During respiratory virus outbreaks, vaccination campaigns targeting priority populations (children, elderly, pregnant women, and those with comorbidities) are critical for reducing hospitalizations and mortality. In Santa Catarina, while RSV vaccination for pregnant women achieved 91.62% coverage, flu vaccination rates remained low at 35.39%, highlighting the importance of sustained public health messaging and accessible vaccination programs to protect vulnerable populations during seasonal respiratory virus increases.

AO VIVO: Balanço Geral Criciúma | 20/05/2026 | NDTV RECORDAdded:
Catarina, thank you very much for your kind company. We're going to update you on the main information from our state, from the [music] batch to the south, from east to west, also live on NDPlay, starting here in the capital to talk about the mullet harvest, right? After all, we've been in the middle of the fishing season for 20 days now, but the official panel that monitors fishing quotas still hasn't been released by the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture, right? It is through this system that fishermen, as well as the authorities themselves, can then monitor in real time how much has already been caught during the season. The panel needs to be updated throughout the fishing season and will serve to monitor compliance with quotas by fishing modality.
Monitoring also helps in decision-making, including shutting down the activity if pre-established limits are reached. We need to wait. Nothing so far. We're going to Cristimúa, in southern Santa Catarina, with João Paulo Messer, who will bring us live details about that region. Hi, Messer.
Hi, Mer.
Hello, good morning, Apolito. Good morning everybody.
An urgent warning for parents in Santa Catarina, throughout the state. With the arrival of cold weather, cases of severe acute respiratory syndrome have skyrocketed among children. This year alone, the state has already recorded more than 100 cases of the disease in children aged 0 to 9 years. Of that total, 352 required ICU admission and, unfortunately, 16 deaths were confirmed. Given this very worrying scenario, the State Department of Health is making an appeal.
Vaccination is necessary. So far, less than 23% of children in the priority group have been immunized. The number is far too low.
Remember that the vaccine is free and available throughout the state for children aged 6 months to 6 years, as well as the elderly, pregnant women, and people with comorbidities.
Now we're going to Blumenau with Rodrigo Vieira. Good morning, Rodrigo.
Hey João, hugs to you! Good morning. This is news that interests many cities here in Santa Catarina, including Blumenau. The Court of Auditors of Santa Catarina has set a deadline of 30 days per month for 13 cities in the state to present plans focused on public policies that serve the homeless population. Besides Blumenau, the municipalities are Balneário Camboriú, Biguaçu, Brusque, Chapecó, Criciúma, Florianópolis, Itajaí, Joinville, Lajes, Palhoça, São José, and Tubarão. Cities will have to present data on planning, governance, data production, and the sufficiency of the service network within the Unified Social Assistance System and also the SUS ( Unified Health System). This recommendation is the result of an operational audit conducted by the Special Audits Directorate of the Court of Auditors here in the state. Now, live from Itajaí, Moisés Tuer has some information for us here on Balanço Geral. Good morning, Moses.
Hi, Rodrigo. Hugs for you. Good morning to everyone as well. Balneário Pissarras has a new acting mayor. Doctor Fabiano José Alves took office this Tuesday after the arrest of then- mayor Thiago Balti, who was under investigation by the Gaeco (Special Action Group to Combat Organized Crime). Balt was arrested in Brasília during Operation Regalo, which is investigating suspected bribery involving public contracts for construction and urbanization of the northern coast of the municipality.
According to the Public Prosecutor's Office of Santa Catarina, there is evidence of structured collusion between businesspeople and public officials, involving the payment of bribes and lists linked to city hall contracts. After the custody hearing in the federal capital, Thiago Balt was transferred to Santa Catarina and arrived in the early hours of the morning at the Caianduba penitentiary complex, here in Tajaí, where he remains in pre-trial detention.
In an official statement, the Municipality of Balneário Pissarras reported that it has cooperated with the investigations since the beginning of the operation and reinforced its commitment to transparency. The new acting mayor, Fabiano Alves, had been vice-mayor since 2021 and has worked in the medical field in the municipality for years. Now we're going to Chapecó, Eduardo Prado, with today's highlights. Good morning.
Good morning, Moses. Good morning, colleagues.
Good morning, Santa Catarina. Look, today the Civil Police of Santa Catarina, with support from teams from São Paulo, carried out Operation Guardian EPROC.
Objective: to combat a criminal organization specializing in online scams. The investigation began in Itapiranga, in the far west of Santa Catarina state, after a victim reported receiving messages from criminals posing as lawyers. They were asking for payments for the supposed release of court-ordered funds, using the fake lawyer scam. In total, 12 search and seizure warrants were executed in cities in the state and also in São Paulo. The police seized electronic devices, documents, and other materials that may aid in the investigation. According to the Civil Police, the group used official documents extracted from the EPROC system to deceive victims and demand undue payments. The investigations are now focused on identifying all those possibly involved in the scheme.
Now we're going to Joinville. There's Sabrina Aguiar. Good morning, welcome.
Good morning. Good morning everybody. Our topic is economics.
Soybean exports to China have accelerated cargo handling at the port of São Francisco do Sul, the largest in Santa Catarina. In April alone, 789,000 tons of grain were shipped, a 44% increase compared to the same period last year. With this, the port's total cargo handling reaches 15 million tons in the month. Exports accounted for more than half of the entire operation. Besides soybeans, steel products and fertilizers also helped boost the numbers, you see?
To keep up with the growth, the port expanded its infrastructure with three new storage warehouses, is preparing a new access route to allow the simultaneous operation of two ships, increasing the terminal's logistical capacity and efficiency, in addition to the major project that we know is underway, the dredging of Babitonga Bay, which should affect not only the port of São Francisco do Sul, but also Itapuá.
Let's now find out a little about the weather forecast with Gabriela Senzuk.
Good morning to you and to everyone who is watching Balanço Geral this Wednesday. The day continues with sunshine across the state, influenced by the cold, dry air prevailing here.
Temperatures rise slightly in the early afternoon, becoming more pleasant in the eastern region. In the north we also have sun, but with a few more clouds. Furthermore, the sea remains rough between the southern coast and the greater Florianópolis area, but the lowest temperatures of the week are expected tomorrow. I'll tell you more in a little while on the weather forecast. It's up to you, Polito.
Polito.
Thanks, Gabi. There's a live image from Santinho, where today they caught almost 1000 mullet. Just this morning in the sunny state of Santa Catarina, even with the low temperature, it's a lovely day. 18th. A big hug to the Santinho crew who are just waiting for the mullet harvest. You now have your local programming.
Now the image is of our wonderful South, one of the gateways to Nova Veneza, there in Caravajo, Cézão Azul. It is now 11:38.
Good morning, I'm João Paulo Mestre and with our entire team, from now on we are here to keep you company, and a well-informed [musical] company, of course, with your participation and interaction always. Here you'll find opinions, here you'll find services provided. NDTV Record Crisilma is part of your daily life.
Thank you for being with us and for staying with us for almost 2 hours, right, until [music] 1:20. We 're all here together for lots of attractions. Speaking of which, we'll start by showing you some of today's main highlights. Today we are going to show the culture and tradition of the oxcart still preserved here in Tubarão. It's coming up in a little while here on Balanço Geral.
Yes, our [music] community was formed, not only our community, but the city of Tubarão itself, through the ox's neck [music] and the ox cart, right? Two men are accused of a scheme involving the theft and receiving of stolen electricity meters. Today is the day for formal employment contracts, and here at BG we're talking about opportunities.
