Why is vaginal health important? | Healthy Vagina | Dr Varuna Srinivasan | #ShortsAdded:
Vaginal health extends so much more than that, right? As much [music] as you take care of your nails and your hair, it's so important that you take care of your vagina. And many people don't understand this because it's not taught in schools.
And so, what I mean by that is learning how to take care of it. Uh learning how to clean it. Um [music] understanding the anatomy of your own body. And this is something a lot of people are uncomfortable with is that many people haven't looked at their own vulva or their own vagina. Even outside of that, many [music] people don't understand the different parts. Um You know, what is the difference [music] even between a vulva and a vagina?
They don't understand um the smells that come out of it and that even just a >> [music] >> you know, it's always going to have a bit of an odor.
And they don't understand or they don't seem to know [music] if discharge is a good thing or a bad thing. And so, vaginal health is so important that people understand what is your vagina do, [music] right? That's what vaginal health is. What is your vagina do? How does your vagina behave? What color is your discharge? [music] Um how often do you clean it? Um how often do you need to go for a checkup, Pap smear? These are things that can contribute [music] to overall health, right? We think about we only go to the doctor when we think about fertility [music] or when we when things get really, really bad. Or we might have PCOS or we might have, you know, early signs of [music] uh cervical cancer or uterine cancer.
But vaginal health is something that everybody should be taking [music] care of even from before puberty. So, I really One of the things that I will continue to advocate for >> [music] >> is that everyone should take care of their vaginal health.
