[00:00:03]A blur, a whoosh, nothing but a trail of dust.

[00:00:08]Tito took one step, [music] then another, then another.

[00:00:13]But who made it to the finish line first?

[00:00:17]>> [music] >> Pip Splash Studios, every little thing [singing] shines. [music] In a bright and busy meadow, there lived a hare named Dash. Dash was fast, faster than the wind, faster [music] than a sneeze, faster than just about anything you can think of.

[00:00:43]And Dash knew it. One afternoon, Dash spotted someone he had never really noticed before.

[00:00:52]Tito the tortoise, walking [music] slowly down the path. Dash couldn't help himself. Hey, how about a race? Or would that take you, oh, I don't know, three whole [music] weeks? Tito didn't hurry.

[00:01:06]He simply adjusted his little glasses, looked [music] up at Dash, and spoke.

[00:01:12]>> I will race you, Dash. First one to the big oak tree at the end of the meadow wins. This is going to be the easiest [music] race of my entire life.

[00:01:22]The next morning, every single animal in the meadow came out to watch.

[00:01:30]And they were all excited.

[00:01:32]Dash was gone before anyone could blink.

[00:01:35]A blur, a whoosh, nothing but a trail of dust.

[00:01:39]Tito took one step, then another, then another.

[00:01:45]>> [music] >> By the time Dash looked back, Tito was just a tiny speck. Dash laughed.

[00:01:52]I'll just rest for one tiny minute. Tito won't be here for hours.

[00:01:57]Pip watched from a branch above.

[00:01:59]>> [music] >> She couldn't just sit there.

[00:02:02]She flew down and chirped right in Dash's ear. Nothing.

[00:02:07]>> [music] >> She flapped her wings in his face.

[00:02:09]Nothing. Dash swatted her away, rolled over, and snored.

[00:02:16]Meanwhile, nobody told Tito to stop.

[00:02:20]Past the very tree where Dash was snoring, one steady step at a time, never faster, never slower, just forward. And when Dash finally opened his eyes, the sun had moved, the shadows had shifted, and the path ahead was completely empty.

[00:02:43]What? What's happening? The race! On the other hand, the crowd saw him coming.

[00:02:49]First, a gasp, then a cheer, then the loudest roar the meadow had ever, ever heard.

[00:02:57]The sound crashed through the trees like thunder, [music] and Dash's eyes flew wide open. He leapt up and ran, faster than he [music] had ever run in his life.

[00:03:09]But as Dash reached the finish line, one small, >> [music] >> quiet, steady tortoise foot crossed it first. The meadow exploded.

[00:03:19]Dash stood bent over, [music] gasping. He stared at the ground. Then Tito walked over and held out his hand.

[00:03:28]Good race, Dash. You're still the fastest, but fast doesn't always win.

[00:03:33]Dash looked up, and for the very first time, saw Tito differently. [music] He took Tito's hand and shook it, and meant it. Up on Tito's shell, >> [music] >> Pip did the tiniest, happiest, most spectacular little victory dance [music] anyone had ever seen.

[00:03:54]Even Dash laughed. [music] So, what did you learn from this story?

[00:03:59]Being fast is not enough. Keep going, steady and strong, >> [music] >> because slow and steady wins the race.
