This analysis sharply articulates the shift from material survival to emotional accountability, explaining why younger generations view Boomer parenting as a choice rather than a necessity. It provides a compelling framework for understanding the modern rift in generational empathy.

Truth About Boomer Parenting追加:
Something very important to understand is that the boomers viewed their parents as doing the best they could given the horrible situations that they were trying to survive. They viewed their parents as being broken by the world and not having the capacity to parent well because of it. And at the same time, they watched them sacrifice their personal self-interest for the sake of the family.
In contrast with this, the boomers grew up and lived into a uniquely prosperous era. The good times. Millennials and below view the boomers as having all the forces going in their favor as people who were supported by the world. Boomers really focused on their own personal fulfillment and individualism. It was a very big thing at that time. They chased personal success and esteem through career. They broke off marriages because they needed to find their own happiness.
Children were expected to add to their happiness. Because of this, the bad parenting that the boomers displayed did not read as doing the best that they could. It did not read as not having the capacity. Rather, it read as, "Oh, they have the capacity, but they're too self-centered to do it."
Because of this, in contrast to the way their parents felt, the trauma the millennials and youngers endured at the hand of the boomers feels unnecessary and also deeply personal.
