The Trump T1 phone is a classic example of political branding being used to sell rebranded hardware under the guise of patriotism. It exposes the cynical gap between marketing rhetoric and manufacturing reality, prioritizing ideological loyalty over genuine product value.

The NEW Trump Phone Is A JOKE Now People Are LOSING ITHinzugefügt:
I think I might be the first person to have the T1 Trump phone. And this is real, but I want to explain a few things before I walk you through this phone.
First off, why am I doing this? So, I'm a correspondent in NBC News and I cover business and tech and we've been following a lot of the president's business ventures, including those of his family and those of his sons. So, Don Jr. and Eric in June last year announced Trump mobile.
>> Today, we're here to introduce Trump mobile. But then alongside that, they said they'd be selling a hardware uh a handset called the T1 mobile. It was going to be gold. It was going to have the American flag on the back. It was going to be made in the US. And so we, as a test, we decided, all right, let's put $100 of for that deposit down. The phone's $499. And we'll see if this phone ever exists. And August came and went. September came and went. It was supposed to be promised by then.
October, November, December, nothing. I should point out even when we put the $100 deposit down, I got a fraud alert from my company saying, "Is this a charge you really want to go through?"
We were like, "Yes, we want to we want to see this through." January, they said, "We don't have anything for you.
Maybe by the end of the quarter." And then April, we still have nothing. And so, we did a report last week for uh NBC News Now where we reported that the phone still has no signs of existence.
Here we are in May of 2026, and there appears to be no sign of it. There were some FCC documents. The Verge has done some really good reporting on this.
didn't look like it existed. And then the day after that report, I get a phone call from someone that says they're they're working with Trump mobile and they said, "Hey, we're setting out phones to the press. You're going to get one." Oh, okay. Here it is. Here is the long awaited Trump mobile phone.
>> The phone is taller than an iPhone 17 and comes with 512 GB of storage at a relatively cheap $499.
6.78 inch screen wraps around the sides.
Uh, gold back. It's got three cameras, 48 megapixels in the main camera.
There's a American flag on the bottom.
Only 11 stripes, which has been catching a lot of attention on social media, but a charitable reading would be that the 13th stripe is the Trump mobile. Uh, regardless, it runs on Android and it's pretty standard. I mean, playing around with it all day. I made phone calls. I made text messages with an active SIM card that Trumbull provided me. Out of the box, you would need to provide your own SIM card. Um, but it seems to be working fine. And uh, all the apps on here pretty standard in a Google phone.
You'll see the Google Suite, but you'll also see that it comes preloaded with Trump Truth Social. That's his social media platform. But outside of that, this is a fully functional phone. I'm surprised they didn't put Fox News media on there and all these other different platforms and apps and everything else.
Like this is what the new Trump mobile phone is like. I mean, it honestly, and I'm just being objective, I'm biased at this point. Truly, it doesn't look like a terrible phone at at the, you know, baseline of it. Just seems like when you purchase this phone, you're going to get so bombarded with so much bias when you receive it. You're only going to see news from MAGA and the right side of the political scale. You're not going to see anything that's more centralized or unbiased and your entire brain will be fried with just political media news or whatever. All you're going to see is Trump and MAGA and everything is great, make America great versus actually what the phone is baseline to be used for.
But if you're a potential buyer of this phone, I'm sure that's what you want anyways. Like that's just what it is.
But anyways, this is the new Trump phone. And I I guess my point of view is I I didn't know this was even I guess legal. like how can a sitting president of the United States profit off of the American citizens with a new product?
And I know this is technically not his product. This is uh his son's product, but regardless, how are they able to profit off the name, off of the the likeness of the president him? I mean, don't get me wrong, there has been familiar, you know, uh clothing brands and all these different things off of previous presidents, but an entire product, an entire phone, it's crazy. I don't y'all can, you know, make your opinions of that in the comment section below. It just seems like this is another, you know, system to generate billions and billions of dollars because that's ultimately what this whole campaign has been about. He's a businessman, remember, right? It's about making more money for him and his buddies and all his friends around him.
Is it's just it's crazy. But we just don't have enough money for health care.
We don't have money to lower the grocery prices. We don't have money for, you know, lower grocery prices and gas prices and all these different things, but we do have money for a Trump phone or a uh to to pay Congress more or to, you know, create a fund to bail out people who were uh I guess wronged by the Biden administration. All these different things. These are the things that I don't fundamentally understand how we allow these different things to happen. But at the same time, I'm not in charge. I'm not a politician. I'm just here giving commentary and asking questions because I'm genuinely curious out of some of these different things.
