Does Jamaica Value Foreigners Over Its Own CultureAdded:
And yet, despite all of this extraordinary global reach, Jamaican people still behave as though them after get validation from somewhere else, somewhere outside of Jamaica.
And that contradiction, in my opinion, was kind of laid wide open for everybody to see, right?
Everybody to see during the spectacle thrown in this internet personality, IShowSpeed, and his visit to Jamaica.
Again, let me make it clear. The issue is not about the young man visiting Jamaica because Jamaican people, myself included, will welcome visitors every every day, 24 hours a day. Jamaica's tourism, in fact, the industry depends heavily on global attention and engagement.
Nor is the issue about him being popular because in today's digital economy, follower counts translate into influence, visibility, and for the people who are on the tourist business, money.
So, the issue is what Jamaicans revealed about themselves in the process. Again, follow me closely.
