Hantavirus is a respiratory disease transmitted through aerosols, with an incubation period of up to 6 weeks, requiring strict quarantine protocols and rapid testing to break transmission chains; France's emergency response protocol for hantavirus is the strictest in the European Union, involving immediate hospitalization, PCR testing, and isolation of high-risk contacts to prevent further spread.

Hantavirus France active son protocole d'urgence après un cas suspectAdded:
Hantavirus, one of the five French citizens repatriated to France, is showing symptoms.
The plane carrying the five French passengers evacuated from the MV Hondius landed at Le Bourget Airport.
They are to be transported to Bichat Hospital in Paris, where they will be quarantined for 72 hours for a full evaluation.
A plane carrying several people evacuated from the MV Hondius cruise ship landed Sunday evening in the Netherlands, an Agence France-Presse journalist observed.
The plane, which originated on the island of Tenerife in the Spanish Canary Islands, was carrying 26 passengers and crew members, including eight Dutch nationals, according to the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Following symptoms in one of the repatriated French cruise passengers, Health Minister Stephanie Rist is seeking to break the chains of hantavirus transmission.
The Minister of Health confirmed that one of the five French citizens repatriated from the MV Hondius presented symptoms that could potentially resemble those of hantavirus.
He has been tested, and the results of his PCR test will be available within 24 hours.
These five French citizens, who are considered high-risk close contacts, will remain hospitalized for the first few days before being isolated at home, depending on their condition.
The Minister also announced that the eight French citizens who were on the same flight as a cruise passenger who died after contracting hantavirus have been identified, tested, and isolated.
"It is crucial to break the chains of transmission from the outset," she emphasized, stating that the French protocol concerning hantavirus, which can be transmitted via aerosols and whose incubation period can last up to 6 weeks, is the strictest in the European Union.
Mrs. Rist emphasized that this is a virus that is known, that scientists are familiar with.
When finally asked about the lessons learned from the COVID-19 crisis in the event of a future pandemic, she assured that France had the necessary stockpile of masks and PCR tests.
