, he when he talks, he kind of put stuff in logic. It's very logical perspective, right? Simple. And it's like, "No, I'm not African." When Americans, no matter what color you are, and I'm really talking about white and black Americans, right? When we leave this country, it don't matter where we go. I went to Cuba, I went to Mexico. They know you're American. They don't care about you being black. I mean, they care, but they don't care. They know you're American.

[00:07:33]You're a Yankee. And then he mentioned the South. It's been plenty times I've been to the South, and my cousin be like, "Oh, you a Yankee." And I couldn't stand that. But they even see us as Yankees if we, you know >> me, I'm from California. They They think we're just total valley white people over here.

[00:07:49]>> Yeah, yeah, valley white people. So, and and there's a difference between the South and and the North.

[00:07:57]Um and a lot of black people there were a lot of prominent black people already in the North that did not migrate from the South, but the majority did and that's fine. However, when we're talking about our lineage or attachment to Africa, that is a big stretch because less than 5% of the enslaved Africans came straight here. They was really dropped off in the Caribbean.

[00:08:18]And what makes us different from any other place, whether it's Brazil, the Caribbean, or what have you, we had to endure chattel slavery. So, it was a lot of forcing black women to get pregnant and to breed out enslaved babies, right?

[00:08:34]I.e., 14th Amendment.

[00:08:36]But anyway, no, we are not African. I have my lineage is Native American. I could trace it back to the indigenous people here.

[00:08:44]Scotland, a a big strong port portion of European on my father's father's side.

[00:08:51]Um I don't know Africa. I didn't do that lineage back there, but on my father's mother's side, the slave plantation. On my mother's father's side, slave plantation. My mother's mother's side, Native and white and father father's side Scotland.

[00:09:12]So, it's a mixture of everything else before I even get to Africa. So, he's right. And he's like, "My mother from Atlantic City. Get out of here with that African shit."

[00:09:21]>> I think people think it's an insult when it's not an insult. We're really just claiming what is actually ours, which is America. And this is our country. This is This is we was here before Columbus. So, >> Yeah.

[00:09:33]>> I mean, we got a whole That's a whole That's whole real knowledge of that. So, if you was a historian, you would understand that what he's saying is is actually 100% correct.

[00:09:43]>> Um we had the Moors. The Moors was over here. The Moors roamed the the entire globe.

[00:09:50]>> What we see as Europe today, the Moors civilized >> so so, you know, at the end of the day >> And they they ruled for over a thousand years. For a thousand years they ruled.

[00:09:59]Longer than the United States been in existence.

[00:10:02]>> Of course. And the thing is too is that if you look at a lot of these brothers, they just be searching for an identity.

[00:10:08]You know, they want to be they want to have some type of culture.

[00:10:12]But I would argue even Africa right now is so colonized that I don't see their culture that was Africa back when I knew when I used to visit back in the day, it is totally changed now and it is so Americanized. And if it's Americanized, that means what? That means we're influencing them.

[00:10:32]>> And that if you go over there, they're they're over there with fitted hats like us.

[00:10:36]They They're over there, they dress like us, they speak like us, they got the slang like us. But then when we get over there in their countries and we try to do business, they don't want to do business with us. You know what I mean?

[00:10:47]>> And shout out to Akon. I know he's trying to change that narrative. But if >> Akon ended up kind of scamming. He's in the He's in debt. He's back over >> Well, I don't know too much about that part. I just know that he tried to >> here in America where he was born.

[00:10:59]>> right. [laughter] Yeah. Well, you know, Lauryn Hill, you know, bless her heart, probably greatest album of all time. But, you know, she's always, you know, this woke we need to Booker T. Washington move, you know what I mean? Like I'm I'm more on the line of understanding that this is my country.

[00:11:24]And I'm I'm I'm still searching for a mill. You know what I mean? I'm trying to get it.

[00:11:32]Black Americans, um we fought in every single war since the inception of America, the 13 colonies.

[00:11:41]>> And was good at it.

[00:11:42]>> And even through Plessy versus Ferguson, Brown versus Board, civil rights, or what have you, mass incarceration, crack era, we maintained to survive. Now, there's some work to do, but the fact is that everything that this country has thrown at us, we've overcome it and able to survive it, and now we need to start thriving. So, I say this, the con- it's a continent. Africa is a continent with 54 countries. There are people in South Africa that's telling Nigerians get the F up out our country. So, people need to get off this skin color and look at it to where there are different countries in Africa that don't mess with one another, you know? They have um mass migration issues, influx going on throughout different countries in Africa. So, different political systems, military, so forth. It is heavily colonized even today. We could go back to the 18 um 75 or 95 Berlin Conference um that took place that actually carved up Africa. Africans need to deal with their own issues.

[00:12:51]>> So, you're right, they don't really want to do business with us. They come to America, suck up the resources, and then we patriate we patriate that money back home to their countries. Even Caribbeans do that, too. So, again, we're left on our own, and that's how it's always been. So, yes, we are not Africans. We are Black Americans.

[00:13:13]>> Not at all. And I know he can deliver it in a way that people are more uh you know, they you know, they view how Cameron speaks as >> It's not insulting or disrespectful, but it's getting a point across, basically.

[00:13:29]>> it. And I like it and I'm glad he said it cuz I would have said it. And uh You know, I don't know what this other guy is, you know.

[00:13:36]>> But, you have to admit, you are you're half tethered a little bit.

[00:13:40]>> I don't know what a half tether is. I don't >> You're half You're half >> My mom I'm going to tell you right now uh the way she moves in this country >> don't deal with Nigeria.

[00:13:50]>> She doesn't even deal with anything that has to do with Nigeria. And she's only going to visit her family.

[00:13:54]>> I'm just saying that cuz you're going to get half the reparations check cuz you're half of the BIA.
