Did Disney REALLY Use AI to Make Ozzy Fox?

[00:00:00]A new Disney Junior show titled Aussie Fox has been the star of controversy as of late due to claims that the show was made with AI. I've seen a lot of debates online about this with some people saying AI was only used to assist with the animation, while others claim the entire show was generated by AI. But today, I'm going to look at what we actually know about Aussie Fox's production, what Animaj has said about AI, and whether the evidence really supports the claim that the entire show was made with AI. Now first, what in the world is Aussie Fox? Well, I don't blame you for asking because this show had no promotion or marketing leading up to its release. Aussie Fox is a musical show designed to help kids complete daily tasks through songs. As of July 19th, only two episodes have been released with one focusing on using the bathroom and the other focusing on cleaning up toys in the style of floor is lava. The show was created by Jennifer Oxley and developed by Jeronimo Garcia Carci. I'm sorry. With the former being known for making Wonder Pets, Pig + Cat, and Little Bill, while the latter is known for Piyo-ko. So on the surface, it looks like a pretty standard preschool musical, but that's exactly where the controversy begins. And honestly, I can see why people started questioning it.

[00:01:14]Animaj has openly talked about using AI tools, so when people heard they worked on a Disney show, a lot of people immediately assumed the worst. But there's a big difference between AI assisted animation and a show being completely made by AI. The show was animated by Animaj. Oh my gosh, I still cannot pronounce that right. An animation company that has been very open about using AI tools in their production process. This statement from Cartoon Brew points out, "Animaj is pioneering a new category of studios where data informs creation, AI accelerates production, and distribution is built in from day one." says the company on its official LinkedIn page.

[00:01:50]The company brags that it reaches over 240 million kids monthly on YouTube using shorts and animated cartoons produced with this proprietary AI-powered digital-first production model. This definitely shows that Animal Logic is interested in using AI as part of their process. However, it doesn't automatically mean every project they work on is completely made with AI. You see, Animal Logic introduced a tool called Sketch to Motion in November 2024, which is designed to help animators speed up the animation process. Basically, instead of animators having to manually create every little movement, this tool can help fill in the gaps between poses. Of course, they still have to go in and fix any mistakes the AI makes, but this process takes much less time than it used to. As Stimesnap stated in his video, this tool was also used for Pinocchio.

[00:02:39]>> Or Poyoco? Oh my gosh, I can This is the type of technology Animal Logic has developed, and it's possible tools like this were used in the production of Aussie Fox. Now, that leaves the biggest question everyone's asking. Is this show AI-generated? Well, based on the evidence we have right now, there's no reason to believe that it is. Here's why. First off, while generative AI has advanced over the last few years and can make short videos, it still isn't at the point where it can make full-on animated episodes and movies. Take a look at for example. You can see just how inconsistent the character and background designs can be. If this show were completely AI-generated, you would expect to see more noticeable errors and inconsistencies that are common with AI-generated content. Now, it's important to remember that neither Disney nor Animal Logic themselves have confirmed how much AI was used for this show, so I can't really say for sure how much was involved. I would say that while AI may have assisted with parts of the animation process, there's currently no evidence that the show itself generated by AI. Now, the show just came out a few days ago, so we have yet to hear what Disney or Animal Logic have to say about this AI debate, but let me know in the comments what you think about all of this.