Today we're going to learn about the history of volleyball in Forquilinha and how the sport changes the lives of many people in the city.
Our goal is to become the largest volleyball base in Santa Catarina. Okay?
We are here today with this many people behind us, seeking training.
The overall assessment is only just beginning.
Tune in to ndtv, join us until 1:20 [music] in the afternoon.
[music] This report about oxcarts is sensational, it's unmissable. Besides giving advice, I want to take this opportunity to challenge you.
Ox cart, do you have a picture with one? Look here, look at this image. What image?
Thing. Look, look at the size of those oxen, right? Look at these real machines, all that power pulling that trailer!
Is it possible that "e é o é a group"?
Friends of the oxcart, do you have a picture of an oxcart at home? Do you have, or rather, do you have any images of yourself from childhood, any memories from childhood, because that scene isn't so common anymore these days, is it? It used to be much more difficult with our ancestors. However, this work here is a work that deserves recognition, and we're going to show you all the details about it. Look, look at the animal positioning itself here, this whole scene. And I want to make this provocative statement to you who are at home. Send a photo. If it's not in that oxcart, just you wait and see. This report is unmissable, it's really beautiful. And I'm going to challenge you with this idea: either an oxcart or some memory that takes you back to the past, but not so much an urban past, a more rural past in this setting. It's not just oxcarts, you know.
Anything you have there to document, send a message. If it's just a memory, if you don't have a photo on hand, then at least send a message and say something about that moment.
I love taking this trip back in time.
Interact 988 1938.
Today was a freezing dawn in several cities in the Serra Catarinense region.
Like you, we're going to show you some images now of the vegetation that turned white this morning in various places. We have the images here to give you an idea of how cold it is, right?
Temperatures reached -4.1º in Bom Jardim da Serra, the lowest recorded in Santa Catarina. The cities of São Joaquim and Urupema, considered the coldest cities in Brazil, also recorded sub-zero temperatures, reaching -3.7°C and -0.8°C respectively, according to the State Civil Defense. A mass of polar air coming from Rio Grande do Sul, Uruguay, and Argentina is expected to bring temperatures down to sub-zero levels, similar to those recorded today. And the expectation is that Thursday morning will be the coldest of the week. And look, winter has arrived, folks. Freezing.
It's the scene and our setting here in the south, especially in the mountain region, right?
He becomes even more charming. That white paint on the green creates such a wonderful contrast. And here we have this image of our region. So you already know, uh, you're getting ready for the cold.
Gabriela Senzuk will be bringing more information about the weather forecast shortly. From here on out it's only going to get colder.
[music] That's why the winter clothing drive has already begun. Júo César is arriving here to bring us more information about the winter clothing drive. Once again, we are joining hands to offer this physical warmth to many people who lack it, through our gesture.
Junor, good morning.
Hey João, greetings to you and to everyone following our general overview.
Confirmation. That's right, João, you're saying the cold weather is going to get worse and worse.
That's the prediction. And that's why I'm here, we're here to draw your attention, you who are there in your home right now, nice and warm, having lunch, right? For those of you who are at work, having lunch, and then you get home at night, you have that blanket, you have that warm coat, you who wake up early, working people, to go out into the streets, right? If you have that jacket, if you have that warm clothing, it's time for you to participate with us in the NDTV 2026 winter clothing drive. Last year, João, with the winter clothing drive, more than 1 million items were collected throughout the state of Santa Catarina, helping more than 44,000 families in the state of Santa Catarina.
Families who truly lack the means to go out, to buy a coat, a jacket, sweatpants, and so on. So, our appeal here, João, my appeal, your appeal, speaking face to face, eye to eye with the viewer, is for you, who are at home, to start motivating your family, to start motivating the people at your work to separate those warm clothes. Go ahead and clean out your closet. I know that many times we get attached to a certain piece of clothing, but we don't wear it anymore. Or that piece of clothing that no longer fits you, separate it, put it in a bag, put it in a box, call your friends, your family, have a family barbecue on the weekend, talk to the people at work so they can bring these clothes, gather these clothes and starting Friday, the day after tomorrow, kicking off the winter clothing drive, our solidarity boxes will arrive at the collection points. It's very simple: you take your winter clothing to our collection points, which you 'll find out about starting this Friday here on our NTV and NDTV programming, and also on the ND Mais portal.
So that's it, the appeal is for you to start separating your clothes for the winter clothing drive. In this way, you will change lives and help many families who do not have the financial means to buy warm clothes for this harsh winter that is coming. Now, João, it's nice and tasty. The sunshine outside is nice, but the truth is, it's going to get colder when the sun goes down. Tomorrow we'll have the coldest night ever, in fact, from Wednesday to Thursday. So, gather your warm clothes and keep an eye on our schedule on the ND Mais portal to make your donation. That's the appeal, João. The initial step has been taken.
NTTV 2026 Winter Clothing Drive. Thanks, Junior. Thanks. Nice appeal.
Important. Of course, our region is a very supportive region. Every year we record excellent donation numbers. So, the winter clothing drive is here, and like Júnior said, do that work to declutter, right? It's a great idea to replace a new outfit with something nice, isn't it?
Two men have been indicted by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Santa Catarina for involvement in a scheme to steal and receive stolen electricity meters. This happened in Imbituba.
Marcos Mateuses will be bringing us all the details.
This complaint from the Public Prosecutor's Office was filed through the third prosecutor's office in Imbituba and is based on a Civil Police operation called Operation Short Circuit. It was carried out by the Civil Police in partnership with the Military Police, the Imbituba City Hall, and Celesc (the state's electricity company). The investigation revealed that these men, who are now being prosecuted, were acting together while wearing Celesc uniforms, driving branded cars, and using fake service request forms. They approached the victims identifying themselves as a third-party company that provided services for Celesc and claimed they could regularize the person's energy situation. They would go there and charge amounts ranging from R$ 150 to R$8,000. And when it came time to reconnect the power, they were using devices, you know, those energy meters, the energy meters that had already been stolen from Celesc. Therefore, this constitutes the crime of receiving stolen goods for these two individuals who have been accused. And then, when it came time to install, of course, since they weren't actually licensed employees, they made illegal power connections, clandestine connections, which also constitutes aggravated theft. So, to give you an idea, nine victims were identified, and two of them were scammed twice, meaning there are 11 cases of aggravated theft and receiving stolen goods related to these energy meters.
And so we have this process happening now, this indictment from the Public Prosecutor's Office for receiving stolen goods and aggravated theft. This complaint has already been accepted by the judiciary, and the accused are now defendants in this case. We went back to the studio.
Thanks. That's some creative banditry, is n't it? Prison is an investigation. Let's go.

The Brazilian Postal Service (Correios) and Serasa announced a partnership to expand debt renegotiation through the new " Desenrola Brasil" program.
From now on, consumers will be able to negotiate debts in person at post office branches, as this provides greater security. The initiative primarily serves those who have difficulty accessing digital platforms or prefer in-person service, right? Today, this issue of what is presentable is so dangerous. So, in addition to in-person service at the branches, negotiations are also conducted through official channels, whether it's Serasa's website, app, or WhatsApp, which are displayed on the screen, cerasa.com.br, available for you to settle your accounts and regularize your credit situation.

We're back here with our overall recap now at 1:58. The music's about to start, it's almost noon, right?
