This analysis correctly identifies that the ultimate vulnerability in self-custody is human error rather than hardware failure. It serves as a necessary reality check for those who mistake owning a device for possessing actual security discipline.

Kaspa Security Warning! This Tangem Wallet Mistake Almost Cost MillionsAdded:
2.85 million Caspa and half a Bitcoin gone. That was the reality for BRT, a well-known voice in the Casper community just a few days ago. He thought he had lost a three-year grind in a single moment of rushing. If you hold Casper or use a hardware wallet, you need to hear exactly how this happened and how one moment almost cost him everything so that you don't make the same mistake.
Here's what happened. BRT was trying to swap one of his three tandem cards for a wearable ring. In the process, he accidentally wiped two of his cards.
When he went to use the third card, his only remaining backup, it wouldn't accept his passcode. He tried over 110 times. He was locked out. To his credit, BRT took full responsibility. He admitted he went seedless against his better judgment, used a PIN that matched his phone code, and rushed the process without checking the UI. It was a classic self-custody nightmare. Your keys, your problem. But this is where the Casper community showed his strength. People started fundraisers immediately to help a brother out. That is family. Something I've personally not seen before other than previous episodes inside the Caspa community. At first, this wasn't a wrong passcode, rather a tandem app glitch. a keyboard payload delay on newer iPhones where the app wouldn't register the codes unless it was copied and pasted from another app.
Then the twist. BRT got back in. The fix. He typed the passcode into a notes app and copy pasted it into Tandem and it worked. What's more, he did the honorable thing, refunding every single donation immediately. at Crypto Crew is stewardship and integrity in action.
Now, here's where it gets interesting.
Tandem investigated and concluded there was no bug, that it was simply a typo under stress, but BRT himself disagrees.
He said with full certainty it was not a typo, and that others have experienced the same issue. So, whether this was an iOS issue, a tandem issue, or a one-off glitch, we honestly don't know. What we do know is that BRT got back in. He refunded every cash donation and he secured everything properly afterwards.
Now, regarding Tang specifically, after this situation, I still use Tangent personally, but not blindly because this story shows something important. No hardware wallet is set and forget. It's not about the device. It's about how you set it up, how you back it up, and how you use it under pressure. The tool matters, but your discipline matters more. Especially on these murky waters of the crypto ocean. Regardless of who is right, Tandem or BRT, one thing is certain. Your security setup is your responsibility. If this story made you realize, your own setup is sloppy. Fix it today. Don't wait for a moment like this. Now, as some of you know, I've partnered with Tang, and currently there's an ongoing 20% off your Tang wallet, plus an additional $10 in Bitcoin. Thank you to all who got their Tangent wallet already using my special link, adding the codes Extra26 and Crypto Crew. This helps support the channel and it keeps me bringing these breakdowns and videos to the Caspa community. Now, as I mentioned earlier, I still personally use Tangent for my Caspa because it is the fastest way to get my Caspa coins off exchanges. But as we saw here with BRT, you have to do it right. If needed, use a C phrase and test your backups. That brings us to the next session, the lesson we can learn from this experience. A, panic is dangerous. When emotions take over, mistakes multiply. B. Don't give up. I know this sounds a bit corny, but just days ago, BRT was on the brink of giving up, saying he was writing his last post on X because of his loss. But the subsequent rallying of the Casper community, changed his mind. His post blew up and got the attention of many Caspians, including Caspac Michael Sutton, even amidst the preparation for the upcoming Tokata hard fork. C. Your setup matters more than your wallet. No tool can fix a rush process. D. You must test your system. Passcodes, backups, recovery. Don't assume it works. E, take full responsibility. That is why the Caspa community trusted BRT in the first place. Self-custody gives you freedom, but it also removes the safety net. So, with that said, crypto crew, stay sharp, stay accountable, and keep stacking what you truly control. God bless.
