Obesity is a chronic disease that requires ongoing management and recovery, similar to addiction recovery, where individuals must navigate life's challenges including social events, holidays, and stress while maintaining their health journey; occasional setbacks or eating more than normal do not mean failure but rather part of the long-term recovery process.

No loss-No Gain and I'm finally OKAY with that/GLP-1 weight loss journey isn't always the sameAdded:
Welcome back and happy Mother's Day, my beautiful friends. Today is going to be a little bit different. I'm not going to do a full weekly check-in, weigh-in, all the things. We'll talk about it in a minute. But I wanted to say happy Mother's Day to all of you. I hope that you all had a fantastic day yesterday.
Today is actually Sunday and I am going to go do a little shopping, a little me shopping. So it's just about quarter to 10. I am going to go to Marshalls, probably the Dollar Tree. We'll see what else. I'm looking for a couple of things, but I just want to just do a little me time. Let me first show you what my amazing little grandson and my son and daughter-in-law gave me yesterday. So I did have the baby Friday night and all day yesterday. So my daughter-in-law always is great with like gifts. This is a little solar lantern for outside that I can put on my table or at the pool or something. She's she's like the best gift giver.
Super super cute and it has like flowers and she said that she saw it and she knows like it lights up and does like all the things. And then this super cute adjustable ring. You see it's like two-toned cuz she knows I've been having issues with my rings fitting and then look how cute.
So cute um from my grandson to put my jewelry on.
Okay, so we are leaving the house now.
I'm not going to do like a full sit and chat about my week and how much I weigh and all of that like I normally do because to be perfectly honest um it's about the same.
No significant loss.
Um I had lost like a pound or two somewhere along the lines and then went back. So, I'm somewhere between 141 142.
Um so, I am still up and I'm not here to make excuses, but um this month is going to be tricky. I'm not going to lie.
There's been a lot more eating out recently than normally and that's really not going to change over the next few weeks.
So, this past week at work is always interesting. Um it was staff appreciation week and our PTSA is amazing and they did something all week.
So, all week long there was treats and stuff and because I work in the main office, they deliver them right to my desk, which makes it you know, a little harder and I've said this before like even with food that like I don't want to throw away, I just have an issue with food in general, obviously, or I wouldn't have been 219 lb, but I don't want to seem ungrateful and at one point I had gone down to the teachers' room because they did these beautiful hardbound like journals and stickers that you could put on them. And a day or two later, my boss and I were down there and I literally said to her, I was like, I feel so bad. There's so much stuff in here and I hope that the women who are doing all of this hard work weren't thinking that our staff was ungrateful. I don't know if they just had extra or if a lot of people hadn't got and then when they were delivering treats, I kind of felt the same way.
Like I just I'm the first person that they see when they get there and I didn't want them to think that we were ungrateful or didn't want their to Anyway, and I'm not to say that like I ate a bunch of like crap. One day was trail mix, um, and I had handfuls of Craisins over the next few days cuz the Craisins were like super good and fresh. But like I know that that's a lot of sugar. The PTSA lady just drove by me that like did all of this.
Um, so there was just extra. One day was frozen lemonade, and I I only ate a little bit of it drank a little bit of it, but still you get my point. Um, I had the baby for the weekend, so last night we went out to dinner.
Um, today is Mother's Day. We are going out with my mom. We're taking my mom out for dinner.
So, you guys get it. In the coming weeks, we've got some school events for my son. Um, he's getting an academic award for excellence again this year.
We're just so proud of this kid.
Um, and his birthday is that week next Monday, so we're taking him out. We're having a party. It's just May is a lot.
Um, so I'm not going to stress over it. I did take my shot on Wednesday. I will see how far I get. I don't have a specific 10 days, 14 days of how long I'm going to spread it out. I'm going to kind of wait it out and see if I need it on day eight, if I need it on day nine, then that's what I will do.
Um, so I did spread my shot out. It was about 10-ish days last week. I went from Sunday to Wednesday. Um, and we'll see what happens this week. I just don't know.
Um, so I am heading right now to Marshalls just to see what they've got. The baby and I went to Marshalls yesterday to buy a couple of things for his mom.
Um, and I saw some things that I was interested in and I was like, you know what? Today's going to be a mom day. My husband and my son are going shooting.
It looks a little cloudy, so they might not actually make it. And then we actually have to pick up my parents at 3:50 for we have dinner reservations at 4:30 because my brother's taking my mom to the casino tonight, so I wanted to make sure that she was home and um, had enough time to relax before my brother picked her up. So, we have a wedding next month for um, close friends of ours that live um, just up the street from us, but our boys went to school together from second grade to eighth grade. They both went to different high schools.
Um, but Alex is getting married next month.
It's just so wild. Um, it was weird enough my son getting married, but now like all of his friends and going to their weddings. It's been and I think this is like his last close friend from like middle school, high school.
Um, Nick is married, Spencer is married.
Um, yeah, so Alex is probably like his So, he does have one friend in Florida that he was friends with since first grade that um, moved back and forth from Florida a couple of times, but Michael has stayed close with them.
Um, he is still in school to get his pilot's license, so Jared is not married yet. Um, but he's he's like the only one, but he's living his life and doing all the things. So, it's very weird to be at this stage in life where you're you're watching all of these little ones that you remember as little, they're not so little anymore. But, so anyway, Alex's wedding is a formal event and my daughter-in-law and I were looking at [clears throat] the invitation and everything the other day and um yeah.
