Is the New Map Water Deep Enough For This?
Added:Welcome back to the channel and today I want to try to go the speed of sound or faster using only buoyancy blocks as my method of propulsion because there is now a water section of a sandbox uh style map in Trailmakers and I got this comment when I showcased this map by Dmeister Million. How deep is the water?
Can you retry breaking the sound barrier with buoyancy thing? Now, I tried to do something like this in the uh high seas map a while back, and oddly enough, I cannot find the video. I tried searching for it, and I don't know. I don't know where it is, but I did a video on it at some point. I remember doing it, and so does this person in my comments. Now, the question is, is this actually deeper? Um cuz it looks like it's pretty deep. I'm going down at 32 km an hour right now, very, very slowly. And uh we still It's getting darker. Oh, there we go. to now. There's the bottom. So, this doesn't feel I don't know. It It feels pretty deep in one on one hand, but also I feel like I need more to break the sound barrier on the other hand. But, uh I think that's going to be the purpose of this video is finding out is this deep enough to propel myself past the sound barrier. Also, we have more buoyancy based blocks than we did back then. Back then, I was using these things. And I don't know, this honestly might still be the best option cuz we also have these which I guess are the same hitbox.
So now the I guess the question is let's find out right now. Um if I have two of these, they are the same hitbox. Which one do you think uh goes up to the surface faster? Let's see. Okay. Well, we weren't attached to one of them. So I have no idea what the answer to that question just is is now. Yeah, cuz these uh don't have an attachment point. How do I attach these?

Okay, so we got that. Oh, wait. These probably have different aerodynamics.
Aerodynamics on this side. See, that's orange.
And then we use this.
See, this is clearly red. So, I feel like we got to do another test here.
These have much better attachment points, but let's um let's give these identical aerodynamics on the top end.
There we go. So now these are for all intents and purposes completely identical in the direction of travel as you can see as far as aerodynamics goes.
And our direction of travel is going to be up. So let's see if these have different buoyancy. I I would expect they would have the same. I feel like the buoyancy is just volume based no matter what buoyancy block you choose, but I don't know that. So let's uh let's find out here. Exit anyway.
Well, that was a huge difference in perform. What?
Why did that one Why is that one so much worse? Weight.
I'm saying the word weight. So, this is 12 kg for this area. Ah, this is 12 kg for this area. So this is twice as heavy. So that's a factor. Should have looked into that sooner. Um, so 12 kg for like a 8x 4x4. Yeah. So then this is also 12 kg.
So I think it's still large pontoons are the best bang bang for your buck as far as weight to buoyancy ratio. Yeah. cuz everything that is um a volume of this amount is 3 kg honestly. Oh, that's weird. Even these are 3 kg. But scaling it up, it does not scale weight wise. All right, how fast are we going to be able to get? So, we're probably going to want a tail for stability. And now that I'm thinking about it, our seat might want to be at the top because we want the buoyancy to be in the water as long as possible. So, we want the buoyancy to be at the bottom cuz even when a seat gets out of the water, we can still have pushing happening behind the seat. But if the seat is at the bottom, once the seat gets out of the water, all the buoyancy the buoyancy is going to be decreasing the the the closer the seat gets to the surface. So, seat goes on top. And then we just need to stack these like crazy.
Oh, that's not the way to do it. We also have a problem where like the longer I build this thing, the further away from the bottom we get, so the less time of traveling we the less distance of travel we get to build up speed before we break the surface.
Cuz once we break the surface, we stop accelerating. But it's going to be a we it's not it's not black and white like that cuz only part of us breaks the surface. It's just going to be a gradual deceleration. We're just going to slowly lose buoyancy as more and more buoyancy pieces get through the surface. [music] But and also I don't even know the answer to the question of is this even deeper than um the high seas map. I feel like the high seas map the problem is it doesn't have a very flat seabed. So you're just trying to find like the flattest point that you can. All right.
So how do I get down there quickly?
Let's just see what this does.
Oh yeah. I don't even have any aerodynamics on this thing and we already went like 200 almost 300 km an hour. Oh, what's going to happen now?

It was actually kind of fun to watch.
