Modern society creates an illusion of constant urgency and competition where people tie their self-worth to productivity and achievement, but this 'race' is fundamentally meaningless because happiness is temporary, life involves inherent suffering, and there is no universal timeline for success; true fulfillment comes from giving oneself permission to rest, being present, and recognizing that we are all equally valuable regardless of our accomplishments.

Everyone is sprinting towards nothing.Added:
I constantly catch myself rushing all the time. And you know, it's even the most basic stuff like washing the dishes. It's like I'm I'm competing against who who can do it the fastest.
But like why why are we all rushing towards nothing? Like literally nothing.
What will happen if I I do the dishes like one second faster or if I'm crossing the road one second before the light turns green? Like why?
And it feels like there aren't a lot of people who stop and analyze what they're actually doing.
So I feel like I'm crazy and nobody nobody's seeing what I'm seeing.
You know, it's it's irritating because it feels like in this society your worth is tied to how much you have done in a day.
And if you if you haven't if you rest then you are a loser. you're lazy and you should do something with your life.
But like what difference does it make if I if I check my whole to-do list or if I don't check anything?
I I don't understand how my worth is tied to a list of things to do. It doesn't make any sense.
And if you if you would ask yourself like who am I? I don't think you would answer that you are a to-do list. So like why are we pretending that we are just machines?
Machines work in that way that they operate and then they break.
So why are we trying to be like machines? I I don't know. I think it's because we are so terrified of what happens if we stop the race because that's when all of the feelings hit you at once and it's really uncomfortable. So we are running away from that feeling because that's when the loneliness hits you. That's when your true inner feelings about yourself comes up and it's terrifying.
We are really terrified of meeting our own self.
But if we don't then are you are you truly living?
I I don't think so. Because when we are rushing, we are not connected with ourself.
We are not in tune with our body. We don't know what we are feeling. We can't live in the present moment.
So we are not really experiencing anything. We are just chasing milestones all the time.
But that won't make you happy.
If if you achieve something that becomes your new baseline. So you feel like you always have to chase something bigger and bigger and more and more to feel that feeling again.
But the the truth is we are we are doing this race just because we we think that it will lead to this feeling of constant happiness.
But that goes against everything that life is about because life is suffering.
There is no life without suffering because we happiness is just a temporary feeling.
It's it's like all of the feelings like every feeling is just temporary.
Everyone will pass eventually and they will come again and again. So you will you will feel happiness as much as you feel you know sadness and anxiety because everything passes and everything will come again. So you will never get rid of anything. You will never get rid of happiness. You will never get rid of sadness. They are a part of the humankind.
So why are we trying to achieve something that literally is impossible to achieve?
And the whole society is built up on this imaginary world of happiness that doesn't exist. And I'm tired of it.
I'm tired of living that way because if you don't live that way, then you are behind.
You are a loser. You are lazy. You are wasting your youth. You're wasting your years.
And have you noticed that every time that we speak to people, it's always like what do you do in life? It's always what have you what have you done in life?
What where have you traveled to? It's always we always talk about these achievements.
We never have really like deep one-on-one conversations like how we are feeling about the world, how we are feeling deep inside. And I'm not saying that every conversation should be deep and philosophical. No, of course.
But it it feels like people are avoiding those topics and I'm done with it. I want to speak about them. I want to speak about how society truly is because it feels like everyone is so afraid, so afraid of feeling what reality really is. We're all avoiding everything, but we feel it deep inside.
And maybe it's also because of technology. We feel like we constantly have to answer every text immediately or you know within a time span or else we are bad people because we are ghosting them or we are playing this social game.
It's exhausting. It's exhausting to live in this society with all of these rules.
Like I I just want to Why can't we all just be? Why can't we just let everyone do their own thing and stop judging everyone and stop trying to optimize everything?
We can't just have a hobby anymore.
Everything needs to be monetized or turned into a business.
And yeah, I feel like that as well. We we are all affected by each other.
It feels like you can't do something just for the fun of it or just for your own entertainment. It's always like well what's the reason that you are doing it? What do you want out of it?
But sometimes it's just peace. You just want peace of mind. And everything doesn't have to be optimized.
You are allowed to rest. You are allowed to just do something because you think it's fun.
Because we it feels like we are chasing success and all of this because we we are chasing permission to to rest.
We think that if if I achieve this goal, then I'm allowed to finally rest. But that's not true.
In order for you to to enjoy your life, you need rest.
You need to be a bit selfish about your own energy and say no to things and, you know, not constantly be available and optimize yourself. Sometimes you just need to take a break and that's fine. It doesn't make you a loser. It doesn't make you fall behind because what even is falling behind?
Falling behind who?
Because there is no timeline and we are all chasing a specific timeline like you should you should marry at 25, you should have kids by this age, you should this and that. And oh my god, it's it's too much. Like we are driving ourselves insane because we are comparing ourselves to imaginary people because there exists no timeline.
And like we are all just exactly the same. We're all built on atoms essentially.
We are just stardust.
We are nothing more than just particles floating in space. So what even is the meaning of anything that we are trying to do?
Everything doesn't have to be so damn serious all the time. Why can't we just allow ourselves to just be and just see where life goes? Why are we so scared of everything?
Jesus, we are all so such perfectionists.
perfectionists.
Like we are so afraid of messing up and like who cares? I just messed up that word. Who cares?
I'm not going to edit it out. I don't care. You can judge me if you want. Like we are making ourselves sick because when we are stressing our nervous system is like wired all the time. It's constantly vigilant and you know looking out for threats and your your immune system is constantly like activated or shut down.
So your body can't like heal itself when you are stressed and you will make your yourself sick.
And I am a victim of that. I have made myself sick many times back in the day.
Like I have made myself go to the hospital two times. And one time I had to stay for a whole week because I had such bad stomach pains because I was extremely stressed.
And I didn't know it at the time because I was so brainwashed off the society. I thought it was normal to stress. I thought that made me valuable, which is sad. But I I genuinely thought that I was stronger and better than everyone else because I was stressing more than them.
I was trying to fit in as many things in my day as possible, but I ended up a week in the hospital.
So, who was the loser? Yeah, me. I was not better than them.
No, I was not a loser, but you know, I was not better than them. So, and what happens when let's say if you would win the race, let's just say that that thing exists.
What would happen?
you would get even more things to do and you would be needing to run even faster.
So, we can never escape this race. We we just have to give ourselves permission to rest and to just be and see that this is just a collective hallucination and that happiness is it will come and it will go. So we don't have to chase it because we will feel it inevitably in our lives. So we just have to figure out what we want to be doing with our life. What makes us feel fulfilled, what makes us like not wanting to end our lives. And yeah, we have to realize that we are not falling behind. Never.
No matter what people say, we are never falling behind. And we have to choose to just finally exist.
And it's not about how fast you go. It's it's about how well you live.
And with that being said, I'm leaving you here today. So please share your story about how you view this whole topic. What's your experience? I would love to know and I'm sure that it will help me find ways through this life and it will certainly help other people in the comments.
