Strom masterfully deconstructs the "false equivalence" trap by grounding racial discourse in systemic power dynamics rather than individual intent. It is a necessary intellectual reality check for those who mistake historical ignorance for objective fairness.

Jake Paul Just Gave the WORST Take of His CareerAdded:
Remember this? War is raging in Iran.
We're praying We're praying for all the soldiers and troops.
>> that you're praying, but How about all the kids that died when the USA hit the the towers? It broke my heart. That is the Oh. In what ways have you grown closer to Jesus? I serve a righteous God.
And that is why we say our prayers.
And we're all His children.
But when I say children, I mean like the Holy Blessed Trinity, which is why I hold the Bible.
But we serve a just God.
And I rest easy in knowing that.
He's sovereign, but he's just.
And so let the Lord handle that.
We have to protect all men in America.
Especially all white men in America.
Those are the boys that we care about in this country.
America is built on their backs.
Yes.
Cuz they are the ones who mattered most.
Don't let anyone disenfranchise you because you're a young man, especially a young white male man. Don't ever let anyone talk down to you. You we need strong men out there. And remember Erica Kirkus' reaction?
>> Every morning I wake up to a new headline lying about me.
I have comedians dressing up in whiteface.
I have people saying I'm not fit to be CEO, and I have Candace Owens claiming I murdered my husband. And the list goes on and on and on. The whiteface line.
As we have covered over and over and over and over again, is a complete farce. But leave it to this guy, Jake Paul, to try and even the score that, to be clear, does not need to be evened. Here he is with fellow member of MAGA and comedian Theo Von, where he is plotting his revenge. I want to ask you something because >> [clears throat] >> I've been over the last couple of days calling um makeup artists and I was going to do a response to this and like go and do like the full on darker? Yeah.
Mhm. And and do it and just do it back because why not? Yeah. Like are we on the same playing field? Like I think if you if there's a way to do it Oh, this isn't even even a sentence. But if there's a way to do it, I've been here many times. If there's a way to do it I think yeah. I don't see in color, I see in truth.
>> And take a wild guess who would confront him over this.
Fellow supporter of the 45th and 47th president of the United States of America, that would be rap artist Waka Flocka Flame, who, objectively speaking, has one of the most entertaining videos I have ever seen with a signer at his show who he clearly does not know is a signer.
But I digress. Waka Flocka, for some reason, was on Clavicular's Kick Stream and this is how it went. I don't think it's disrespectful. I think it's funny. Hold on. Hold on, Lil.
I want to educate you, bro, cuz y'all hear about some [ __ ] you making jokes about. Bro, folks' grandmama may experience that torture in it.
You know what I'm saying, bro? So, ain't nobody experience torture with no white face. But a black face would. You're a more a more serious guy?
>> I have to pause here. Look, I have a lot of critiques, okay, of Waka Flocka. I have critiques of anybody who would align with a fascist.
I have critiques of someone who would headlined a MAGA festival. But imagine trying to educate someone on this very topic like a Jake Paul where it is layered. I mean, we are dealing with oppression, systemic racism, slavery, minstrel shows, and the response is >> [snorts] >> "You're just serious, bro." Like what the [ __ ] I'm friends with blacks, whites, purples, Mexicans, all of the above. Girls, boys, Indians, all of that.
>> Did he say purples?
Who is purple?
You might get a black and blue and it's purple, but what exactly does he mean by purples?
Purple is not a skin color. And what Paul is tapping into is two things, okay. The first is this. And so, color blindness fundamentally misses the mark by erasing something that's important to people's self-identity and people's self-love. Um and that's not the way to navigate through relationships, it's not the way to navigate through building community, but rather seeing me more fully and understanding um the lens through which I see the world or at least trying, making an attempt to do that, um is what matters to me.
>> In addition, I would like to point Jake Paul to stop race-based hate, which printed a 2004 study found that when people felt the threat of appearing racist, they often overcompensate by sharing about perceived non-racist actions such as having an ex-friend or liking food from a certain culture, but it's a myth that proximity to blackness immunizes white people from doing racist things. They continue, "It's also important to note there are degrees of racism. While having a black friend could mean you are less racist than someone who would never have a black friend, it still doesn't automatically mean you're not racist, that you're not participating in or upholding racist systems, or that you are allowed to say whatever you want about or to black people." And of course, here is the kicker. At the very end of this, for someone like Jake Paul spewing [ __ ] like this. Basically, if you or someone ever says they aren't racist because they know someone who is ex ethnic group, that person needs to understand that statement is not the free pass they think it is because that is exactly what he was trying to do. He was trying to get a free pass, and he really thought that Waka Flocka would go with it, and when he didn't, that is when he tried really spinning the entire conversation, gaslighting Waka Flocka in a flame to say, "You know what the problem is?