Every time the clock strikes noon here, I'm reminded of the bells ringing in various towns in our region, including Crisilma in Leleu Ramos Square, right? Soon those bells will ring if they're tuned to the time, right? You can send us that photo too, what does it remind you of? But let's start with more information. We'll continue with more information here.
The 27th March in Defense of Municipalities officially began in Brasília. The event brings together mayors, city councilors, and secretaries from across the country to discuss issues that impact municipal administrations.
Among the main concerns are the increased costs for municipalities and changes in labor legislation.
We'll follow this in the opening report, which shows us a little bit, exposes us a little bit about this event that's happening in Brasília.
And of course, Danila Bernardes is there to accompany her.
The opening of the 27th Brasília march in defense of municipalities was attended by the Vice President of the Republic, Geraldo Alckmin, the presidents of the Chamber of Deputies, Hugo Mota, and the Senate, Davi Alcolumbre, as well as government ministers.
The role that this march plays in demanding effective results for the municipalist movement from the authorities here in Brasília only reinforces the need for this march to be stronger and more participatory each year, because here echoes the voice of the real Brazil. These are concrete achievements that the legislature has been delivering year after year to Brazilian municipalities. And many of these achievements, I reaffirm this, many of these achievements were born from dialogues initiated here at the mayors' march. The visit of President Lula, who was in São Paulo, was discussed behind the scenes. He was the only pre-candidate who did not confirm his participation. The march brings together mayors, city councilors, and secretaries from cities across the country. The event is organized by the National Confederation of Municipalities, CNM. FECAN, the Federation of Municipalities of Santa Catarina, reported that approximately 140 mayors from cities in Santa Catarina attended the event. One of the problems that municipal managers are discussing and trying to resolve is related to changes in work schedules. The proposed constitutional amendment currently being debated in the Chamber of Deputies, which reduces the work week from 44 to 40 hours, could alter the contracts that municipalities have with service providers, leading to increased costs for these municipalities.
It costs R$ billions of reais just for municipalities to readjust the contracts of outsourced workers who already work in the municipality. We can no longer tolerate paying for things that are created in Brasília and that don't have a corresponding budget for the municipality. Another point defended by the group is that Congress should not approve increases in minimum wages for workers without also having a way to compensate, because they claim that they cannot afford the increases and that people deserve to earn more. That 's not the point. The key question is where the municipality will get the resources to pay more to all the categories that are making their demands. And all we want to know is, where will the municipality get the funding to take on this responsibility?
It's time for the "Balança Cidade" segment, and Júo César isn't here in the studio today. In fact, let's activate Juno Caesar right away, from where you're getting the information today, my dear Juno, with you. Good afternoon again.
Speak up, Master. Good afternoon again to you, to everyone watching our Balanço Geral program. The topic is serious on today's Balanço Cidade. Unfortunately, this bridge here, this bridge here, it's the scene of a tragedy.
Last Thursday, two young people, right?
Two young people died after falling into this river right here, in this area of the Imperatriz neighborhood, in the São Francisco neighborhood. Further over there we have Boa Vista, Santa Augusta, this region here, right? Lidiane is here too. Come here, Lidiane, please.
Lidiane, a local resident, comes here just to tell us what she's talking about. Did you see everything that happened, Lidiana, that tragedy, how did that accident happen? We heard the bang, we thought it was the iron that was here, that they were doing a survey.
We looked, and when my husband opened the window, he said, "No, it was a car that fell into the river." We jumped right away, we got there, and it was a car that had fallen. We called the police immediately, they came quickly, it did n't even take 5 minutes. The police officer did n't think twice, took off his uniform, jumped inside, and pulled the young man out simply because he didn't see that there was another, like, another victim inside the car. He managed to save one more, but they probably got lost, came there and fell, and he was our neighbor.
Unfortunately, Geovani is here. Come here too, Geovani. I'll ask Leo to come along because the problem is the condition of the bridge, right, Leo? If we show you, look what this bridge is like.
I'll tell you that, sir, I've done reports here on this bridge for other stations, and it's still exactly the same. It's incredible. Hey Leo, show us a close-up of another car that almost fell over here.
Here's a close-up of the tire. Here's a close-up of the tire, man. It hit me last night.
This is all new, Geovan.
This is what they made here, this wooden parapet. I made a new wooden railing for this one.
That one over there was new, where the boys fell.
And that night the boy came again and hit that wooden railing, he collided with it.
How many years have you lived here? It's been 25 to 30 years already. I live in the Imperatriz neighborhood. And this bridge, this whole life, this struggle, this bridge, this whole life, causing trouble. It's one falling, one falling off a bicycle, another falling off a motorcycle, and it's a distant danger. We've been talking, and Toninho, our city councilman here, is really pushing hard to get the bridge improved, but so far nothing has happened. This bridge, look what they come here for, they just come, patch it up, do this, and it stays in this situation. And now it's Friday, and we lost two young people who are from our neighborhoods, they grow up here, and there's a lot of commotion, right? I'll ask Toninho to come here too. Hey Toninho, let's get over here, so we can show you this bridge in the background. Oh, Toninho, it's always the same with stopgap measures, but the bridge continues to be a problem. Folks from the neighborhood, good afternoon.
Good afternoon. Good afternoon to all listeners. Unfortunately, it's a topic, I confess to you, that I didn't want to be able to talk about. I wish I could talk about the construction, but not about the events that occurred, where we were two young people who were cut short from life, like Vani said, from the community, right? Boys who studied here in the community, one, right? One did n't know the other. Well, unfortunately, just like Lidiane mentioned earlier, the first message I received was at 3:52 in the morning. She texted me saying that the car had crashed. Unfortunately, I didn't hear it. I was even saying to her, maybe if I had seen it, we could have helped with first aid and rescue, but I feel so good to be able to participate in this moment, you know? What saddens me even more is that, as you yourself said, Renan, other articles have already been done here, a long time ago. Well, and like many people, like many presidents who have been here, as Vand mentioned, many, right, other communication channels, but I want to thank you for coming to show the truth, for showing the situations. You can see the flow of cars, people, pedestrians, and trucks—everything, everything is too much.
Ser Sérgio passes by here daily with more than 20 children in Tupique, which is the closest way to take them.
And he got tired of asking: "Hey Toninho, the bridge collapsed here, you can see it here, look, it collapsed here, it already gave way, look." So there are several, right? I'm not, I don't want to blame anyone, this is just my intuition, especially since we're not going to bring these young people back to life, but it serves as a warning that we, right? That's what we care about, that's our job. What I'm saying is that I didn't come here out of curiosity; I came to try and solve a problem that we've been aiming for for a long time, right? And worried about the children, these children here, look, today they do n't have school, but they go every day, in the morning they pass by here to go to school, and children, right? Sometimes it's all messed up here. So, it's wood, and wood isn't safe; it won't hold a car. So we worry a lot, right? We are very concerned about the situation there.
So, I even went down that bridge, and there was even a boy who sent me an audio message this week saying he fell 24 years ago. He saw the news report and said, "Toninho, 24 years ago I fell off my bike on the bridge. I didn't die, thank God, but I still have the marks from the fall to this day." So Toninho, as a city councilor, you don't have the power to make the decisions, but you can fight to get a well-built concrete bridge built here.
That's the fight.
That's the struggle, right? Yes, we give our best, and besides, we say we can't solve the problem, but we do our best, because we are in the eyes of the mayor, we are in the eyes of the community, so we have to play this role together with the community, together with the municipality, right? I want to highlight that we received three bridges from Governor Jorginho Melo, who has been doing a great job, including the fact that the service agreement will be signed now, right? But unfortunately, this bridge was left out.
