ADV 160 Ride to a Filipino Riverside BBQ: This Isn't What I ExpectedAdded:
I thought I was going for a ride but this turned into something else entirely a river a barbecue karaoke echoing through the trees and one of those moments where you realize you're not just visiting a place anymore you're starting to feel it I should have gone round still learning >> [music] [music] [music] >> I got invited out by Jersey mate up to a place called [music] Can Yocan river picnic area so big thanks to Jersey mate for the invite really appreciate it and I've actually been using one of their Jersey for quite a while and it's been solid I didn't record much live audio on this one so I'm going to tell this part as voiceover but today wasn't really about that I thought it would just be a simple ride out and look around and then head back >> [music] >> but in the Philippines things don't really work like that the further you go the more it changes the city noise drops away [music] the air shifts and you start to feel like you're heading somewhere a bit more real Can Yocan and then you arrive Can Yocan and it's not a destination in the way we think of it it's people families food on the grill music playing somewhere in the background and of course karaoke because no Filipino gathering is complete without somebody holding a microphone and it's not about being good it's about being part of it everyone's laughing joining in and somehow it just works There's something about this it's simple but it's not small it feels connected back in the UK moments like this well they feel organized planned here they just happen you get invited you show up and suddenly you're sitting in a river eating food you didn't cook surrounded by people you met an hour ago and it feels totally normal that's the part that's hard to explain it's not just the place it's how people live in it I almost didn't come on this ride and usually when you feel like that it means you probably need it the most and sometimes it's not the plan or the destination it's just saying yes and seeing where it takes you This is bets unpacked and I'll see you on the next one