This is so buoyant. All right. Um, let's take care of our aerodynamics. All right. I think that's the simplest I can make it. It covers the entire hitbox. No more, no less, as you can see. And it is the most aerodynamic piece. So, here.
Let's save this and see how close our current thing gets us. The problem is uh we need to get down to the bottom quickly. So, I need to build myself like a a utility sub or wait. No, like literally wait.
This is not going nearly as fast as I expected, but it's something. Okay.
Going down that fast makes this seem not that deep anymore.
It's not that deep, man. Can I spawn this thing underground? Oh, let's see what happens.
This is not the way. All right, but we need to be as close to the ground as possible. There we go. [music] So, now we're in like a uh we got some decisions to make after cuz this is clearly not going to be it. Do we make ourselves longer in a single strand or do we spread out the buoyancy wider at the cost of more water resistance? And I just remembered that trailing arrow matters underwater. So, we need to actually add aerodynamics to the back of this thing, too, to optimize our uh performance. But, let's see what we get up to right now.
That was almost halfway there.
Look at this height that we're getting.
This is pretty epic. [music] I really want to see what happens when we stab the water with our own body here. Okay, here we go. How far we go? Go down.
A little over halfway it looked like.
Okay, so let's head back to spawn point.
So, let's make this thing a little bit longer. And I think we're going to get even almost more of a performance increase out of adding the tail onto this. All right, there we go. Now we got a tail. Let's save this as our new creation.
And I was at the surface and I still got up to like 500 plus. So, that's promising. All right, I'm going to take a wild guess and say we'll get to 800 800 km an hour with this thing. Lift it up. Get it as close to the bottom as physically possible. There we go. All right. Ready? 800. Let's see it.
That was over 1,000. This might happen.
I couldn't I remember I could not make this happen before. Look at this height.
This is insane. I can't believe this actually might happen. I thought this was going to be a fail episode of just trying and failing. Are we still going up? Yeah, we just started going down just now. I cannot believe how much how much extra height we got. I didn't feel like it should be that much. This doesn't seem like double the height.
This seems like more than double the height, but we only just got double the uh the performance.
So, I don't know. The adding more buoyancy I don't think is going to get us that much. We got back up to 800 on that return there because this time we had an extreme change in not just the length but also the aerodynamic efficiency by adding the tail on there.
The tail's already there. We can't make that better. All we can do is add length. And I think that's going to get us a lot less return than what we just saw. But also this is the longer we make ourselves the higher our seat get like the the less vertical we have you know before we start losing buoyancy and then the weight that we're adding to this becomes resistance when we get out of the water. So I've just added oh my goodness where Oh no that's the build box I think not the bottom I hope so this is where our bottom used to be.
Now it is all the way down here. This is not the bottom, is it?
No. Okay, good. I think this could be it. We only need 200 extra kilometers an hour. I increased the length by so much.
This might be easy. Is this going to be a trail makers first? I don't know if anyone else after I tried the high seas thing. I don't know if anyone else tried it, but this could be a Trailmakers first.

Underwater buoyancy at that. I mean, I've I've used air buoyancy before with balloons and stuff, but I'm talking about underwater. All right, here it goes. Three, two, one, launch.
That's not good. That was like the same.
And this is definitely the longer one.
Oh no. Why was that the same? I suddenly went from we're definitely going to do this to this is this might be impossible now. We may have reached a cap. We may have actually reached a cap. I don't know what to do about this cuz the I feel like the more length I add, I just I'm not getting that much anymore because I'm starting so much closer to the surface with the with the length.
Back into the water.
We actually were we getting close to 1,000 just going down. Oh, we're reaching an issue. Look at this. I cannot push this up. Hold on.
Uh oh. Yeah. See, we're at 1,000. I can't I got to I just want to build I want to enter build mode. Oh, this is kind of epic.
This is really epic. Why is that so epic? That was cool. All right. I'm expecting not much result from this, but Oh, yeah. See, we're getting close to the uh maximum of the build bubble here.
