[00:00:09]Have you ever noticed that the Jehovah's Witnesses sound different when they talk? They call it the pure language of the truth. Ask any Jehovah's Witness why they sound different and the answer is always the same. Their vocabulary honors Jehovah and distinguishes themselves from Satan's world. But in reality, the Jehovah's Witness vocabulary is carefully engineered to reinforce obedience, terminate critical thought, and keep members working for free.

[00:00:35]Today, we are counting down 10 things JWs say that sound culty as But there is a twist. Number one sounds the most innocent, but it's actually the cultiest of them all. Enjoy. [00:00:58]I want to address the theme young ones you are loved by Jehovah and his organization.

[00:01:07]Young ones. Young ones sounds like a warm, inclusive term for children. Yes, Jehovah loves young ones. Young ones.

[00:01:17]Especially you young ones in your teens.

[00:01:20]But now, when we say young ones to whom are we referring? But young ones is actually developmental arrest disguised as affection because you can't call someone a young one and also treat them as an individual with agency. The phrase itself infantilizes and an organization that keeps its children permanently childlike never has to worry about them growing up and leaving.

[00:01:42]Older ones, >> [music] >> single sisters, and young ones, too, are volunteering. And what opportunities are open in the field for our young ones?

[00:01:52]Young ones show great [music] respect for older ones. And again, that fits right in. We we're never too busy for our young ones. This is true even of our young ones.

[00:02:02]Are your young ones ready? I really enjoy what it does for young ones. When young ones spend considerable time with other young ones You see young ones, even very young children. Well, I'm really grateful to Jehovah and the organization for the love that they show to us young ones.

[00:02:23]Parents, will your children become good examples for other young ones in the truth? Number nine, rightly disposed.

[00:02:32]Let's search out for those that are rightly disposed.

[00:02:36]Brother Rodriguez searches for those rightly disposed for everlasting life wherever he can find them.

[00:02:42]>> To the untrained ear, rightly disposed sounds like a weird phrase to describe open-hearted people genuinely seeking a relationship with God.

[00:02:50]>> Rightly disposed ones will recognize the truth [music] when they hear it expressed simply. But Jehovah found a way to find rightly disposed ones. But actually, rightly disposed is a compliance filter because the governing body isn't looking for truth seekers.

[00:03:05]They're searching for people who won't push back. In Jehovah's Witnesses, resistance isn't a sign of critical thinking. It's proof that you're not rightly disposed.

[00:03:15]Searching those rightly disposed [music] ones, that's who he draws.

[00:03:20]God gently draws to himself those who have a heart that is rightly disposed.

[00:03:26]>> [music] >> Speak up.

[00:03:28]It may well be that an angel is directing you to one who is rightly disposed [music] for everlasting life. But we're looking to focus on those rightly disposed. And those that are rightly disposed recognize them.

[00:03:44]>> Number eight, the other sheep.

[00:03:47]And usually, we of the other sheep know who partakes of the emblems because after all in our congregation we see the the emblems being passed and we can see individuals partaking.

[00:04:00]Whether of the anointed or of the other sheep. On the surface, other sheep is a biblical term describing God's flock as broad and inclusive.

[00:04:09]>> Then in 1935, Brother Rutherford identified [music] the great multitude of other sheep. and everlasting life here on the earth for the other sheep. And the other sheep However, the term other sheep is actually the opposite of inclusive. The Governing Body are viewed as royalty.

[00:04:26]They are the 144,000 that will rule with Christ in heaven over paradise earth. However, the other sheep are merely the supporting cast.

[00:04:35]Their entire eternal purpose is to assist the anointed enthusiastically by helping in the preaching work. When Paul said in Romans chapter 12 verse 12, "Rejoice in the hope ahead."

[00:04:48]he meant the heavenly hope.

[00:04:51]But the other sheep also can rejoice in the hope that's ahead of them. The great crowd of other sheep will be judged on the basis of how they deal with Christ's brothers.

[00:05:04]The main point of this illustration is that the master Jesus expects each of his anointed brothers, the slaves, and by extension those who are of the other sheep to do his or her best in the assigned work of preaching the good news.

[00:05:23]We of the other sheep, we've got the responsibility to do the same thing, but that illustration was directed truly to the anointed.

[00:05:31]Uh we see the anointed along with the support from the other sheep zealously share life-giving truth with others. We felt that some of the anointed would survive Armageddon and move right on into the paradise with the other sheep.

