[00:00:02]Hey, this is Cameron and welcome to the practice log. Whoa, whoa, whoa. Yeah, we got a lot of stuff to get into today. It is just getting warm, huh? We're sitting at a nice 63% humidity here wherever I live. Oh, it just went to 64. That might have been from my hand humidity. I do have hot hands. That's what they call me. It's especially warm in this room because I moved the AC to all the other rooms. Uh, it makes filming a little bad, but it's fine. I don't mean to make my problems your problems. So, I'm not trying to complain right now. Hey, what are you watching? This is a practice log which consists of three things. First, there's small talk, which is this. I have a lot to get into today. So, we'll see how much small talk we actually do.

[00:00:44]And then third, I'm going to play something for you. I already practiced a little bit, but my morning has been filled with like straight desk jockey work, but I played the third movement of the Rodrigo Sonata Gakosa, and you know what? It went pretty badly. But uh that's okay. This is the worst I'll ever play it. There are some things that I need to work on specifically with that and I'll talk about that uh in a bit. I know that's your guys' favorite part of Sorehands, listening to me talk about my practice. It actually might be. I don't know. I feel like a lot of you are disappointed in the uh sheer number of stupid reaction videos I've been making.

[00:01:14]But you know, that's how I built this channel from uh nothing basically. So I got to do those. But I am happy to talk to you for a little bit. So as you guys know, I've been doing the recital class and yesterday was actually the second one. I had 15 people sold out class and that's been hosted on Patreon. And I've been finding that there are some bottlenecks in Patreon. These are bottlenecks that I didn't really know existed. And this is a little bit of uh words of caution here. I've been using Gemini, Google's Gemini to sort of direct me uh through business stuff. And I'll ask it like how these platforms work. Like Patreon for example, it told me, I swear to God it told me. I'm not going to find the chat log, but it told me that if I make a tier for Patreon, like let's say a 10 member tier, only 10 people can join it. It's just for one class. And if I delete the tier right after, the people who joined it would stop being build. Well, that's not how Patreon works. Like apparently, when you buy a tier on Patreon, you're on the hook for that. Even if the tier and the benefits go away, like if the user deletes it all, you've still pledged that money and will be donating that every month. I guess it is a donation platform and I am trying to incorrectly use it as like an ecommerce sort of uh platform, but I didn't know that. So, I've sent messages to everybody on the Patreon because you have to end your membership now unless you want to keep giving me 11 bucks a month. But that's okay. Thank god I caught it early on and before a month actually restarted cuz right now I only have to deal with 27 like people who have even signed up for the class in its lifetime. If I caught this like a month later, that would have been a disaster and also an excellent money maker. uh scam basically. But um so you know if you did the Patreon class, be sure to end your membership unless you just want to give me money.

[00:02:51]In which case uh don't do that. Just like take another class, I guess. God, I'm getting sweaty in here. It's hot.

[00:02:57]I'm roasting. Roasting like a pig in here. I got to cool this room down before I film in it. I usually don't practice in this room either. And I did practice in this room just to get a video of me playing the piece that I said. If you could smell what I'm smelling right now, you would unsubscribe. So, I'm moving away from Patreon and it's not set up yet, but I'm going to be using this event platform called Luma that's hooked up with Stripe. And the only a little concerning thing about using Stripe is that you're going to be getting receipts from me and like my business and I'm required to post like customer service information which uh involves a phone number and also an address. So, if I were to just leave things as they are right now and start using that without like getting a new address, I would have accidentally given everybody who pays for a class my actual home address. And uh let's just say if I did that, this class wouldn't be going on too long because I would be found in a ditch. I'm sure I know you guys, I go to the hidden comments sometimes and uh it's imperative that I don't get geollocated. I'll just put it that way. Basically, I've had to figure out how to make like a new business mailing address or I think it's just for internet mailing. Um so, I found this website. what's it called? It's like uh it's some virtual mailbox, but it is connected to an actual street with like a building that has like virtual mailboxes in it. But what I think that is is like you know how whenever you go to a big city like especially in the downtown area and there are these buildings and you're like what do these buildings do? I don't see any people in these buildings. I think they might just be virtual addresses. There's just like whole buildings like that. I looked mine up on Google Earth and it was like yeah that just looks like a a random building. So it makes you wonder how many of those buildings exist. So anyways, I've been setting that up. I had to like talk to a notary today and stuff and I think in the next couple of days I will finally be able to announce for the first time the recital class that's on Luma. And the really unfortunate thing from all this and the reason why Patreon isn't working is because all the people who signed up for that first class for $11, once they signed up for the next class for $11, they weren't even charged. Because apparently how Patreon works, if you buy a tier that's like the same price, you still pledge the same amount. So it's not like you pledge that much again additionally. So basically everybody who attended both classes, you got the second class for free and you can't know how much that devastates me as Sorands International CEO. The fact that we lost money and gave away product for free.

[00:05:15]That makes me want to scream at this camera right now. I hate that dude. But what's done is done and there's nothing I can do about it. And you people who showed it to both classes made out like bandits. You freaking You got me. You got me. But that's never happening again. Never ever will I let that happen again. So I think in a couple of days or so everything will finally be set up and I can announce the first recital class off of Luna, which let me also say I really think that it is a special thing that is hard to come by and just being a part in like leading these past two seeing everybody get so nervous because I don't think anybody is just not nervous to play. I don't know.

