New Hampshire's SB540 bill, passed by the state legislature and sent to the governor, would allow homeowners to install plug-in solar systems with a 1.2 kW AC limit, prohibiting utilities from charging additional fees or requiring permission for installation; however, the bill defers detailed regulations to the National Electric Code (NEC), which currently lacks specific rules for plug-in solar technology and is not scheduled for update until 2029, potentially delaying implementation until that time.

Plug-In Solar is Coming to New Hampshire追加:
New Hampshire home owners, plug-in solar is coming to you.
Legislators in New Hampshire just passed SB 540 and sent it to the desk of the governor, which will allow for plug-in solar systems to be installed by home owners in New Hampshire. Following along with other states, they have a limit set at 1.2 kilowatts AC. So, it looks like that's what going to be what most of the country ends up being. Their law also does have provisions there to prevent the utility from charging additional fees or requiring customers to get permission before they actually install the system. Now, the bill actually doesn't have a lot of state regulations or details in it, either. New Hampshire kind of ceded control to what they're calling a nationally recognized organization. Basically, it's the NEC they're looking for, the National Electric Code. Now, the NEC doesn't have any rules about plug-in solar because it's brand new and a new iteration is not going to come out until 2029. So, if that stays when the governor signs it, it's probably likely that people in in New Hampshire won't be able to install plug-in solar until 2029 when rules are established in the NEC.
