Pratt falls short in LA, Hilton blasts vote count, Trump attends NBA FinalsAdded:
[music] >> Good morning. It's Tuesday, June 9th.
Thank you so much for joining us on this edition of Fox Wake Up. I'm Natasha Sweet. Mary Karen Bass and Councilwoman Nithya Raman have advanced to a runoff in the Los Angeles mayoral race ending the upstart campaign of reality TV star Spencer Pratt.
>> What I've heard from voters across the city right now is a sense of dissatisfaction with the direction of the city.
>> President Donald Trump accused the race of being rigged after Raman surpassed.
Pratt has endorsed candidate in the mail-in vote count. Bass now faces questions over her response to the Palisades fire and a delayed minimum wage hike for workers. Raman says she entered the race to fix the city's public safety and recovery failures.
Pratt built a viral campaign around homelessness and crime, but ultimately fell short in the jungle primary.
Republican gubernatorial candidate Steve Hilton is urging Governor Gavin Newsom to speed up California's vote counting process arguing delays are eroding public trust in the state's elections.
>> They seem to forget more people voted for President Trump in California than any other state. 6.1 million people in 2024. That's more than enough to elect me governor.
>> Hilton says the prolonged count has fueled speculation about election integrity with several high-profile contests still unresolved 6 days after election. He's unveiling an emergency election count accelerator plan that would temporarily reassign state employees to help county election offices process ballots faster.
California election officials defend the timeline citing extensive verification procedures and laws allowing late-arriving mail-in ballots. Newsom has previously urged local officials to accelerate the process to avoid conspiracy theories.
>> President Donald Trump and a large entourage of top administration officials and allies took in game three of the NBA finals from the presidential suite at Madison Square Garden.
>> The game has changed. I said it's gotten rougher.
Which is a good thing, not a bad thing.
It's gotten rougher.
When you look at the way they guard people now, I don't I don't remember them doing that 10 years ago.
And he knows a lot about basketball, but it's it's good. It's good for the game.
It's a tougher game.
>> The group included EPA administrator Lee Zeldin, Deputy Chief of Staff Dan Scavino, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, Interior Secretary Doug Burgum, Jared Kushner, and several other advisors. Security was tight as NYPD shut down 15 blocks around the arena before Trump's arrival. Trump is a lifelong Knicks fan, and the team is seeking its first title since 1973. The Knicks lost to the Spurs 115 to 111.