[00:05:54]It's just a little bit of pressure. like I'm there, which I feel like shouldn't be a big deal, but you know what? I think it kind of is for some people. And then also just being in the room with all these strangers once it's your time to go on, like I can tell there's fear in the air. And every single person who has played, it seems like something happened to them. Like something in their head, like they learned something about their playing or something about the piece they're working on. They maybe thought they had something. They figure out that they don't have something. It is just a super productive place to just try things out and to like fail sometimes and then also to succeed and to be like I played great. Like I I've like proven something to myself now. So I'm happy to report it really is turning into exactly what I wanted it to. And so I'm happy to take this extra time to do it right cuz I can see this being like a long-term thing. And it seems like the demand is still pretty good. Like again sold out the last one. I think I'm going to keep it under 15 people going forward. Maybe like between 12 and 13 is a pretty good amount. 15 went on for a while. I think the class went over like 2 hours. So, it was a lot. So, it's a great experience. And I'm not just saying that because it's mine. I really believe it is. I wouldn't be doing it if I didn't. It's just been fun. And I would bet you if you asked anybody who joined, they would also say that it's been fun and productive. At least seems that way to me. Hey, well, that's the small talk. [00:07:10]Maybe I'll try to answer like one comment question and then we're going to wrap this thing up. This video is probably going to get demonetized unless I played my music like so poorly that YouTube doesn't even recognize it, which would be impressive because their algorithm is getting pretty sophisticated with that. I'd have to play it really bad for it not to get recognized. Hey, here's a question. Um, I never answer these when I see it because I've answered a lot of them, but this is from Angel Plays cello. You asked, "What's the piece played in the intro?" And obviously you mean the intro of all my videos. Uh that is a recording a very like kind of crappy recording of soar opus 60 number one. Sort of my theme song now I guess. I have dreams of maybe doing like a recording project where I record most or all of soropus 60 because I recorded the first seven pieces or so excluding number four which is the minor one cuz I wanted them all to be major and I also didn't want to read in C minor because I'm pretty sure that's the key it's in. Too many flats just skipped it. Whatever. It would be cool to record all those though and then I can use them as like background music because I have what I've recorded. Like it's the first seven. It's like eight or nine minutes of recording that I just kind of use for my intros. They're not very good though. And I I recorded those when I was a very different quality of guitarist because I feel like I've gotten a lot better since then, which I I recorded that like kind of at the start of my YouTube channel. But that's what that is. And if you're interested in getting into classical guitar, sore opus 60, it can be found like on IMSLP.

[00:08:33]And I'm saying opus 60. That is a collection of 25 I believe pieces or etudes written by Fernando sore. It's a really good starting place especially the first three or so for like getting into site reading. It's just single line melodies. It just moves around the open position. That's all you have to read.

[00:08:50]And they're all mostly in C major. So, you know, you just have to learn one key. And by the time you can play those well, you're able to read the open position on the guitar. So, it's a good place to start. It's probably not like the place to start if you don't know how to read music at all. Honestly, for just learning how to read music, you can just start with like a Mel Bay like site readading book one, but you could get started with Soropus 60 just from learning how to read on the first three strings of the guitar, which would take no time at all using one of those books.

[00:09:16]And honestly, you don't even need to use one of those books, but it'll provide like a really clear explanation of each note and where it falls in the open position. You know what? I'll talk more about that later. This is just a short video that I know is going to get demonetized, so I don't want to make it too long and I don't want to put too much effort into it. So, I'm going to go ahead and play Rodrigo Sonata Gakosa Third Movement and I'm going to tell you everything that's wrong with it after you listen to it, just so you're not like listening to it with too critical of an ear. [00:13:29]Hey. Pretty good, right? So, the biggest thing that I noticed from this, and this is what's so helpful about recording yourself playing, my Roski are like BS.

[00:13:38]They're like so bad. The work I was putting into Rushstroke over the last like 6 months or so, I think I need to put into Roski just to get that D for clear like drum rolls. That's one of the biggest things that I'm missing there.

[00:13:50]Overall, I think my tone has improved a lot. Honestly, that master class I did in Boon with Dr. James, he really reminded me that like your tone is supposed to be good and you should try attacking the strings at different angles and using that support the guitar lift. I was so on board with foot stools for a while, but yeah, I don't know.

[00:14:09]After using that thing, it's going to be hard to go back. Yeah, other than that, just getting the second half better learned and then like hardcore Rosiato practice, the next time you hear that, it's going to be much tighter. I know.

[00:14:20]Like that's how my rest strokes were for the first movement too because I feel like reststroke and Rosciato, those are techniques I haven't really done that much over my classical uh lifetime, but I'm really going hardcore on them. And I think that's going to be kind of the the thing that this master's degree really ingrains in me. Reststroke Rosiato, really important things for playing Spanish music, of course. Other than that, like general accuracy, especially for a piece I don't know that well, I feel like I'm getting better at just being able to play the right notes reliably, which is something I couldn't always say. I'm going to go ahead and wrap this up. This is a short unfunny video. Doesn't need to be. Just like feeding the algorithm a little bit, just saying hi. I'm moving off a Patreon for the recital class. Once that's ready, I'll make another practice log where I explain exactly how to do it. You know, if you're a classical guitarist and you don't have much of an opportunity to perform, but you have stuff that you want to try out, it's a great place to do that. It's more than just an open mic. It's a group of classical guitarists and good classical guitarists, too. The last group of 15 people, they were bringing heat. Like, people were playing like big masterworks. It's a rare place to find.

[00:15:27]It's like a real classical guitar like community and you're going to play for people who know what's up. So, it it's just good. Like, I'm just really happy with it so far.