But anyways, let's finish the rest of this video, guys.
>> Pretty all right. It's a little bit bigger than your standard iPhone. This is an iPhone 11 here.
We think this is a repackaged phone of some other sort because again, they said it was going to be made in the USA.
There are FTC implications behind that.
You cannot say that something is made in the USA if most of its parts do not come from the USA. You will not see a mention of made in the USA on the website anymore. on the box. The only thing you will see is proudly assembled in the US, which also has FTC implications, but it just means that as long as it is substantially transformed in the US, even if it uses parts from abroad, it could still be build as assembled in the US, not made in the US. That might be a workaround. But that kind of reinforces that this phone is probably a repackaged version of something else. Uh there was reporting out there maybe it was a Chinese phone, but the folks I spoke to said this is probably an HTC U24 Pro.
>> Looks very similar. It has a very distinct shape.
>> Yeah, that does look really similar.
>> Almost identical. So far, >> we're not set up for a mid-range kind of mid-budget phone to be made in that in that way here in the United States.
>> If I had to put money on it, I would say that's the HTC U24 Pro. So, it's possible. HTC did not respond to our request for comment. Trim Mobile did not uh respond to our request about where this came from. Uh if it is a repackaged phone, how many pre-orders were actually put in for this thing, we don't know.
But what we do know is that the Trump T1 phone does exist. Yeah. And that's after months of people, you know, complaining about the situation. I I knew they were eventually going to come out with it. I I I didn't see them just taking all this money and and not give well I mean you can't put anything past anybody at this point but truly I I knew that eventually would have come however what they preach about is oh made in America bring manufacturing to America but you make a phone in China and this is all alleged but more than likely it was made within the the country of China more than likely because it's it's cheaper you have to make a profit you know you can you're not going to make profit if you build it in America according to what they say you know you want to create jobs But, you know, it's it's all this is just game and face, saving face and and our whatever PR, whatever you want to call it, just to get your vote at the end of the day and support them and make them more and more money in my eyes.
That's truly how I see it. But let's check this one out right here, guys.
>> This is the T1 phone is made for Americans that they kind of got the American flag on.
So far, no vapors or anything have come out of the box.
You actually get a wall charger and it's a clear case.
They got the stars right. The stripes, however, that represent the 13 colonies.
Well, kind of missing a couple.
T1, it's on Android.
back is plastic. It's got a camera oval with three cameras in it. And this is called a waterfall screen where it curves around the side. We saw a lot of these in like Samsung phones like five or six years ago. And then you kind of have the the joint where the screen meets the body. So this is kind of has like almost like a an apex to it. So you have like our volume rocker here and of course the power button there. Our headphone jack. So far looks like our standard Android apps. A lot of Google stuff. Doctrity. That's not a usual app.
This app is called Truth Social. I've not used it before, but I believe it's a social media network.
It has the date and time. And on the left side, it has the T1 phone logo.
It's on all the photos I've taken.
>> Of course, >> it's real. We have it. We did place a pre-order and Trump mobile did expedite our order because we rcnet.com.
I hope that other people who pre-ordered it and who are not media outlets will also get their pre-orders. Yeah, because if not, that would suck. And they're not actually going to ship it to all these customers.
>> Yeah. And they're giving it to the media avenues because they're going to report on this and get them ultimately more sales. But my take on it is, and I always try to be unbiased and objective about a lot of these situations. It doesn't look like a terrible phone. I'm gonna be honest with you. Even though it's not my my cup of tea. I'm not about to go out and buy a Trump phone or whatever. It's not my speed. However, it doesn't look like the worst phone in the world. I I saw some videos. They were very extreme. They were saying it's trash. It's garbage. I wouldn't buy it because of what it stands. And you know, I don't support the administration because of some of the things that they do. Doesn't mean that I hate them. I just don't, you know, support them. But it's not a bad phone. Let's be honest.
It's not a bad, you know, it looks clean. It's a sleek design. It's gold. I mean, is it looks better than some of the phones I've seen out there. I just don't agree with what it implicates behind like what are the implications behind it? You know, what it stands for, all these different things. I don't agree with that. But anyways, this is what's going on right now within the country of the United States. Y'all let me know what y'all think about this down in the comment section below.