You're just too serious." More from the exchange.
>> How am I serious? You don't even know me. Would it have been funny for you, bro? I swear to god, bro. Jake Paul, bro, you got a good brand, [ __ ] That blackface [ __ ] kind of [ __ ] Any [ __ ] that's black, bro, excuse me for saying [ __ ] Talk about you. Any [ __ ] that say you Any black person will tell you if they say it to you, "Nah, bro, that's a joke." They lame as [ __ ] and they That's what we call, bro, you're lying, bro. You selling You know that [ __ ] ain't funny. All right, y'all. I love it. I got to keep this moving.
>> Uh, they rushed this conversation to its conclusion. Prior to reaching that point, this went down. Well, what's the what's the what's the issue? If if Drewski First of all, comedy should be allowed in the world, right?
Do you believe in that? Do you believe in comedy? Oh, 100%. Okay. So, but that's actually more on you than it's a fool you cuz you said comedy should be accepted cuz cuz black that black face [ __ ] is not comedy. It's disrespectful to a culture of people that y'all got dark skin. But, so do you think white face is disrespectful? It's It's a double standard. Everyone should be able to make fun of everyone. I just like to have conversations that challenge the mind. What if black face would Yeah, but I think But again, we can like we can go into like all of this. Like people are oppressed different you know, races, all of this stuff.
>> There's a lot here, okay? The first is this total cop-out of I just like to have conversations that change the mind. My dude, you had a podcast Well, when you did, you hosted Pauly D, Adin Ross, Patrick Bet-David, Bert Kreischer, Jorge Masvidal, the Nelk Boys, Dwight Howard, to name a few. I mean, stop the BS. The second is that he would refer to friends that he has that are non-white and downplaying Waka Flocka trying to teach him about being serious.
Basically knocking the rapper down a few pegs because he didn't go along with Jake Paul's entire stick, which to be clear, no one should. Jake Paul?
Maga? [clears throat] Yeah. Theo Von Maga?
>> Uh-huh. Uh Joe Rogan Maga?
>> Yeah.
We we we spoke on Theo Von last week.
>> Uh-huh.
Speak on Jake Paul.
And let's [clears throat] speak on all you white people that's trying to tell me keep the same energy Uh-huh. when we start doing black face. Man, just go ahead and handle your business, man.
>> Yeah. We don't give a [ __ ] >> Yeah.
Been here, done that. I'm immune to it, numb to it, molded by it. Yes.
[ __ ] don't give a [ __ ] Yeah.
>> First of all, you [ __ ] aren't funny.
Not at all. See, here's the thing about Drew Ski funny. You just You just looking for a reason to be disrespectful. Mhm. Still not landing.
Didn't Jake Paul come out and do the little Drew Ski thing? Did he do it already? I don't know if that It looked like it was AI. I think it's AI. But even when I came out and did it, I mean, you know, it don't look like Drew Ski to me.
>> Nah. Like a [ __ ] named Tanner.
You still look like a cracker even in blackface.
>> Yeah.
Who care Nobody cares.
I Is your jaw Ain't his jaw supposed to be wired shut? Ain't you supposed to be shutting the [ __ ] up?
>> Yeah. Then you just get your [ __ ] rocked. Third, and this is just for Waka Flocka.
My dude, this is your flock.
This is your tent.
These are your people.
This is how they think.
I mean, how can you see what you support?
And hand in hand, you go to the polls and say we're doing this together.
I mean, it I would hope there is some recognition here that Jake Paul is not necessarily the outlier, but he is actually symptomatic of the MAGA movement. I mean, look, just something to consider. Back to Paul, as explained by Claire Corbould, an associate professor of history at Deakin University, the backlash for Drew Ski's whiteface parody of conservative white women ignores the difference in power dynamics, wrote Complex. Blackface minstrelsy, which emerged in the 1830s, just as slavery was beginning to disappear, punches down as a form of mass entertainment designed to degrade black people, while whiteface punches up to critique power, privilege, and entitlement. From BET.com, Druski is punching up. Druski is punching up at a political archetype that currently holds enormous cultural and institutional influence. Blackface punches down at a group that has been systemically marginalized for generations. That is not a subjective opinion about whose feelings matter more. That is the difference between satire and slur, between parody and harm. Paul asking, are we on the same playing field that Theophan is ironically the most revealing part of the whole exchange.
The answer is no, and the fact that he had asked suggests he knows it, too. As we sign off, please, if you can, become a YouTube channel member to keep this channel afloat.
