Origen, a third-century Christian theologian, interpreted the Hebrew term 'Kiron' (a shortened form of 'Yahweh') in Psalm 2 as referring specifically to God the Father rather than Jesus, arguing that the Father is the one 'sitting in the heavens' and 'laughing' at the nations, while Jesus is the 'Lord' who was made; this distinction was significant because in later mainstream Trinitarian theology, all three persons of the Trinity share the same divine name (Yud Vave), whereas Origen maintained a clear separation between the Father and the Son.

Origen’s Revelation: God the Father vs. Jesus Distinction - NehemiasWall.comAdded:
All right, let's look at what we have here.
>> I have written already in my publications.
>> Wow.
>> So, here we have an origin script for example that says here in the in Psalm 2 Psalm and verse4 you see in your in your Bibles you see Kirion the Lord but uh is used here the Lord Kirion the shortened form a nomen sacum instead of Yao. So origin explains that when he starts explaining the book of psalms in the early chapters that here when you see kiron keep in mind that in the original is it's god the father and [clears throat] >> when this distinction was lost who is this god god the father the eternal father and who is Jesus the lord the god made him >> so we have to see the context here let me pull up the verse Yes.
>> So it says he who sits in the heavens laughs.
>> The Lord has them in derision.
>> And and so origin is saying that's not Jesus who's sitting in heaven laughing in Psalm 24. Uh probably because he interpreted the whole psalm about Jesus meaning it's it's um he he talked about my you know the son later, right?
Meaning >> so so the father has to be the one in being talked about here. um >> evenological uh interpretation should be made clear who is who.
>> This is really interesting. This is extremely important because the Hebrew doesn't have yud vave here. It has adoni at least this at least the um maseretic text let's say has adoni.
>> And so am I so and maybe so there's two possibilities here. One is that origin had a had a Hebrew text that had y vave.
That's possible. Um or what he's trying to say is when he says Yahoo, he means God the Father as opposed to Yesus.
>> Exactly.
>> Okay. Um in other words, he's not necessarily commenting on what's in the Hebrew text. He's he's saying we need to interpret this Lord as father, >> but that's important because an origin is second century CE.
[snorts] >> Third third >> third. Okay. Third century. Um what's significant about that and I always confuse those dates. Um what's significant about that is in later um mainstream let's say or trinitarian Christian theology all three members of the trinity are yud vave.
>> Yeah. But as far as origin knows, there's Yesus and there's Yao.
