Business owners must proactively adjust prices when major operational expenses (such as fuel, insurance, and landfill fees) increase significantly, rather than waiting for external guidance or hoping costs will decrease; the key principle is that business owners have the authority to make their own pricing decisions to maintain profitability during economic changes.

Why I Raised Prices During InflationAdded:
There's a gray bag here.
All right. Well, you know what? I'm going to find a spot for it then. Can't get a hold of anybody. Yo, yo, yo, what is going on, YouTube? This is Josh from American AF Dumpsters in DeSoto, Texas dropping off a 15-yd. Nobody's answering the call. Nobody's answering the door.
So, we're just going to drop her off. No instructions on the [clears throat] way.
So, it is what it is. What happens when people don't answer. And if they want me to move it, they'll probably have to pay a dry run fee.
The best spot's going to be right back here out of the way.
Uh-oh. Too late now.
>> Do you have any more specific you wanted the can?
>> All right. Where would you want it?
Right there.
Oh, whichever one you want.
You want it there in that spot?
>> That's where I was going to put it anyways. Okay.
>> Perfect. That's where I was going to put it.
Where did he go?
I can't see him.
Oh, there he is.
You're all set? We just had said nothing goes over the top of the dumpster from the wall down.
>> 2,000 lb, right?
>> You got 2,000 included. Yeah, you can go as heavy as you want, really, but 2,000 included.
>> Okay.
>> So, but yeah, just uh from the from the top down.
>> All right, yeah.
>> Cool. Have a good one.
>> [music] >> What's up, guys? David here. Quick little shout-out to our sponsor, Kim Industries.
This is not Kim Industries. Uh if you want to know how it's not Kim Industries, uh look at this.
Look at this tarp. This is uh this is one holy tarp. It's bad. But, let me show you Kim's. But, here we have our brand new Kim Industry tarp.
I mean, look at that. Look at the quality.
This thing is just beautiful.
But, yeah, just installed this bad boy this morning, and this thing is Mhm. It is good. It's going to last us a good long time. Kim Industry knows how to do it on the first go. They get it right for you. Shout-out Kim Industries, go check them out. 10% off if you use our discount code. Yeah, go get you some. All right, so we are here in Glendale, which is only a few miles down the street from the last drop-off, which is always nice.
Picking up this 20-yard. I got to go dump it. And I believe we have another home for it.
And then we also got to go eventually get the other truck.
I got to work in the big truck today as well.
So, Clayton posted in uh oh, your the YouTube page the other day on Dumpster Rental 101. He was asking questions about like what did most people do about credit card fees? How are we how are we combating You know, what's funny is I made a post months ago about how fuel prices are going up and we got to raise our prices.
And so many people in the comments were like, "Oh, it's only been going up for a couple weeks and we're going to be over." They bought the BS propaganda from A, the media and B, our politicians saying it's only going to be 2 weeks.
Like I said in a video before, I said something about, yeah, the last time I heard about something only being 2 weeks, it ended up being COVID and lasted 2 years. So, never believe the first estimate of time people give you. But, you know, so many people are just like, oh, if you can't afford if you can't cover the the short-term price increase in fuel, uh you know, then you shouldn't be in business or some crap like that. And I'm like, you know what?
First of all, mind your business. Second of all, what's nice about being a business owner is you make the rules. You make your own rules. If you feel that you need to raise prices because I mean, gas prices are going way up. I mean, it's not like it's a small part of our business. Fuel pricing Fuel is like a major expense in a logistics type business like this.
What's nice about it is that again, you make your own rules. Fuel is a major part of one a major expense of ours between fuel, insurance, and landfill, those are going to be your top three.
And if one of your top three expenses in your business goes up by 20, 30, 50%, even 100%, well, you've got to make changes in your business to to be able to to afford that. So, um it was a great post by Clayton yesterday and he was talking about credit card fees. And like, you know, one way to combat your pricing or our pricing issues is to possibly A lot of people talk about passing on credit card fees onto the customer. Should you pass on your credit card fees or should you include it in your pricing? It's up to each individual business how they want to do so. You know, but I thought that was a good post and I mean, it it it raises the question. Like, we've got to get kind of creative in how we price our dumpsters.
Gas in your car anyway.
>> [music] >> Oh lord.
Yeah.
Man.
>> [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] >> Jesus Christ.
>> [music] >> There's a hole there. All right, we're here in Dallas picking up a 40-yard doing a dump and return.
And then when we dump and return this one, we will be picking up the second 40, dumping it, and then we got another drop-off for it.
There's a big old hole right here in the ground.
I missed.
I thought I was dying. Thought we were going to go right into the third realm of I don't know what Door is locked and everything, right?
They did a good job filling it up nice and level.
And you kind of nice jobs. Real quick, easy turns.
Get in there.
Get in there. There we go. All right.
Cool, 40 yd loaded.
Throw the tarp on this bad boy and let's get out of here.
Landfill's only 4.9 mi. We don't get that very often.
Cool. We out.
Try not to fall in a ditch. I'm going to just back out.
Back out onto the road. Probably the easiest, especially when you have Mr. Mr. David with the camera.
Thought my camera guy was spotting.
>> [music] >> Excuse me.
You look like a monster.
You >> [music] >> look like a monster.
>> [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] >> You look like a You look like a monster.
>> [music] >> And with this one, we're done in a second.
>> [music] >> You >> [music] >> Yeah, we are Audi.
>> Not coming back here today. Freaking sinkhole right there.
>> [music] [music] [music] [music] >> Last year I came and I doubled my income with just the basic [music] stuff that I learned from the guys and gals that were here, man. I was talking to people, my head exploded. When I got home, I just verbal vomited when I got home cuz I had so much stuff just rattling around in my head. If you don't want the information, then you're right. You're going to struggle through it slowly, one step at a time. But, it's good to be sitting out here with these guys and [music] gals and be able to talk to somebody and say, "So, what worked for you? What didn't work for you?" You know, [music] and and and take the stuff home that makes sense.
>> [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] >> Nice.
Will Let's see if we can make this happen.
Swapping the 40 with the 30.
I don't think I'm going to do a same spot swap cuz just be ready to.
Drop this pebble right here. Question is, am I going to be able to grab Am I going to be able to grab that 30?
Place your bets now, ladies and gentlemen. It's a close.
I don't think he's going to be able to.
Well, good thing there's not a truck parked here cuz that would really suck.
We're here in downtown Dallas. Got two other dumpster companies here.
Why? I have no idea.
Okay.
Drop off.
Easy.
Grab this thing.
We got it.
I got this.
Make sure you get all the different angles.
That angle's kind of difficult right here.
>> Got it. Probably the door is closed cuz I didn't even check.
That was sucks.
No sweat. Take picture.
Tarp it.
>> [music] >> Yeah, he might need to tell Daniel cuz >> [music] [music] >> Oh, I got to turn around now.
All right, so we are here in Dallas.
We've got a property clean out. And we're doing several dumpsters for this guy.
A lot of them are heavy cuz he's putting a lot of dirt in there with his skid steer. Good?
Good?
All right.
Cool.
3007 delivered. Putting in the eye cans.
>> [music] >> And we are back for the day.
Back at it.
Not back at it. We're done for the day.
I got some paperwork to do inside. Got some emails I got to respond to.
But for me, I'm done with dumpsters.
Y'all appreciate it. Don't forget to like, subscribe, smash the notification bell. We will see you guys on the next one.