So, I guess I might as well just max it out and see if that gets us into 1100 territory. All right. Outside build bubble. Although I do feel like we should be able to take the whole thing and push it up to the upper side of the build bubble. All right, let's take whatever distance we've just added. All right, now we're outside the build bubble again. All right, there we go.
Let's see if I can even spawn in this higher cuz now like my build bubble is centered here. Oops.
So, in order for this to work, I've got to put it up. But where's the ground?
Ah!
Ah! I broke the sound barrier. You saw it. There was There was a sonic boom there. Where am I? Am I under Oh, I'm under the ground. I glitched under.
Yeah, this is a nightmare. This is a nightmare scenario to work with. All right, I found the ground.
So, I got to do this, but I think it's going to stop me outside build bubble.
See, this is a problem. It won't let me put it up anymore.
Oh, I actually literally can't spawn it in because it's too big. You know what I have to do? I've got to go above the bottom of the surface at the bottom. I got to go above the bottom of the ocean and try to figure out where to spawn it in so that the bottom ends up being at the bottom. I think you I think you know what I'm trying to say. I'm not saying it very well. All right, so I'm here at the bottom of the ocean. So, I'm just going to swim up and guesstimate where I can safely spawn in. I will have some wiggle room to move it up, I think. But I'm going to go with right here. Let me see what happens. Okay, even just spawning in outside Bilbo. So, I go down, I go down, I go down, I go down, go down, I go down, I go down. Oh, did I go too high? Where's the Where's the ocean floor? Did I miss the ocean floor? I'm confused. Let's just spawn in and see what happens.
Ah, and then it spawns me. Where am I?
Spawns me way up here. I was so hopeful for a little bit there when we broke a thousand. I don't even Did we break a thousand in the other video? I don't know. I can't find it. So, I really think I got to I'm going to try it. But I really think if I spread out my buoyancy into two pontoons, two pontoons wide, I think we're going to slow ourselves down with the um hydro dynamic friction more than any gains we're going to get from extra buoyancy.
So, I think this is one of the ones that got us up to a th00and. So, guess what?
Do I just like do a little bit of this?
Now we have double the buoyancy. Are we attached?
I don't know. Let's try this. So, this one I should have enough build bubble to bring the bottom of it up here. Perfect.
All right, let's see. We're going to break 1,000. There we go.
I feel like we've reached a hard cap.
It's like 1,60. It's the same. We have double the buoyancy, but we also have double the friction. I think we've reached like this this limit and we're not going to be able to get enough out of it. I mean, but we've accomplished something pretty incredible here with the height that we're getting out of pure buoyancy. You know what? I got an idea. This is like a one time this this is pretty much like a one time use only because I'm not going to be able to spawn this back in down here. So, what I'm going to do instead is rebuild the single strand one. Taking the one that I could Is this the one that I could spawn? No, this is the one that's too big. This is the one I could spawn in.
So, here's what we do. Where's the Where's the bottom of the ocean? Wait, I am confused.
Let's delete it. Out of build mode. All right, here I am.
Wait, why where's the bottom of the ocean? Like, how come it's not spawning it at the bottom anymore? Ah, here we go. That explains it. Yeah. So, here's the new strategy. Bring this up above the bottom of the ocean. Outside build bubble.
Wait, I can't even I can't even do this one. Something's not working here. I think I found a method.
So, I can swim up, spawn it in, check where it is. If it's not where I want it to be, then I delete it, and then repeat. So, now I'm up here. We spawn it in. Now I travel all the way down. See how much farther down it is. Now I can Now I want to No. Oh, I messed up. We're close. I think this is close enough.
We're like right there. So, now I'm just going to move this up until it tells me I'm at the end of the build bubble.
Wait, is this above the ocean? Okay, see, now that's a problem. All right, I guess we're just going to keep it. See, this is why it's this is why it's a hard cap because the more we add, the quicker the top of our uh craft comes out of the water, which means those buoyancy blocks cease to do anything anymore. They only do things for the amount of time that they're under the water. So the more we add, the less time the top ones are under the water, meaning that we're just canceling it out. So I think we actually did find a cap. But I'm I'm going to do I set out to do this experiment here and I'm going to do it. This is like a one time use only because I will not be able to spawn this creation back in because it'll not fit inside the build bubble appropriately. We're just going to go until it tells me I can't anymore. But we're literally instantly going to be coming out of the water. So, I don't think this has I don't think this makes sense. All right. Outside build bubble.
