ASMR~ Testing You For The Hantavirus 🤧Added:
Hi there.
Are you here for an appointment?
Okay, great. Can I get your name?
And your date of birth, please?
And a good phone number?
And then what insurance do you use? I don't see it in our system, so I just need your insurance.
Okay.
All right. And what are you here for today?
You think you have the hantavirus?
Were you on the cruise ship with the other people who had symptoms?
Okay.
Well, I appreciate you coming in.
Um If you don't mind me asking, I'm just going to have to ask you about some symptoms of the hantavirus, and you're just going to answer with yes or no if you have experienced or felt any of these symptoms in the last 1 to 3 days.
So, first is fatigue or a high fever?
No.
Okay. How about any muscle aches in the thighs, hips, or back?
A little bit in your back. Okay.
How about any headaches, dizziness, or chills?
Chills?
And headaches?
You have a migraine condition. That could be why. It might not even be because of the virus.
Any nausea, vomiting, or abdominal pain at all?
Little bit of nausea. Okay.
And in some rare cases of the hantavirus, patients may experience blurred vision, eye redness, or rash.
So, your nurse will look at your eyes really good and look for any rashes, but have you noticed any of that?
Okay.
And then I'm just going to run through the 4 to 10-day symptoms just to see if you have any of these. Shortness of breath.
Okay. Any tightness in your chest area?
A little bit.
All right. Any respiratory problems? Do you have a history of them in your family?
Okay.
And then your nurse is going to check your blood pressure because low blood pressure is one of the 4 to 10-day symptoms.
And then if you wait too long, you don't catch it, there can even be some internal bleeding, so the nurse will check over all of that with you. So, I think that is all I need to get from you. Do you have any questions right now?
Any concerns?
Okay.
Your nurse will be right back in just a second.
Hi there. I'm your nurse CC. I'll be taking a look at you today. So, tell me a little bit about what's going on.
Okay, you think you have the hantavirus.
And I was informed you were on the ship with the other people who had symptoms.
Okay.
Okay. And what have you been experiencing?
Mhm.
Okay.
Mhm. Yeah, we can take a look at that.
Okay. Don't worry, we are going to look at everything we need to. I'm going to start by getting some basic vitals from you. So, first I'm going to listen to your heart. So, you know the drill. I'm going to find your heart and you're just going to take nice slow breaths in and out for me, okay?
>> [snorts] >> Breathe in.
And out.
Again.
Okay, very good. Very good.
Now, I'm going to go ahead and get your blood pressure because one of the symptoms of the hantavirus is high blood pressure, so we're going to make sure your blood pressure is stable. I'm just going to put this around your arm if you don't mind.
Strap that right there.
It's going to get tight in just a second.
All right, and you're going to feel the tightness going away. Releasing, releasing.
Okay.
Your blood pressure looks a little high.
Do you have symptoms of high blood pressure in your family?
Your mom has it? Okay, sounds good.
Let me quickly get your reflexes now.
I'm just going to have you relax your body for me. Relax your whole body for me. I'm going to tap this on each of your knees, okay? Just relax your legs. Don't let your legs hit the ground. Just dangle them just like that.
Yes.
All right.
Good. Again.
Okay. I'm going to do the other one.
Good.
Okay. Reflexes look pretty good. Now I'm going to go ahead and take your temperature, okay?
I'm just going to run this right across your forehead really quickly, okay?
Okay, it looks like we got 100.4, which is a temperature, so you do have a temperature, just a little bit. Um, which isn't the best sign, unfortunately, but we don't know yet, okay? So there are some other things, some other tests I'm going to run on you. I'm going to have to check out your eyes, your vision, and then just a little bit of hearing things, okay?
Sound good?
Okay.
Okay, let me get my glove on.
My one glove, because I broke my finger.
All right.
I'm just going to start by looking at your eyes, okay?
I'm going to have you follow this light for me. Follow this light for me.
Don't turn your head, just follow it with your eyes and your eyes only.
Great job. Great job so far.
Keep following that light for me.
Tell me when the light leaves your line of vision.
Tell me when the light leaves your line of vision.