She was left out. So it worries me.
I told Secretary Tita that yesterday.
Secretary Tita expressed concern and offered his services even as a secretary. Hey Toninho, how about we make a whip guard like the ones we have along the riverbanks? I'm saying, Secretary, that's what we want, until we can get a bridge. We're going to bring you the best. The secretary also expressed concern about the situation that occurred here, because it wasn't for lack of speaking up, of bringing up the problems we've been experiencing on a daily basis. Not this one here, if you pass by here on your way home, on Osvaldo Gomes, yes, 15 days ago, a lady didn't fall because the railing was made of iron and it held her. So this is the problem we've been experiencing in these communities, right?
Look, that's it, folks! Let it be recorded here, you see, master? Actually, I'm going to ask Leo to come here so we can keep an eye on things and ask you, who are at home. Maybe you live in another part of Cristum and don't experience this every day, but you can imagine, right? Look, would you have the courage to cross this bridge in your car, on your motorcycle, to send your child to school in a small van, to send your child to school by bicycle? It really is a very serious problem, you know, João? And we're here to show, to make an appeal, you know, to the authorities in general. Another car passing by. We can see that it's extremely tight to get through here.
It's dangerous, but the flow is large. This region, this neighborhood, has actually grown a lot, hasn't it? It has grown a lot in recent years, and the bridge remains the same as it was 25, 26, 27, 28 years ago. So, the appeal is that, as the councilman says, if you start removing this wood here, because this won't hold anything, right? If I push any harder here, she'll fall. If we remove this piece of wood here, start with this iron railing, that will already help, and then we'll look for someone who knows how to build a proper bridge, and make that request to the authorities, right? Balance city today.
This is our record. I'll come back with you, okay, João?
The reality that is often beyond our sight, beyond our reach.
Thank you, Júnior, for showing situations like this here on Balanço da Cidade, this situation of the connection between São Francisco and Imperatriz, which are two extremely populous neighborhoods, uh, densely populated, uh, the population there is quite intense. And there is a very important connection. The councilman himself showed a list the other day at the City Council, from 1900, from 2020, if my memory serves me right, the most recent requests, there's a pile of requests to solve the problem of this bridge and it still isn't, so, as I said, it's not an absolute priority at the moment, that is, it's not an issue that arose yesterday, it did n't arise with this accident. There have been several other warnings, when not tragedies, right?
Let's check out some events from our region on the News Roundup.
A 28-year-old woman died after suffering an electric shock yesterday in Orléans. She was working in the kitchen of a snack bar when she was struck by an electric shock caused by a deep fryer.
[music] The woman has been identified as Verline Bernardo dos Reis.
A 22-year-old man was arrested yesterday in Cristiuma for illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition. The Military Police received a report and went to the location to investigate. In addition to the young man arrested, another 23-year-old man was charged with possession of drugs for personal use.
A 35-year-old man needed to be rescued on a trail yesterday in Praia Grande. He twisted his ankle while hiking in a remote location, situated 2 km from the vehicle's location.
Aerial support from the archangel was necessary. Then, [music] the victim was taken by the municipal ambulance to the hospital.
The engine and windshield of a car caught fire while the driver was traveling on the BR101 highway in Tubarão yesterday. The driver stopped the car as soon as he noticed the flames. The Fire Department used 500 liters of water to fight and extinguish the fire.
Now look at this. Five dogs were rescued from Morro da Fumaça after a report of animal abuse that is being investigated by the Civil Police. This case also involves suspicions of abuse.
A man has been indicted. Marcos Matildes has details for us now.
Yes, five dogs were rescued in Novo da Fumaça after this report reached the Civil Police. Reports of physical and sexual abuse, as well as a case of bestiality, were registered in Morro da Fumaça. So, after receiving these reports, the Civil Police went to the location and managed to rescue the five dogs that were with the suspect. He was indicted and also prohibited by the court from owning any animals or keeping any domestic animals. These dogs were taken to a shelter and also received medical attention. This investigation began shortly after the complaints were filed, and a full analysis will now be conducted. The investigation continues to assess all points. Veterinary examinations are being carried out and indicate that the dogs have injuries consistent with the reported mistreatment. Now, we have this case of animal abuse that falls under federal law, right? It has been considered an environmental crime since 1998, but there were changes in 2020 that increased the prison sentence to 2 to 5 years in cases of animal abuse, with aggravating circumstances and penalties such as, for example, the prohibition of keeping animals, as is the case with Monteiro da Fumaça. So it's a crime, mistreatment, and the police always act as they did in that city. We went back to the studio.
Thank you, Marcos. If you know of any cases of animal abuse, report them. Don't remain silent, report it.
And it's cold, isn't it? With the arrival of cold weather comes concern about respiratory illnesses, which increase in Santa Catarina at this time of year. The vaccine against the respiratory virus, recommended for pregnant women from the seventh month onwards, is already in high demand in the state.
Meanwhile, flu vaccination rates remain below expectations among so-called priority groups, a scenario that worries authorities. Graziela is 8 months pregnant and since the beginning of her pregnancy she has been concerned about getting all the doses of vaccines recommended for pregnant women.
We have a whole vaccination schedule, right? Well, there are countless ways for us to protect ourselves and the baby, right? I already took a few doses last month, and a few more this month. Next month there's one too, and there's one postpartum as well.
She is already preparing to receive the new vaccine available through the SUS (Brazilian public healthcare system) for pregnant women starting in their seventh month of pregnancy. The vaccine against respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), which protects the baby from respiratory illnesses such as bronchiolitis.
He already gave me a preview of some upcoming vaccines, and the bronchiolitis vaccine is one of them. So, next week, she'll probably give me the instructions, for sure, on what to do.
Immunization has been available in Brazil for 5 months, and 90% of pregnant Brazilian women have already received the vaccine. An unprecedented achievement in the country, according to the Ministry of Health. In Santa Catarina, vaccination coverage reached 91.62%.
This is a recent vaccine that was added to the vaccination schedule at the end of 2025. And I think we've seen good uptake from pregnant women, high coverage, a maximum of 91% in these initial 2026 data, and that plays an important role because the vaccine in pregnant women protects children in the first months of life from a virus that has a significant impact on children up to 2 years of age.
Vaccination of pregnant women may already be having an impact, and it is important that they continue to get vaccinated to protect their children. Despite good uptake of the vaccine against the initial virus among pregnant women, another immunization still has low demand here in Santa Catarina among the priority group: the flu vaccine. Since the start of the flu vaccination campaign in March of this year, only 35.39% of the priority group have received the immunization in Santa Catarina.
Children were the least vaccinated group, with only 22.91%.
Next, the elderly appear with 40.14% and pregnant women with 41.44%.
The low participation rate is a concern for the State Health Department, especially with the approach of winter, a time when cases of acute respiratory syndromes increase. An updated vaccine annually for those viruses that circulate most and have the greatest impact, and whose main objective is to reduce the severity of the disease, that is, to reduce mortality and the need for hospitalization, especially for these priority groups. We know that we are approaching a period where the circulation of these respiratory viruses increases, and the health system is already facing a very high demand, a demand that is beginning to put pressure on the state's health system. The occupancy rate of ICU beds in Santa Catarina is already raising alarm bells. In the latest update from the State Health Department's dashboard this Tuesday, six regions in Santa Catarina show occupancy rates above 90%. The most critical situation is in the Serra Catarinense region, where occupancy is approaching 99%.