[00:05:49]>> Number seven, spiritual food. But now, what about our spiritual food? We need physical food to stay alive, and we enjoy doing so.

[00:06:00]But the same is true with spiritual food.

[00:06:03]A second, what spiritual food accomplishes?

[00:06:06]>> Spiritual food at the right time. This is the taking spiritual food gallery.

[00:06:11]Can you guess what design we used?

[00:06:14]That's right, a dining table. Spiritual food sounds like nourishment for the soul. Things like food, clothing, and shelter.

[00:06:25]But how can we gain spiritual food?

[00:06:30]Rather than mechanically reading or passively listening to spiritual food, to enjoy the flavor and the taste of each rich morsel, is to write down the beautiful thoughts that we come across while enjoying our spiritual food.

[00:06:45]>> The doctrine of spiritual food comes from a single Bible verse, Matthew 24:45. "Who then is the faithful and discreet slave whom his master has appointed over his domestics to give them their food at the proper time?"

[00:06:59]From that one verse, the governing body builds its entire claim to authority because the moment you accept spiritual food as a concept, you've already accepted the governing body as your chef. The logic is circular and deliberate. If the food is divinely appointed, then the ones preparing and distributing it must be, too.

[00:07:20]Who really is the faithful and discreet slave whom his master appointed over his domestics to give them their food at the proper time? So, clearly Christ has a point has appointed the faithful and discreet slave, and it is through this channel that Jehovah, through Christ, works to uh provide spiritual food.

[00:07:42]Truly spiritual food at the proper time.

[00:07:47]A slave that would give the domestics their food at the proper time.

[00:07:56]>> [clears throat] >> The Governing Body wants all of you to know including those that'll see it later that we are determined to remain active and to faithfully deliver spiritual food at the right time.

[00:08:17]>> [screaming] >> Number six, pure worship.

[00:08:20]>> We're supporting pure worship, the way that Jehovah has restored pure worship in our time. [music] our pure worship.

[00:08:28]But Hezekiah renovated the temple and restored pure worship [music] there.

[00:08:33]That pure worship was like a river of blessing that connected the people to Jehovah. Pure worship sounds like a noble ideal. It sounds clean, honorable, and dignified. Worshiping God with sincerity and integrity. What does the mountain of the house of Jehovah represent?

[00:08:51]Pure worship. And it will help you to do your part in upholding pure worship.

[00:08:56]Pure worship he so richly deserves. The Governing Body isn't inviting you to worship more purely. They're telling you that you never have, and that they're the only ones who can fix that. He required that the Israelites render him pure worship and he requires the same of us today.

[00:09:15]It's so important that all of us remain loyal to Jehovah. Only then can we give him pure worship.

[00:09:23]And they'll strengthen your resolve to give Jehovah pure worship.

[00:09:29]Thinking about this vision will impress on us the need to give Jehovah undivided pure worship. As you review the history of pure worship, you'll gain a deeper understanding of what we need to do to give Jehovah the pure worship he deserves. Number five, Jehovah's arrangement. This was Jehovah's arrangement.

[00:09:53]Because he accepted Jehovah's arrangement for salvation, Jehovah loves the family arrangement. On the surface, Jehovah's arrangement means God has a thoughtful ordered plan for his people.

[00:10:06]How wonderful.

[00:10:09]From Paul, we learn about Jehovah's arrangement. Or that it does not fit into God's arrangement. These are joyfully flocking to the great spiritual temple, Jehovah's arrangement for worshipping him on the basis of Jesus' ransom sacrifice.

[00:10:28]However, Jehovah's arrangement is actually the governing body's ultimate liability shield. Every controversial policy, every failed prediction, every rule that breaks up families, none of it belongs to 11 men in Warwick. It's all Jehovah's arrangement, and to question or disagree with the governing body is to rebel against Jehovah's arrangement.

[00:10:47]How exactly does the light get brighter?

[00:10:49]How does Jehovah use that arrangement to clarify [music] our understanding?

[00:10:55]>> He could avail himself of Jehovah's arrangements, accept [music] correction, and move forward. Thanks to the fact that they followed Jehovah's arrangements and took them to heart.

[00:11:07]It's not a matter [music] of just being single. It's a matter of how you use it to support [music] Jehovah's arrangement.

[00:11:15]Another result of the convention, some who partook of the bread and wine at the memorial stopped doing so.

[00:11:23]Why?

[00:11:24]Because they realized they had the earthly hope. They came to appreciate their place in Jehovah's arrangement.