Did we I don't think we went through Oh, we did go through the ocean floor. So, we got to definitely not do that. All right. I think I've built this thing literally as long as I can. We're pretty much at the surface. So, let's see how much speed this gets me. I'm guessing 1,60.
All right. Three, two, one, go.
Oh, it's even worse. We've literally passed a point of of uh peak performance where we're we're now diminishing our performance. Is this an impossible challenge? Feel like we've got so close.
I didn't save the one that got Wait, no.
This is the one that got close, right?
But we also doubled up that one and that didn't work. So, what other options do we have left? So, this one.
Yeah. 1,63. So, let's just do an experiment. I'm going to triple this one up and see if that's better or worse or the same. I kind of feel like it's going to be the same. All right. So, now we got triple. So, let's see. Do we get 1,60 still?
It's the same exact thing. Triple the buoyancy. I've got a weird experiment to try. I mean, it's not really weird. It's simple. I'm going to try removing some buoyancy from the triple wide. See, just maybe we passed maybe we passed the point of the best uh amount. I don't know. So, is this the triple wide? This is the triple wide. Now, I'm just going to cut out a chunk like this. All right.
Now, let's see if this gets us. It was like 1063 that I was seeing. Let's see if this gets us any better or worse.
That was a little bit better. We got in the 1080s that time. I think it was better. So, we definitely went too far.
I think there's still a chance for improvement then. I think there's I think there's a we I think there's a Goldilock zone of um the amount of buoyancy blocks that you want. So, now I don't know if the triple is hurting us or helping us. I got an idea though. and remove that much. All right, looks good. Let's see where this gets us.
I saw 1090.
That was our closest to,00 yet. All right, so now what I want to do is remove Well, let's save this right now as our best version yet. But now, let's uh remove one of them. All right, now we got two rows. So, I saw 1090 with three rows at this identical length. Two rows gets us 1090. So I feel like doesn't matter widthwise. It seems like it's irrelevant.
The buoyancy to drag ratio seems like 1 one.
So now we need to mess. I guess we just have to dial in the length to see what's the highest speed we can get. I guess I might as well go down to a single strand of this. Just confirm that that still gets me 1090. All right, we got single strand.
1090. Okay, so it's literally the same no matter how wide we are. So now let's remove some more until something different happens. Let's go by 10. So we got 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10. All right.
Does this beat 1090?
I want to see 1100 here.
I saw like 1080. Let's add five back.
We're definitely not breaking the sound barrier, but I want to see what's the best we can do. 1 2 3 4 5. All right, here we go.
I think that was still like 1090 something.
I feel like that's the cap. I really do feel like that's the cap. I don't know.
I I don't have any ideas on how we could do anything differently and get better results. I mean, look at the hype that we've achieved.
That's still crazy with buoyancy only.
But man, when we broke 1,000, I thought it was happening. Like for sure we had so much more room to add buoyancy, but the way it works, it's just you're either adding more drag or you're reducing the time that the uh buoyant the distance that the buoyancy stays in the water.
So there's just always this diminishing return. You know, you know, if the map is if if we had deeper water, this would happen. Like we we have not reached anywhere near its acceleration potential. I don't think we're like instantly coming out of the water and losing our acceleration. Imagine if we had like a mile deep of water.
Imagine what that could do for buoyancy.
Who chose the depth of this map?
Why is it so shallow? It should be a sandbox distance or the the test zone distance deep. Only then will we get buoyancy sonic boom. But unfortunately today we do not get buoyancy sonic boom.
We just get buoyancy very very fast. We got we got zoom but not boom. I don't know. Unless there's something I'm overlooking that uh could do it outside of glitching. Obviously, if you have a zero drag glitch, then you just defeat the whole p purpose of the challenge. I think the whole purpose of a Sonic Boom challenge is overcoming the drag. Um but I don't think I I can't think of a more efficient design than this.