Across the state, 1,325 beds are occupied and only 11 remain available.
If there is an increase in respiratory viruses, you may actually have even greater pressure on those hospital beds.
The flu vaccination campaign continues until May 30th, with free vaccinations available through the SUS (Brazilian public healthcare system).

Record Cristi Morro Grande. So, this is the live scenario right now: 19 degrees, the temperature is freezing, and we want to know more about the weather conditions for the next few hours. So straight to the central office.
[music] Who's talking to us, Gabriela Senzuk.
Good afternoon, Gabri. Good afternoon to you and to everyone watching us here on Balanço Geral this Wednesday. The lowest temperatures this Wednesday were recorded in the Serra Catarinense region.
This morning, São Joaquim recorded a temperature of -4.8º. Bom Jardim da Serra is at -4.7 degrees Celsius and Urubici at -1.6 degrees Celsius as well. 0.6 in Urupema and 0.3 in Campo Belo do Sul. And soon the sun graced us with its presence, warming the residents of the mountain region, as seen in these images by Wagner Urbano, our reporter from the mountains. And this sunshine will continue to predominate in the west, in the mountains, and also in the south of the state, as our map shows. In the Itajaí Valley, along the coast, and in the north of the state, we have sun with some clouds today. The dry weather and cold feeling persist in our state due to this mass of cold, dry air. This air mass doesn't completely reach southern Brazil, but due to its intensity, it also has an influence here in Santa Catarina. The sea remains rough today between the southern coast and the greater Florianópolis area, with waves ranging from 2.5 m to 3 m. And the temperatures now, in the early afternoon, are rising a little and it's becoming a bit more pleasant, at least in the eastern part of the state. Starting in the north of the state, Joinville could reach 23º today.
Floripa, Itajaí 21, Criciúma 19. In the Itajaí Valley, Blumenau reaches 22. In the west, Joaçaba and Chapecó have highs of 18, Caçador 16 and Lajes does not exceed 15 in the Serra Catarinense. Tomorrow, Thursday, the day will be sunny with some clouds throughout the state. Dry weather prevails, but temperatures remain lower due to the advance of this mass of cold, dry air across the state. The feeling of cold will be very similar to what we are already feeling today, but the temperatures will drop a little on the thermometers.
Tomorrow morning will see the lowest temperatures of the week, below zero in the mountains and also in the midwest. At the highest points of the mountain range, temperatures could drop back to -6 or -7 degrees Celsius, as they did last week. And then we have a frost forecast. Remember that tomorrow the sea will remain rough between the southern coast and the greater Florianópolis area, with waves that could reach 3 meters on the northern coast and 2 to 2.5 meters, with peaks of three meters offshore. This map now shows the frost forecast for the early morning and dawn of Thursday. The regions in red are those where moderate to severe frost is expected. Note that the phenomenon can be recorded in several cities, not only in the more traditional frost regions, such as the Serra and the Midwest, but also in the Northern Plateau and throughout our great west, as this map shows. Temperatures for tomorrow. So, Joinville starts the day around 12 degrees Celsius, but could reach 19. Itajaí and Florianópolis are at 9 and 19 degrees respectively. Crisma, minimum of 4 and maximum of 18. Blumenau 11.1. Minimum temperatures of 1°C and maximums of 14°C. In Joaçaba and Chapecó, here in the west, minimums of three degrees Celsius and maximums of 18°C. And in Caçador, -2°C with maximums of 15°C. Instability is coming on Friday.
It even starts with sunny spells, but during the week, as we've already felt, we'll continue to have cold weather.
Throughout Friday, the heaviest clouds will move in from Paraná, bringing a cloudier and more overcast day. And since this instability originates in Paraná, the regions with the highest probability of rain are precisely those bordering the neighboring state, parts of the west and north of the state, and also the Itajaí Valley. I'll be back tomorrow and I'll bring you more information here at Central do Tempo. Have a great Wednesday.
Thank you, Gabriela Senzuk. Yes, the cold weather is coming. Our winter clothing drive is also happening.
We're going live now with Júlio César.
Returning here to our overall assessment. Hey Junô, it's a place in Jaguaruna where a whale got stranded. And that? The information, please. That's it, João. Jaguaruna, municipality of Jaguaruna, where a whale was found. She's considered to be among the species, right? A giant whale among whale species. There are those they call dwarf whales, but this one would be a giant whale, Bride's whale. Bride's whale is the name of this species, which can reach up to 15 meters in length and weigh up to 40 tons. In this specific case, the whale that was found weighed about 13, in fact, it was 13 meters long and weighed more than 30 tons, right? This whale was found already dead. That's an interesting detail, isn't it? In some cases, stranded whales are found still alive. In this case, she was found dead. And now, obviously, there's a whole study to be done by the University of Santa Catarina. The skin was collected, the blubber was collected, and the carcass will obviously be removed from the site for study, to understand exactly what happened, whether this whale actually died there stranded, or whether it actually died and ended up stranded closer to the shore. Finally, now comes the study phase to understand exactly what happened. Of course, it's a regrettable scene, right? A very sad scene. It's something we see frequently in the state of Santa Catarina, these whales appearing stranded. In this particular case, this 13-meter-long Briard's whale was already dead when it was found stranded. Just out of curiosity, this whale is one that generally lives off the southeastern coast, also off the coast of southern Brazil, it can also be found off the coast of the Rio de Janeiro region, and it comes very close to the coast, mainly in search of sardines. She eats, she feeds on sardines, and she ends up going out to hunt those sardines, right? So now we're going to go through a whole study so we can understand exactly what happened. Of course, our team continues to monitor the situation to determine whether or not it could disrupt the environmental balance, the water situation, in this Brazilian context. First, why did this whale end up so close to the coast in southern Brazil?
Specifically in the municipality of Jaguaruna. And then to understand if it died before, died after, and why this whale died, a study is being carried out. Did you see, John? I'll come back to you at the studio.
Thanks. Thank you, Junior, for the information.
The oxcart, a symbol of strength and simple life in the countryside, still lives on in the memory of many people here in southern Santa Catarina. In Tubarão, a group decided to transform this memory into a tradition and this Sunday they will walk through the main streets of the city, carrying on the culture that has endured for many years.
[music] The slow pace of the oxen, the wheels marking the dirt road, the shared coffee after a full day 's work in the fields. [Music] Memories that help tell part of the story of the interior of Santa Catarina. Images that seem distant today, but which for many years were part of the daily lives of entire families. It was on oxcarts that much wealth was transported, that farmers [music] faced mud and clay, and that entire communities grew in the south of the state.
My grandparents and uncles always told us [music] that our region here was formed around oxcarts, right? People would take it and plant cassava, and make flour. right? So, they sold flour in the city, [music] they sold firewood, you know, to the people in the city, they sold oranges, coarse sugar.
So, our [music] community was formed, not only our community, but the city of Tubarão was formed [music] on the neck of the ox and through the ox cart, right, which was the means of transport at the time, right? In Tubarão, this memory gained strength through a group created by people passionate about rural culture. The Amigos do Carro de Boi group was born from a conversation between Alex and Celo. Friends who grew up witnessing this tradition firsthand and decided to prevent it from being lost over time. What started [music] in a simple way, quickly brought together dozens of people driven by the same feeling: preserving their origins. My father was a farmer, so I grew up in the countryside until I was 15, working in the fields with my father. And so, my father always, our first toy was a pair of oxen, and my father would spend time making an ox cart, assembling one from scratch. So, that's how he developed a passion for oxcarts, right?
