In Florida, business acquisitions must follow a specific legal process defined by state law, which differs from internet advice or out-of-state practices; using unlicensed advisors for business transactions in Florida constitutes a felony, and following local market customs and licensed professionals ensures deals are completed efficiently while avoiding unnecessary legal costs.

The process you learned on instagram is not the process #businessexitAdded:
Hey everybody, Mike Shay, Transworld Business Advisors in Tampa.
Got a new one today. The continuing saga of buyers who are educated by Instagram and experts from out of state. So, if you had to draw a picture, they're all young, under 40, they're all either in marketing or have worked in corporate jobs and have fallen in love with the idea of entrepreneurship, and they do what entrepreneurs do, they go to the internet and get educated by whatever the algorithm says they need to be educated by. So, shame on us brokers because we haven't fixed that problem. But anyways, I literally got two emails today where they were they thought their process was due due diligence, then write the LOI, then do some more due diligence, and then write an APA.
And I'm going, "Look, dude, we're not in the business at small business of spending money on lawyers and accountants unnecessarily. Those are controllable costs. The process is defined here in the state of Florida. We in the state of Florida have done a really good job. We're the only place in the United States that has a marketplace, and we control our costs for our sellers by doing a very controlled process."
The guy then says to me, "Well, my advisor" I said, "I don't care what your advisor says. You're in the state of Florida, and if he's giving you advice and helping you buy a business in the state of Florida, and he's not a licensee, he's committing a felony. So, why don't we use somebody who's licensed and is a professional and follows the protocols and rules that are set by a really great marketplace that exists here in Florida.
If you want to learn more about it, give me a call at 321-287-0349, or visit the MLS that exists. It's www.bbfmls.com."
