Mecklenburg County sees 12% rise in homelessnessAñadido:
Mecklenburg County, as we mentioned earlier, has seen a 12% rise in homeless people living outside. When you hear that number, what do you think about that?
I'm sorry, I get a little emotional because it's heartbreaking.
Um we're at a new location and we had a new crowd last night when we served dinner at 5:30 and it was one of our largest crowds. And when you see children and kids, um it's heartbreaking because we're seeing a lot of the larger families with um in the younger mothers with nowhere to go.
Um evictions are on a rise. I seen a family this morning when I was um participating in the AIDS walk and seeing kids carrying, you know, sleeping bags and tents, blankets, babies.
What does that mean for the city of Charlotte when we got so much wealth in the city? Why can't we spread it? And it doesn't mean it has to come to my organization, but help somebody. Help somebody.