[00:11:32]Number four, spiritual progress.

[00:11:34]>> But don't let it paralyze your spiritual progress.

[00:11:41]>> [screaming] >> I'm not giving you an opportunity to hinder my spiritual progress. I felt that spiritual progress was appointments and assignments.

[00:11:54]After that, we continued to make spiritual progress and draw closer to God. And undoubtedly that will be an impetus to our spiritual progress in the new world. Who could possibly oppose someone making spiritual progress? We're talking about personal growth in your walk with God, right? Wrong. Spiritual progress is a performance audit dressed in biblical language. Your personal life and desires are irrelevant. What matters is whether your metrics are trending in the right direction. Our speech can reveal the degree to which we have made spiritual progress. I still had [music] some distractions in my life. I was training for a race across the Alps. I was still working in the on the oil platforms in the North Sea.

[00:12:39]>> [music] >> I wasn't making spiritual progress.

[00:12:43]He gradually made spiritual progress, >> [music] >> joined the ministry school, and received his first assignment.

[00:12:50]>> [music] >> Now, I serve as an elder.

[00:12:53]My family is progressing spiritually.

[00:12:56]The trips have helped our son make spiritual [music] progress. For us as his parents, that is the greatest blessing.

[00:13:05]Don't let my mental illness stop me from progressing [music] spiritually. Number three, theocratic assignment. or any other theocratic assignment.

[00:13:13]>> This will help me fulfill my theocratic assignment.

[00:13:17]>> theocratic assignments in a theocratic building project.

[00:13:21]>> the theocratic assignments that you have performed in secret.

[00:13:25]>> A theocratic assignment sounds harmless, and of course, no one would be given an assignment they didn't want, right?

[00:13:32]Wrong. The word assignment itself removes consent from the equation. You don't apply for your assignment. You don't negotiate it. You receive it, and you must view your assignment, even if it's scrubbing toilets at the Kingdom Hall, as a privilege. If not, then you are not progressing spiritually. The genius is that they made obedience to arbitrary tasks feel like spiritual maturity.

[00:13:53]Whatever theocratic assignment we may be given, putting forth time and effort to get to know the the terrain, so to speak, will contribute to our effectiveness.

[00:14:04]When we show interest in our assigned work, we become even more effective fellow workers of Jehovah. Moving forward, [music] Bethel service will no longer be viewed as a lifelong assignment, >> but will soon be heading toward your assignments, which we know you'll enjoy.

[00:14:20]We love our assignment. between being hungry as a bear prior to hibernation and and you.

[00:14:28]Well, you're not going into hibernation.

[00:14:31]There's very little downtime between the end of class and starting in your theocratic assignments. But we also know that you're very keen and enthusiastic to get to your assignments, whether you're going back to where you came from or you're going to a new assignment.

[00:14:46]Our current and future needs require more young brothers to make themselves available for expanded theocratic service. What's the problem? She feels stressed out. Both of them work every day at their theocratic assignments.

[00:14:59]Number two, Kingdom interests.

[00:15:03]Putting Kingdom interests first has changed everything about our lives.

In Matthew 6:33, Jesus instructed his followers to keep on seeking the Kingdom. In Jehovah's organization, Kingdom interests is a blank check. Any demand the organization makes on your time, money, family, or career can be justified by invoking it.

[00:17:00]This spiritual light is progressively getting brighter and brighter for us.

[00:17:05]It's obvious that Jehovah's spirit is guiding the work. At last, this light is reaching our hearts. On the surface, the ideal of new light is a beautiful concept, God progressively revealing deeper truth to his people over time.

[00:17:19]It's like spiritual evolution, growing closer to divine understanding. How does the light get brighter?

[00:17:27]Our songs reflect our current [music] understanding of scriptural truth. As the light gets brighter, we understand the truth [music] more clearly. We're told that the path of the righteous, that's your path, that's my path, is like the bright morning light that grows brighter and brighter until full daylight.

[00:17:48]>> But in reality, new light is the governing body's most sophisticated escape hatch. It's the phrase that makes every failed prophecy, every doctrinal reversal, every catastrophically wrong prediction simply disappear.

[00:18:03]In recent years, the annual meeting has been an occasion where clarified understanding of Bible truths, a new light, has been announced and explained.

[00:18:15]So, one of the important tools that we have is our Watchtower Publications Index. In the index, there's a section entitled Beliefs Clarified, and we have had quite a few clarifications in the last 10 years. At what rate does he reveal new light?