I need a floor-length, so the invitation is very specific, floor-length summer dress for this wedding. So, the ceremony starts at a mansion and then we go to um a mocktail hour followed by a reception and then there's even an after-party.
And I have got to find a dress and I'm probably going to have to have it hemmed because I am so short.
Um so I saw some things at Marshalls yesterday and I was like, I don't really know, I'm not really sure what I'm looking for.
Um I saw some blacks and browns, but the invitation did say think summer hues.
So, I was thinking like dusty rose. Um I got to stay away from purple cuz that's lilac is the the wedding colors.
So, I'm going to go to Marshalls and see if I can find anything. I also need to start looking at bathing suits. They didn't really have any yesterday.
Um they had all two-pieces, which was not really great. But, I'm going to start looking at some dresses. So, I will do my shopping video on the other channel.
And then I'm I'm to go to the Dollar Tree. I need um like some disposable sheet pans to put under my grill.
My oil is still kind of like ending up on my grill and we have that Trex um porch and my husband's like not thrilled that we're getting grease and oil on the plasticky type material.
So, I am going to do a shopping for me kind of day, which I don't often do.
But, I'm also trying to just give myself Directional would have been good there, my friend. Um I'm just trying to give myself a little more grace and understanding than I typically would have. Um the fact that I am technically up five-ish pounds. I know a lot of you have [clears throat] opinions on the shot and the fact that I didn't take it and that's the reason why. I really don't think I've been definitely eating more than normal.
And again, I know that a lot of you are going to think it's because of the shot.
I just feel like I need to start figuring out how I'm going to be doing this long-term.
And long-term, like I said last week, will be stretching out my shot and I've got to figure out how my mind is going to work with that. Um cuz I have eaten more like junk this week. I had ice cream.
And I have to just make myself not bring these things into my house.
So, I am trying to mentally figure out how I'm going to be navigating that long-term and that's fine.
I am not mad at myself. It just In the past, things were so different. I would have gone off the rails. I would have been like beating myself up over this, putting like so much guilt on myself, blaming myself for all of these things.
And I know that this is just life. This is part of the disease that I've been suffering from for decades. Um obesity.
And just because I have lost 80 lb doesn't mean that I no longer have the disease, you know? If an alcoholic or a drug addict is an addict, they're an addict no matter how long they're in recovery, no matter how long they're clean or sober for.
And um I feel like many of us are food sober at this point. And it um it is a long-term addiction, and it is a long-term recovery. And we will be in recovery for the rest of our lives. And I know that and I understand that. And eating some ice cream or having some french fries or whatever the case may be doesn't mean that you fell off the wagon, it just means that we're navigating this in a whole new world. But I do have to say that just being able to talk it out is a whole different aspect for me. Where before um I I know many of you will be able to understand that um the the shame and the food shame that came with the obesity was so dramatic, and it was kind of traumatizing.
You get into this point where you're just so ashamed, and you you can't talk about it.
Being able to get to a place I can talk about it is very different and it's very therapeutic. Um being able to come on here and tell you guys, "Hey, I had some ice cream this week. Um more than once."
And be okay with it and not feel like I have to hide in the closet about it or eat in the closet or you guys all know.
You all know where I'm coming from because many of you have probably been there or you wouldn't be on this journey with me.
Um so, you know, it is what it is.
This is life and this is part of navigating all of this.
It's an interesting journey to say the least.
And I learn something new about myself and about obesity and weight loss and maintenance and all of the things every single day. And I wouldn't change it for the world.
Finding a parking spot at Marshalls is always fun though. Um do you guys have Marshalls and TJ Maxx near you? And I'm curious which one you like better because my daughter-in-law is a TJ Maxx fan. So much so that my grandson says TJ Maxx now. And um we went shopping for my daughter-in-law and he kept saying TJ Maxx, TJ Maxx. I don't really like TJ Maxx. I do find a little bit of a difference. Maybe it's the setup of the store, I don't know.
So, I prefer Marshalls.
Um but I'm curious. Do you guys have TJ Maxx and Marshalls near you and do you prefer one over the other?
I prefer Marshalls. So, I'm going to finish my breakfast. So, I've got some Core Power. Um this is 26 g of protein, 170 calories. And then just because I don't know how long I'm going to be out, like I It's 10:02 right now. My husband and my son have some plans. So, I'm not rushing. I do have a Built peanut butter. I'm only really loving I mean, I I don't love anything anymore. Peanut butter and the chocolate brownie. Those are the two that I like. I've tried other ones, not really a fan. But, I'm going to put this in my pocket and I'll have that in case I need something later. And I'm going to have my protein shake so that I don't get hungry while shopping, because we all know what happens when you get hungry while shopping. So, I come prepared 90% of the time now when I leave the house, I have something with me in case I get hungry, peckish, need a snack, any of those things. Um So, yeah, guys, that's going to do it for today. Again, if you are a mom, grandma, aunt, acting as a mom, dad in place of a mom, any of those things, I hope that you had a fantastic Mother's Day.
I am going to go start my Mother's Day festivities, shopping.
Go check out the other channel, because I will show you if I get anything. Might try on a few things. I don't know, but I will take you guys with me for that if I do.
Thank you so much for being here. If you are new, I would love it if you would subscribe, stick around, like, comment, share, do all of the things. I will see you guys on the next one. Bye, friends.