On June 1st of last year, the group was finally created. The first gathering brought together about 30 oxcarts. Today the group has over 200 members and even participates in religious festivals in the region. A cultural revival that grows every year.
He said, "Alex, maybe we could organize a caravan. We thought we could get four or five cars together, right? And we started talking about forming a group of ox-drawn carts to revive this culture, and that's how this project to revive the culture began.
And among the protagonists of this story are animals that impress not only with their strength but also with their intelligence. Baiano and Gigante, Alex's oxen, know the commands so well that they position themselves in the right place on the yoke, as if they understand exactly when to work.
So they go to the cart alone, without a rope, without anything, right? So, they develop other skills, right? They walk with children riding on top, and today they also walk without a rope, they give commands, they turn around without a rope, just by word, right? Just by voice command. So, they..." They are so different, and for me, special because of the love we have for them, you know? The affection is inexplicable. That's it.
As they walk through the property, pulling the oxcart among trees, pastures, and dirt roads, they help transport much more than memories; they transport stories. Alex, and what do they mean to you?
Oh, Pedro, for me they mean a lot, you know? Because, you see, they represent our culture, right? So, you see, they are a symbol for us that our culture will not end. So, today, through them, and the other oxen too, you know, that our group, our group Amigos Carros de Boi, represents history, living history, you know?
We are showing living history to our generation, to the new generations. And now this tradition and this culture will return to happen right in the center of the city. A parade will take place this Sunday morning through the main central streets here in Tubarão. And with The expectation is already high in the city. All of us [musicians] from Amigos do Carro de Boi are very excited, right? And there are many participants who will return who used to make this journey, right? So, for us it will be very rewarding [musicians] to have the people who used to go by oxcart, taking goods by oxcart there, and will return with us repeating this journey again.
The traditional oxcart parade organized by Amigos do Carro de Boi will be part of the Tubarão agricultural fair program for the first time. The oxcarts will travel through the city streets to the multi-purpose arena, bringing the public closer to a tradition [musicians] that spans generations. It's a chance for these people who still [musicians] preserve the tradition to show a little of their work and bring to light the memory of those who helped build this land.
We want to show the culture, show the history, but through the [musicians] oxcart, showing it live, right? We are creating the opportunity to show our children and the new generation what the culture was like in Back in the day, right? [music] It's really great for you guys here, for Pedro, for the beautiful report and for this initiative they have here.
How wonderful, how cool, right?
I made a provocation at the beginning of Balanço Geral, when we announced that we would show this report, uh, I made a provocation. What does it remind you of? Do you have a picture of an oxcart?
What kind of memories do you have of this more rural environment?
Uh, we made this provocation and some people sent messages to our WhatsApp, right? Put it on the screen, look, Francisco is saying the following: "My father had a team of oxen just like this and did the same thing, I miss those times." "The oxen's names were brilliant and diamond." It's a matter of the oxen's names, right? Another question. Look, Aléia Machado sent this to us. Here's a beautiful memento. It was used by my grandfather Manuel Machado's oxen.
It's kept with great affection by a cousin. How cool, right? So good. Thanks, Leia. And Antônio. Oh, Antônio has a miniature. Look what I made. A souvenir from the countryside, congratulations on your talent, great craftsman, right? And Roberto Zabote from Tubarão. My family and I, in my youth, saw many oxcarts.
When there were school trips, I rode horses and saw many of these unforgettable scenes, Roberto is saying here. And Ana Cristina from... Look at this photo. What a treasure this photo is, Ana.
These are my grandparents when they were young with my children. Look at the richness of this photo, right? And with their children, including, right?
These are my grandparents with their children.
This is a beautiful photo, a beautiful photo here.
Thanks, thank you. Keep sending them to us here because It's a journey through time that we take, isn't it? I want to remind you that here in the far south, I think it's Santa Rosa do Sul, right? that there's... there's a parade of oxcarts, right? There's even a parade of oxcarts, right? It's even trying to be one of the cities where this is quite traditional. Tubarão is doing this next Sunday. Congratulations, excellent report, right?

Yes, I've ridden in an oxcart. Did you see that we did that today? A very nice report by Pedro, right? In a little while, after the sports segment, I'll come back to talking about it. Whoever has it and will also send a message to us here.
Oh, that's great. One of the most used means of transport here, right?
Which was used for a long time, right?
And it reminds us of old times, right?
Old times.
Let's go. With your participation in 988 1938. Inter here on the program, send us your message, talk about Tigre, there are two important games now, Operário and then the classic against Havaí. How will these two games be?
Send us your message here. I'll talk about training. Yesterday was a day off at the training center, today the team returned to work to prepare for this match against Operário. Remembering that Operário is coming off a defeat, a heavy loss at home, and Cristiuma will play there now. So it's important that in these two games Cristiuma at least gets points and brings points to Cristiuma so that they can then have a series of home games. But regarding preparation, we had the news of Rodrigo returning to training, Alisson also returning to training, they should be available to coach Eduardo Batista for next Sunday's match. And the absences continue to be striker Romarinho, who had a sprained ankle in training last week, and Cauê with discomfort in his calf.
Cauê did a separate training session today from the rest of the team. The group went onto the pitch.
Romarinho didn't even go down to the pitch, and goalkeeper Airton, also with discomfort, did n't go onto the pitch either. This includes his absence in the last game. Airton had been used as Cristiano's starting goalkeeper. So, Tigre will now have two more days of preparation before the trip to Paraná to try to recover these athletes who are in the medical department and who can return to be available to coach Eduardo Batista. This morning, before training, goalkeeper Pedro, who made his debut last weekend in the Série B of the Brazilian Championship, playing in a competition of this magnitude, gave a press conference and spoke about the support he received from the coaching staff. They gave me a lot of confidence in my work. I was also showing in training that I was doing well, that I was ready. They were super important, and so were Airton and Alisson, who gave me a lot of confidence before the game, and I believe I went in more relaxed, confident, and managed to give my best.
And Pedro, a young goalkeeper from the youth academy, made his debut in the Série B Championship. Brazilian Championship last weekend. But now our topic is Azulão da Montanha, which is also in preparation, huh? They returned to training yesterday afternoon, starting preparations to face Tubarão in the sixth round of the Santa Catarina State Championship's Serie B. There's a classic here in the South, right? Two teams, two representatives of the state championship. The away game is scheduled for Sunday at 3 pm. At the return to training, the players who started the match against Jaraguá participated in regenerative work. The other group trained technical aspects on the field.
Azulão da Montanha's next training session will be this afternoon. Let's move on to another topic now, talking about Isara, which is another team following in Caravajo's footsteps.
Isara will hold two tryouts for athletes born between 2004 and 2008. The objective is to identify young talents from the region to form the squad that will compete in the regional championship. The evaluations will take place on July 13th and 20th, starting at 8 am at the Isara sports complex. This initiative is also part of the club's planning for the coming years and the transition process to professional football. Athletes interested in participating must fill out an online form available on the club's social media and attend the sports center on the evaluation days. As I said, Isara is following the same path as Caravajo.
Today, Caravajo competes in the Série B of the Campeonato Catarinense.
And now let's move on to another topic, another team that stands out in our region. Every week we show the achievements of Forquilinha's volleyball team here on BG. And with each passing year, the project gains more strength and prominence at the state level, but above all, it builds a union between sport and society.
