Is Brain Atrophy Normal?

[00:00:00]A friend of mine had her full-body scan done recently. She got her results back and the doctor pointed to her prefrontal cortex and said there was a little atrophy there.

[00:00:12]He said, "That's normal for your age."

[00:00:14]But here's what the doctor didn't say.

[00:00:17]He didn't say it was inevitable. He just said it's normal.

[00:00:20]And we used to say the same thing about muscle loss. We stopped treating muscle loss as inevitable. The research on brain aging is now pointing in the same direction.
