Emotional Separation Matters for Men

[00:00:00]And one of the things I specialize in is mother in meshment. In fact, my opinion is that mother in meshment is probably the root of almost every single issue we face as men.

[00:00:12]Now, what does that mean?

[00:00:14]Mother in meshment is where there's no separation or separate sense of self outside of the emotional fusion with the mother.

[00:00:24]This is very important because back in tribal culture in almost our entire existence, as far as it can go back we have been given initiations and rites of passage.

[00:00:37]Rites of passage are from becoming a boy to moving into manhood. An initiation was purposefully built for one thing.

[00:00:46]That was to teach boys about emotions.

[00:00:50]Not in the popular culture sense or the popular psychology sense but to teach us how not to fold and succumb to our emotions.

[00:00:59]That emotion mainly being around fear.

[00:01:02]Why this is so important is because as a man you are meant to overcome your fears.

[00:01:08]If you didn't complete the task in tribes, what would happen is you would not be allowed to ever try to become a man again.

[00:01:16]Why?

[00:01:17]Because you'd be seen as unreliable.

[00:01:19]And in tribes where the survival of the tribe is predicated upon reliability and the strength of men they wouldn't be able to rely on you.