It's more than two decades of trajectory focused on the formation of athletes and citizens. It starts in the social sphere and brings many benefits to everyone, you know?
So I think it comes a lot from that, a lot from the collective. I believe it makes people realize everything within the project.
And it all starts with the training schools for children from 7 years old until reaching the performance teams in the under-12 and under-16 female categories. [Music] and male categories from under-15 to under-19. Cane is one example of someone who has gone through all the processes within the project. She arrived very young, at 9 years old, and today she is one of the team's coaches.
And we started in the under-1 category, I went at 13, 14. In the under-14 category I was a standout in the under-14, 15, 16 and then in the adult category, which at the time didn't exist, it was under-15 and under-16, right? And then it was already adult, so it wasn't under-19 like it is today. So I was a standout in those four categories and then I went to Chapecó. That's where I stayed for two years in Chapecó, I got caught up in the pandemic and stayed another year as an under-21 athlete, no, it wasn't under-21, under-19 or something like that. And then I went to Caçador. I stayed a year in Caçador and then returned. That's where Jean also called me to come as a coach.
Isabela is following the same path. She started practicing the sport in 2024 and today, at 11 years old, she is part of the team. Regarding performance.
My brother used to play volleyball for a while. He would go to championships, and I would go with him and my family. That's how I ended up falling in love with volleyball and joined.
The school plays a fundamental role for children who don't have a basic volleyball foundation. Currently, Júlia is one of the team's standouts. Proof of this is that at 12 years old, she's already part of the under-14 team.
She arrived in 2022 at 8 years old and has evolved over time.
I learned everything here. No, I didn't know how to play yet. Have you evolved a lot over this time?
Yes, a lot. I didn't even know how to touch the ball properly.
The project started in 2002. Five years later, Pav was created, a union between parents and friends of volleyball in Porquilinha.
Objective: to raise funds for the project. Today there are already 470 athletes if we include the schools and the performance projects.
But our men's team is doing very well, they're in the 2017 state championship, right?
We're also increasing the number of women's teams. age. Ah, today we have more than 25 full scholarships for some of the most needy athletes, right? Who work with the project. And the idea is to participate in the state league championship, representing the small municipality. Our goal is to become the largest volleyball base in Santa Catarina, okay? We are currently working with this number of athletes seeking training, and this is generating a lot of motivation from people close to here looking for us to participate in the project and so on.
And the project is progressing rapidly and on the right track. The union between public authorities and APAV provides the conditions for all the planning to be put into practice.
It's a very promising project, right?
Forquilhinha is experiencing great growth in men's volleyball. It's a good work opportunity, right? A structure is available here so that we can work with materials, human resources as well, right? We are managing to develop good activity, [music] good work here with the group we have.
Certainly. Training every day.
One hour a day, every day, half a day.
Physical training is one hour, and for the older categories, which today are 15 and 16, it's an hour and a half of ball training and another half hour of physical training. Besides all the development of skills on the court, what also comes into play are the benefits provided by the sport, which becomes a tool that contributes to the formation of the citizen. Yes, I played volleyball a lot, I even achieved some recognition, we were even state champions, and not only in volleyball, but it also helped me as a person, right? I started to socialize more, I started to interact more with people, and volleyball is everything to me, I would say.
Great project, right? And we'll talk a lot more about volleyball in Forquilinha, because practically every week the team achieves something, right? Both in the men's and women's categories. So, congratulations to everyone who develops this project in Forquilinha. Now let's interact on screen. People participating with us. Hello, are you tuned in with us, Rafael? I believe in six points and 2-1 in both games.
Oli's saying this here, he's confident. Six points away from home in two away games, look, that would be excellent.
2-1 is one score and 2-2 in both games too. Yeah, did you like that prediction, João?
I liked it a lot.
Oerson is saying: "Good afternoon." " Cristiuma, playing away from home on the counter-attack, can't leave João Carlos out, as he's the only fast player on the team." That's what Emerson Júnior is saying, already giving his prediction for coach Eduardo Batista's lineup. Operário, and then comes the classic against Havaí at Ressacada. Our fans are very optimistic. Two away wins would be excellent. It's difficult, but not impossible. It 's not impossible. Let's believe.
For sure. Let's believe.
Okay. We'll talk more, João, about Tigre. Okay. See you later.
See you later.

Right next to PG.
Goals, analysis, debates, and even controversies. When Cristor knows how to play this, Saturday [music] here at... We're back here with our general overview. A hug today to everyone from Morro da Fumaça. The city is on holiday, right? May 20, 1962.
The founding of the city of Morro da Fumaça celebrates 64 years today. And in Bituba, here in our region, the celebrations for the 68th anniversary of the municipality's emancipation have officially begun.
The programming The city hall has launched a series of cultural, sporting, and musical attractions over more than a week.
This year's highlight is [ __ ] Zimba, a two-day festival with national acts Ferrugem and Maneva.
Pedro Garcia will be bringing us the details of this celebration, which has already been launched.
Embituba has already begun the countdown to celebrate the city's 68th anniversary with a program that promises to engage residents and tourists for several days of activities. The official calendar of festivities was presented by the city hall during a press conference last night and includes cultural, sporting, and leisure events, community actions, and musical attractions for audiences of all ages. The celebrations begin on June 13th with Arraiá do Porto and the official opening of the program at the port of Imbituba. The agenda continues throughout the week with book launches, cultural presentations, educational activities, itinerant activities in the neighborhoods, and also the presence of the Federal Highway Police's mobile cinema, which will carry out educational activities. The festivities in the municipality don't stop there. The program also highlights local artists, cultural projects, and traditional city events.
Among the highlights are dance performances, storytelling, cultural workshops, a craft fair, sports activities, and social actions aimed at community integration.
According to the city hall, the objective is to celebrate Imbituba's history and strengthen the population's sense of belonging, as well as encourage tourism and boost the local economy during the festive period. But the high point of the celebration should once again be Tarde Zimba, which this year will have a special two-day edition at the Jorge Adelino Zanini Events Park.
On Saturday, the 20th, the event will feature sports activities, cultural experiences, a gastronomic area, artistic performances, and a national show by the singer Ferrugem, one of the leading names in pagode music. On Sunday, June 21st, the official anniversary of Imbituba, the program continues from early morning with the Imbituba city race.
Cultural presentations, attractions for families, the traditional cake cutting, and the closing with a national show by the band [band name missing] will also be featured. Maneva, known for their success in the national music scene. Besides the shows, the two days of Zimba afternoon will also feature food drives, an animal adoption fair, dance classes, cultural presentations, and various free activities open to the public.
The expectation is for a large public turnout throughout the program, which has already established itself as one of the main celebratory events in the southern region of Santa Catarina. Pedro Garcia for Balanço Geral.
Thank you, Pedro. And now you'll see that in Brusque, in the north of the state, a simple drawing can go far beyond the paper. The talent of an autistic boy has become a symbol of inclusion, pride, and encouragement within the school, which we'll see.
Pen, paper, and a whole world of possibilities. For João, a student at the Teodoro Becker school, this is how happiness takes shape. Since he was little, he has found in drawings and dinosaurs a special way to express himself. What he perhaps didn't imagine is that a line he drew could gain a much greater meaning.
For him to be happy, all it takes is a pen and a... paper. [laughs] And it really is like that, he picks up a pen and paper and forgets about time.
João, [musician] who is on the autism spectrum, participates in specialized educational services outside of school hours. And it was [musician] precisely during one of these activities that his talent gained even more strength. Between one drawing and another, an idea emerged capable of transforming that dinosaur on paper into inspiration.
