Global geopolitical tensions, such as conflicts in West Asia and disruptions at strategic maritime chokepoints like the Strait of Hormuz, can trigger significant domestic fuel price increases, disproportionately affecting middle-class households and daily commuters who rely on vehicles for their livelihoods.

Fuel Prices Hiked Twice In A Week | Petrol & Diesel Surge Amid West Asia Crisis & Hormuz FearsAñadido:
It is another crude blow for the aam aadmi.
Fuel prices have been hiked for the second time in less than a week.
>> [music] >> The petrol and diesel prices have gone [music] up by about 4 rupees.
This time petrol and diesel prices were raised by about 90 paise per liter.
>> [music] >> The latest revision comes days after fuel prices were raised by 3 rupees per liter [music] on Friday.
The increase in fuel prices are linked to the ongoing West Asia conflict and disruptions around the Strait of Hormuz.
>> [music] [music] >> In Delhi, petrol now costs 98.64 rupees per liter, up from 97.77 rupees, while diesel has increased to rupees 91.58 from 90.67 rupees.
You'll have to end up spending 98 rupees 64 paisa depending on which petrol pump you are going to for every liter of petrol that you fill in your vehicle for for a diesel vehicle, you will have to spend 91 rupees 58 paisa per liter. So, there's 91 paisa of increment in that particular regard. Now, the people in general were sort of prepared for this situation to unfold.
Even though I'm working for the government only, but these people are relentless. They won't allow In Mumbai, petrol rose by 91 paise to 107.59 rupees per liter and diesel by 94 paise to 94.08 rupees.
I'm right now at a petrol pump in South Mumbai. The availability of petrol is certainly there, but the fuel is there, but then the prices increased. Let me try speaking to some people. Sir, the price rise has gone up again 91 paise for the second time in 5 5 days.
Will it impact your budget?
>> Of course.
Everyone.
But then you're still filling it up. I would have still still have to fill it. You need to fill it. Yeah, yeah. Everything will be getting this thing on. As long as it is available, you think you should get it?
Yeah.
I think we should have public transport most of the time. We have to.
Diesel in Karnataka hiked to 95.04 rupees per liter and petrol hiked to 107.12 rupees per liter.
This particular price hike has made huge damage to the pockets of common man, especially middle class people who have to refill on a daily basis, especially day-to-day workers and gig workers. And many of them use the vehicles for multiple purpose. Let us go and ask them how it is going to affect them. The prices of fuel has been increased. How it is affecting you? Well, you see, we understand why this happened.
So, we are not objecting. I mean, I don't [music] think that they have any control over it.
In Chennai, petrol prices went up by 82 paise to 104.49 rupees per liter and diesel increased by 86 paise to 96.11 rupees per liter.
We're currently here in Chennai at one of the petrol pumps where as of now petrol stands at a price of rupees 104 per liter and diesel at 96 rupees per liter. In fact, the Prime Minister led has also alerted public to be cautious as well after the central government has issued several directives following the petrol and diesel prices being hiked by over 90 paise per liter making it the second fuel price increase in less than a week following the end of a nearly 4-year freeze by the state-run oil companies.
>> [music] >> Amid the rise in fuel prices, government maintains that there is no shortage of fuel and India has adequate energy supplies.
But the continuous hike in petrol and diesel continue to burn a hole in the common man's pocket.
