When luxury brands collaborate with accessible brands to create entry-level products, it creates a paradox where increased accessibility can paradoxically increase demand and resale value, as demonstrated by the Audemars Piguet x Swatch 'Royal Pop' collaboration where secondary market listings reached over $3,500 before the product's official reveal, despite the collaboration's goal of making luxury watches more accessible to consumers.

PRICES ARE RISING.. Resellers Are Risking It All & Collectors Are FuriousAjouté :
So, we got everybody out here losing their minds, resellers, when they heard about this announcement. Look, they stopped everything they were doing. They went outside and immediately began to camp out. And what's even crazier, nobody even knows what the product even looks like. The price hasn't been announced. We really don't even know what this actually is. And we already got listings of over a thousand dollars plus. And it all stems from this post by Lil Yachty, which they have announced their official AP collaboration. Yep.
That AP, your favorite rapper, favorite athlete, watch kind of sewer collector's favorite timepiece, specifically the Royal Oak, which seems to be the silhouette of choice, you know, for your AP buyer, which can run you on the low end, from what I've seen, like 30, 50K upwards to like 300K.
You guys know how these watches can get super expensive. And when you get rich, >> [music] >> like you got to just spend your money on dumb stuff like that to prove, you know, that you got money.
Yeah, man.
I need Come here. Come here.
Come here, man.
That's you, man. You're dead.
Good drill.
But now, let me stop hating cuz if I was out here buying an AP, right, I'm not the consumer. Like, if I was to buy a low-end piece, right, that'd [snorts] probably be like half my net worth. So, I'm definitely not in the market. I don't even wear watches anyways, but this story is fascinating because I understand what they're doing right here. I get the appeal, right? I feel like AP, what they're trying to do is, you know, essentially sell you the dream, right? Even for the guy, the hardworking dude that can't afford his own AP, he can get a little taste of that luxury lifestyle, which that's cool and everything. Plus, as a collector's piece, you guys already know the resale prices are going to run up on the secondary market. So, it's pretty much a win-win for our sides, right? But, doesn't seem like everybody's too happy.
There is some pushback when this announcement was made. Of course, you got people like DDG, popular streamer, talking about the fact that everybody's going to be able to have a AP, you know, the fact that these are going to be more accessible or whatever, loses the appeal for the watch, and he's going to go ahead and sell his piece, right? Just because it doesn't make you that exclusive, right? Y'all seen this [ __ ] 300 bucks, [ __ ] Like, just seeing this make me want to sell my AP. AP, what's up, man? What's going on?
I done spent 200,000 on one of y'all watches.
You telling me I could have waited till 2026 and spent 300 and got the same effect? The hoes can't tell the difference.
They don't know what the [ __ ] if if if this a skeleton. I tell a girl, "Hey, this black ceramic AP limited edition.
300,000."
You feel me?
Come on, bro. Kind of wild because it almost sounds like the sneaker game in a sense. But, let's not forget, right? AP's not going to be just like dropping these joints online. It's going to be in store only. They're still going to be exclusive. And like I alluded to earlier, right? The fact that these are going to be collectible pieces, the resale prices are going to be out of this world, and when these officially drop, if they're what everybody thinks they're going to be, right? These joints might run you the cost of a AP itself anyways, right? So, [snorts] as far as this story then continues on, as remember I mentioned, nobody even knows what this joint actually looks like. Some concept photos have surfaced, some renders, what people potentially think these joints could look like. But, [music] you also do have more collectors chiming in talking about the Swatch AP collab is clearly a pocket watch. You know, showing some different clues, you know, alluding to the actual official post from Swatch, which the first image that they show you right here is clearly a lanyard. So, again, nobody actually knows what this official collab could look like. He said the term royal pop, which is the name of the collab, which is pretty much the only thing that we know, you know, based off the original promo.
He said the Royal Oak is a play on pop art or pop culture or popping a watch out of your pocket, >> [music] >> which also starts the PO. So, who knows, man? Some debate. Could it be a pocket watch? Could it be a traditional wrist watch?
Who knows? Only time will tell, which Ben Baller, of course, you know, he had to throw his two cents in, right?
Talking about this collab drop is going to be going down Saturday. Every single image you've seen online is fake AI renders. The employees of Swatch don't even know what colors are dropping or what the watch looks like. We all find out Wednesday when Swatch drops the preview. So, all eyes are going to be locked in for Wednesday to see what the product actually looks like, but even if nobody even knows what this product is, based off previous Swatch collaborations, based off just how collectible, you know, and how valued, coveted the AP name is in the in the watch world, resellers, they ain't playing no games as it looks like. Locations for the official drop have already been provided online right here. You guys see people are already going nuts for these, which it has been confirmed, these won't be dropping online, right? So, the camp outs have officially began, right? It looks like it's early, you know, as the announcement was made, people are already camping out as you clearly see images. And remember, these joints ain't even dropping till Saturday, bro. I don't know how these resellers do it, bro. Look, it doesn't stop right here.
>> [music] >> The clips continue on.
Look, of course they got to have the goods out there, right? Camped out in front of the Swatch shop, right?
Do you guys feel like everybody's going to be cordial and it's going to go over smooth? As you see, a lot of these chairs left empty, like people got to go out and live life and come back, right?
Y'all feel like the lineups are going to be a smooth process come Saturday? I don't know, man, cuz based off a lot of recent sneaker lineups, things can tend to get a little hectic. Remember, we're days out from Saturday's official drop.
I could definitely seeing this one is going down as a one of the most nastiest campouts, you know, in recent history. And we're not even talking about a pair of sneakers right here.
We're talking about a potential Swatch AP collaboration. And as you guys see right here, Sole Retriever, they're already reporting that ahead of the time, the Swatch AP collab is already selling for over a thousand, 3,500 bucks on eBay.
The product and pricing haven't even been revealed. So, you guys see it right here. Nobody knows what this joint's going to look like, what the product is, retail price hasn't even been announced.
And we already got a $3,500 listing, man. So, only time [laughter] will tell, literally. I can't wait to see the madness, you know, that stems from all of this, right? While I would hate to see, you know, anything crazy go down like that, it's still interesting. It's still fascinating. It's like a case study, you know, of like what people will do, right? So, AP Swatch collaboration, man, drop your predictions down below. What do you guys think this will even be, you know, as far as the actual design?
What do y'all think about the retail price tag? And are you interested in this product, you know, whether you're a AP consumer, you know, if you already got locked in at the AP store, or if you're somebody who's just [music] looking to, you know, get a little taste of the luxury lifestyle? Drop your feedback down below, man. This is a wild situation, right? I definitely didn't have this one on the bingo card this year.
>> [music] >> AP Swatch collab on the way.
We get the official reveal, I guess, the preview tomorrow.
And then Saturday is going to be a movie, man. Comment down below if you guys want more updates on this situation. If you enjoyed this one, hit [music] that like for me on the way out.
J A TV, I'll catch you guys next time.
Stay safe, stay blessed. I'm out. Love.