João ended up coming to our sessions.
And we were drawing, doing the activities, and since his focus is on dinosaurs, he then asked for some free time to draw. And then, with that drawing and the encouragement, why not make a t- shirt? The drawing created by João now adorns t-shirts that will be worn by the school's professionals. But beyond wearing a simple uniform, they convey a message: that true inclusion happens every day, when potential is recognized and talent is encouraged.
It is a school that seeks inclusion every day. It doesn't just think about inclusion during Autism Awareness Month or on Autism Awareness Day.
Autism. And it's a mark that stays, right? He's one of our students, he's been with us forever, since nursery school, and he's already in the third grade. So we realize how significant this is for him, for his family, and for the school community.
At Teodoro Becker, João and his [music] classmates aren't defined by their difficulties, they're recognized for their abilities, for what makes them unique.
All human beings have potential and abilities, some in some areas and others in others. And here at school we always try to enhance what each one does best, right? And João's was drawing, right? So maybe he has difficulties in another activity, but in drawing he has a skill that I don't have. My dinosaur is horrible, [laughs], right? But this shows that everyone has the capacity and that it's possible for everyone. Drawing is a source of communication for children. And so, from his school history, he's already demonstrating this, right? And this ability to draw, it comes from... He was very small, and then he expanded on that skill, right? And today we have the result of that.
Since his nursery days at school, João has been growing, developing, and showing, stroke by stroke, his way of seeing the world. For the family, seeing their son's drawing become a symbol within the school was more than a surprise.
It was a surprise, a real surprise, because it was an ordinary day, he came for his appointment and suddenly a message arrives from the teacher saying: "Mom, uh, João made a drawing, we're thinking of putting it on a t-shirt, bringing a student from the school, because we always have, you know, things from outside, we embrace them, but this time we want to do it with a student from the school," and it was a surprise, a pleasant surprise, right? We were all happy and supportive of him. João draws dinosaurs, but without realizing it, he also helps to create a more welcoming world, a world where each child [music] is valued for what they do best.
I want to leave a message for the parents, siblings, grandparents, uncles, and those who are closest to the child. Be sensitive, praise him, be close to him, take some time out of your day, because nowadays we know that everything is very rushed, work takes up a lot of our time, but the child needs it, the child needs care, the child needs love and the child needs this encouragement and confidence in him.
Let's continue from here. Let's go to Verma's studio.
Hi Raquel, how are you? Good afternoon.
All is well. Good afternoon to you today. Today, my "good afternoon" to you wasn't in the streets. It wasn't in the streets, right? You escaped the cold, didn't you? And truth. [laughs] Although people here on TV are complaining. AND.
Ask Márcio to see if he won't say that. Our graphic designer, the guy from Rio.
Tell us what's on Vermais today.
Today's Vermais is fitting with this cold weather theme, because we're going to talk about one of the oldest, most ancient, I would say traditional, beverages that has been passed down from generation to generation: tea. There is a variety of teas available. It's a drink that's, in a way, democratic because it's accessible, you can even grow it at home, but best of all, it has countless health benefits, you know, João? But we want to understand what those benefits are.
So I'm going to have a nutritionist here in the studio to tell us all about it. Including from what age can tea be consumed, and if there is a specific time of day. There are several questions that we're going to answer for our viewers. Therefore, I'll take this opportunity to ask for their interaction. The contact information is the same as for BG. And still on the subject of tea, there's a castle here in Criciuma that provides a very immersive experience to learn about this habit of drinking tea, afternoon tea, which originated in England. We visited this place and learned a lot about history. Of course we want to share this with our viewers.
Moving away from that topic for a moment, to warm things up, we have another important subject on today's Vermais: women's self-defense.
Unfortunately, rates of violence against women are increasing, and it's important to know techniques to defend ourselves. So we're going to show you the famous "cravagar". Have you heard of this, John? Have you heard of this type of modality?
Learning to defend yourself.
Too good. 1:35. I'm waiting for everyone. Awesome!
See more today with Raquel Schneider Petro. We continue here with our overall assessment. Look, the government of Santa Catarina has terminated the contract for paving SC 108 after problems in the execution of the works on the stretch between Jacinto Machado and Praia Grande. Marcos Matildes will bring us the details.
Well, this termination was formalized by the state government, a unilateral termination with the company that was then carrying out the paving work on the S8 highway, mainly that stretch connecting Jacinto Machado to Praia Grande. It's a very important stretch for transporting production from the far south of the state, and for tourism, because it connects the canyon region with the border of Rio Grande do Sul; it's a much-anticipated project in the region.
And what happens, this termination of the contract, occurs after the company has already failed to meet several deadlines in the construction schedule, several successive delays, which ultimately leads to the termination of the contract. The state government also fined the company R$ 1,200,000.
That's a breach of contract, right? One that happens. So this fine was imposed on the company, and now the company is also responding, right? The ND Mais news team contacted the company. They did not issue an official statement regarding the fine, but they highlighted that there had been almost no activity on that highway for a year, and there were no machines on the road. This contract termination is now official, but it had already been negotiated with the State Secretariat of Infrastructure, precisely because there was no progress on those works.
To prevent that highway from being at a standstill for any longer, the State Secretariat of Infrastructure is now conducting a complete review of all the needs of that highway, with updated costs for the execution of the work, so that a new process for hiring a company can be carried out with the updated values and there will be no further stoppage. Leaders in the region are specifically pursuing this request because it's a very important stretch of road for the development of this far south region, for tourism, for economic development as a whole, and so there's a need for this paving to make it happen. This bidding process, this new call for tenders, should be launched by the end of June.
We went back to the studio.
Thank you, Marcos. Now, regarding the interaction, I made the provocation, right? So, receiving feedback from our listening audience here at NDTV, Marlene said: "I also worked in the fields, plowing and planting."
Great job, Marlene! Awesome!
Hey Gilmar and Denise, look, this little car was made by my husband Gilmar Coutinho from Imaruí.
Thank you, Gilmar and Denise, for sending us Gilmar, who produced this work. Look, Maria de Fátima sent a photo. My grandparents and the whole family, when they moved to Criciuma, were transported by oxcart. An ox cart carried the belongings.
The ox cart, a transport vehicle, right? Thank you, Maria. That's what Gustavo da Luz is sending us. Let me see.
This article about the oxcart is really cool. This photo is of Didinho Gustavo Laurindo da Luz. I had the pleasure, as a child, of riding in an ox-drawn cart with my parents on our way to the fields. The photo is very old, isn't it? It's hard to see.
She's here, the ox that's here, the cart, right? The photo is upside down here, right? But we can see it here.
It cost. Thank you, Gustavo Valdecir.
João, I filmed this scene up on the hill in Ciderópolis.
There's the oxcart up on the Ciderópolis hill.
It cost.
And then, the engine's power comes on and Ricardo sends us: "Congratulations on the great report about the oxcart. It's always very important to rescue our history and our traditions. And thank you, Ricardo, for sharing it with us here. Thank you for participating in this provocation we made, right?
Going back to the past is one of the ways to relive great moments in our lives. We'll leave it at that with our general overview. ND Esport is coming up, right after, or see more. NTTV, night and day with you.
From Monday to Friday, we have a date here on Balanço Geral Cristiuma, the best company for your lunch.
Here you have a complete overview with news from your city. It's real regional journalism with the largest TV team in southern Santa Catarina.
