The Brain Science of a Perfect Soccer Play

[00:00:00]One of my favorite goals of all time is in the 2014 World Cup where James Rodriguez chest the ball and volleys it all the way to top left corner making it impossible for the goalkeeper to reach.

[00:00:12]Think about all the actions that he had to do to [music] score the goal.

[00:00:16]It looked like all these actions were happening one after another. But in reality, as the brain executes [music] one action, the brain is also preparing the subsequent action that will follow allowing James Rodriguez to perform such a beautiful sequence of actions.

[00:00:34]So what I'm interested in understanding is how this particular brain region is able to store so many different actions and prepare them in a novel scenario.

[00:00:44]And I can't wait to watch James Rodriguez in this year's World Cup where he's going to be met with many new challenges and many new scenarios because whether you're a fan or a neuroscientist, I'm sure he will surprise us all.