One more time.
Tell me when it leaves your line of vision.
Okay, and have you been experiencing any blurred vision?
Okay, I'm just going to take a look at your eyes real quick to check for redness.
Okay, so I'm going to just open up your eye like that.
Take a look.
Okay, not seeing any eye redness.
Okay.
Going to take a look at the other one.
I'm just going to open up your eye.
Okay.
Bright light, sorry about that.
Now look at my nose. Look at my nose.
Okay.
Your eyes are looking pretty solid to me.
But we're going to do a little eye test with this handy-dandy chart.
If you've ever been to the eye doctor, you've probably seen something very similar to this, just with the letters.
This one's a little easier for you, and then I have this which I'm going to cover one of your eyes with, okay?
And when I cover your eye, you are going to begin reading from the top to the bottom. Just tell me exactly what you see. None of these are meant to trick you. They're all pretty >> [sighs] >> common things that you should know right away. So, I'm just going to cover this eye. Start reading from the top down and tell me everything you see.
Tell me everything you see until you can't see it anymore.
Okay.
Keep going. Keep going.
Mhm.
Your vision it's going blurry?
So, you're having blurred vision?
Okay, that's not a good sign.
Keep reading it as best as you can. If your vision goes blurry, try your best to tell me what you see, okay?
Okay, I won't hurt your eyes any more than I already have.
I'm just going to stick this stick in your mouth really quick and I'm going to look inside your mouth. This might be a little weird and uncomfortable and I'm sorry. I'm just going to stick that right there.
I'm just going to take a little look inside your mouth really, really quickly.
Really, really quickly.
Okay.
Not seeing any irritation, redness, or swelling.
Okay.
Okay, mouth looks pretty good. And now I'm just going to do a quick look at your ears.
Okay, I'm going to use this right here.
I'm just going to put this inside your ear.
And we're going to take a look. Take a look.
And okay.
Okay.
Can I go around to the other side?
Mhm.
Okay.
Not seeing anything in your ears that's concerning me really. It's mainly just you said your vision was going blurry when you were trying to read the chart, which I'm not going to lie, that's not the best sign, so.
Um based on the things I've looked at, the things you've told me, I do think you have the hantavirus. It might not be a super severe case, but I'm glad we're catching it early enough before it gets to the respiratory problems or the internal bleeding, cuz that can lead to death, right?
Hantavirus, 30% death rate, pretty common, and we're catching it early, so that's a good thing. So, what I can do now, now that we know, is I can go ahead and give you a shot. Um this is going to help with the symptoms, hopefully ease your pain a little bit and not make you so uncomfortable.
Um and hopefully it will just get better with time.
But, if any of your symptoms start getting worse or you start feeling things you haven't felt before, please come back in right away. Don't hesitate, come back in right away, okay?
Okay, I'm going to go grab my stuff so I can give you the shots. I will be right back.
All right, I'm back. I have all of my things.
I am just going to do one thing really quick. I'm just going to push on your stomach down here.
Does that hurt at all?
Any abdominal pain down here?
Okay. And then when I push up here on your forehead, does that hurt at all? Does that feel weird?
Okay. And now on your chest area.
Is there any tightness in that area?
Okay.
Okay, wonderful.
All right, let's get the shot done.
We're going to make it really quick and really easy for you.
Got this here.
Okay.
Okay, I'm going to put the lid right back on this.
All right, I'm going to do it right on your arm right here, just where you would normally get a shot. Would you like me to count down, or do you just want me to go for it?
All right, you're just going to feel a small little pinch, okay?
There we go. Just a small pinch, really quickly.
There we go. You did great. Now, we'll get you all bandaged up with this pretty blue band-aid right here. I'm going to put that on there for you.
Press it down, so it doesn't come off on you.
All right, and I think that is everything. As I said earlier, please do not hesitate to come back in if you're feeling any weird things, anything you've never felt before, please, please, please come in right away.
Okay?
I hope I don't have to see you again. I hope things get better, but I mean, you never know. The world we live in, I tell you. Yeah.
Well, you have a great rest of your day.
Bye.
