'I've Been Working' - Luther Vandross - Guitar Parts + TABS本站添加:
Hey, how's it going? I hope you're doing great. Thank you so much for being here.
And you know, I had this um album on the other day and um this track came on, I've been working uh which is the last track on the first side and I thought, "Oh man, what a groove and a really nice guitar part on there." So I thought um yeah, let's have a look at what's happening. So we have uh Steve Love on guitar on this track. Um also, of course, Marcus Miller on bass and uh Nat Adley Jr. on keys and Buddy Williams on the drums. Um, there's also a credit for Ed Walsh on synth. A really nice synth solo in here. I transcribed the synth solo. I played it on guitar. I thought, you know, why not add that in there. Um, and uh, some amazing backing vocals on here, too. Fona Thornton, Normma Gene, Wright, um, also Philip Bolo and Tawantha Agi on backing vocals here. just amazing track. So, um I really hope you enjoy it. So, let's get stuck into it. I've been working Luther Vandros.
[music] [music] [music] Yeah, [music] [music] [music] you were.
[music] >> [music] [music] >> I don't know why the world loves a love.
[music and singing] >> I'm just a >> who loves a one night thing. Oh [music] yeah.
>> A one night all night. After a [music and singing] long day of work, all I'm going to do is play around.
So, I'm going [music] out for a little bit of a whole lot of getting down.
[music] Do you believe me? You got to believe me. [music] I've been working.
I've been all day working. [music] And I need somebody said I need some I need [music] some love tonight. Oh [singing] yeah.
I [music] need some love. I need some love tonight.
[music] [music] People [music] talk about [singing] my life and here's what they say. [music] >> It's too bad not to feel that way.
>> He sure [music] is crazy. But I don't listen to any around the [music] 5:00 because tonight is life and I don't want [singing] to change anything [music] like what I got.
All right.
I've been working. [music] >> I've been all day working.
And I need [music] somebody say I need some [music] I need some love tonight.
Yeah. [music and singing] I need some love. I need some love tonight.
[music] >> [music] [music] [music] >> So [music] forever [music] I lost to the one night Oh yeah.
Again. [music] Yeah.
>> I work hard every day. So I do what I want to do. [music] That's why I'm set up to find me to do what I [music] want to do.
[music] I' been working.
I've been all [music] working and I need somebody said I need some I [music] love I [music] need somebody say I need some I need some [music] love Yeah, you're a wonderful [music] story.
You're a wonderful story.
[music] I need somebody. I need some I need some [music] [music] I need [music] I need some Oh yeah.
I love you. I [music] love you. Yeah. I need somebody say I need [music] tonight.
[music] [music] [music] Oh yeah.
[music] Oh, [music] I know.
[music] [music] All right. How's it going out there? So, let's have a look at what's happening uh on this track. So, we're starting with this um chord stab. There's just one chord stab um every four bars, and it's an A flat with a B flat on the bass, but it sounds like he's playing two different voicings. So, the first one is just this A flat triad, and then the next one will be this um A flat triad with a major 7 on top.
So, it'll start with three, four.
The bass comes in one, two, now the next voicing.
Okay. So, and then so it does that twice. Um, and then to bring the song into this main guitar riff, there's this line. It doesn't sound like the guitar's playing the line. I sort of played it um except for the last note because it's it's a bit hard to get to that first chord. Um, but the bass and the roads sound like they're playing [music] that line there. So, you can you can uh work it out basically for me to play it.
Sorry, [music] I missed that last very last note there.
[music] But that's what it sounds like. The bass and the roads are playing. Okay. So, let's check out that main um riff part of that those chords that are playing.
It's basically a B B sus chord, a B flat sus chord, sorry. Um, and we're playing this little uh three note chord.
And then we're moving that up two frets [music] and then we're playing this A flat triad. [music] And we're moving back down.
And there's just a little bit of sliding going on. So it sounds like he's going.
[music] [music] Okay. A little bit more up to tempo.
[music] >> [music] >> Okay, cool. So, that's what's happening in the verses. Um, now there's a uh going to I guess a pre chorus. We've got this uh B flat with C on the bass. This voicing here for two bars and an F minor 7. [music] So on both chords because they're two bars long, usually within the second bar or he'll just do some little variations, arpeggiate the chord a little bit. Um for example, the first time he'll go hold for a bar [music] and then play that little arpeggiated part and then [music] just little things like that. Uh the second time he'll do like >> [music] >> Okay. And um and then we go into this next the next part I guess is a pre chorus part of the pre chorus as well.
And it's just basically doing a B flat and an A add nine [music] and then that little run there. um 68 on D string, same on A, and then the sixth fret on the E string.
Um okay. And then there is the chorus.
And it just sounds like in the chorus he's playing u more of like an octave with with that fourth in there.
>> [music] >> One, two, three, 4. [music] [music] So the first bar it sounds like mainly he's doing two 1 2 and 3 4 and one. And then the next bar he'll just hit it once. 1 2 3 4 1 2 and [music] 3 4 1 2 3 4 Like that kind of thing.
Um, and then coming out of that, you're going to an A flat and then the bass moves to B flat, but we stay on this voicing.
Sometimes I can hear him add that high B flat, [music] but mainly stay there on that A flat triad. And then we're sliding up to it.
this shape, which you've [music] seen before, but it's over an an E flat bass. So, it'll make it a E flat major 7, [music] but he's just playing these three notes.
And then in the next bar, which is really a cool little trick. I I I like it. It's a really cool little trick. And then [music] And then in the next bar, it's a C9. And it's a cool little trick that he does.
He He He holds down those three notes, but he adds the seventh fret, which would be the major third of the C7 chord. So, [music] so that there is the same voicing as [music] you know, you would normally play a C9 or the nine chords are very commonly played with this um chord shape.
If you take the bass off, you've got [music] so it's a it's a cool little trick he just does by adding that one bass note and then to an A flat [music] and then the A flat with a B flat on the bass. [music] So we we hold that A flat triad. And then the very first time he's hitting an E flat to go back into the verse part.
Okay. So that's like most of the song there. Um the outro it does drop a couple of bars um when it's repeating.
So you'll be doing this uh part sort of octave part one.
[music] [music] [music] [music] So once it gets to that C9 chord again, it just repeats back to the to the top to the octave part there. And um there's plenty of little variations there on the outro that I've tried to tap out as close as possible. Um he does little things like [music] so he's barring the third fret and he's doing the second finger [music] like that kind of thing. on uh on the just on that [music] some variations and rhythm on that part, but basically that's um yeah, that that'll be all tabbed out so you can check out those little variations there.
And uh yeah, so there's a solo I transcribed or tried to transcribe the synth solo um as as close as possible.
Maybe we can quickly go through that.
Let me turn on some stuff.
All right. So, let's check out the um a little bit of the synth solo. Um I guess I'll just slowly play through it and um you can see what fingers I'm using and all of that and and then just yeah, have a go. I mean, it's not a guitar solo, but it's kind of fun to know what what it is. Okay, so here we go.
[music] >> [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] >> Okay, cool. So, I hope you enjoyed that.
It's a mad little riff. Um, and it's really fun to play along. It's mad groove. Really cool. Really cool groove.
So, anyway, I hope you have a great day.
I will see you in the next one. Thank you.
