Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) devices can reveal individual blood sugar responses to foods that may differ significantly from general population guidelines, demonstrating that foods considered healthy by conventional standards (like rice, pasta, and even berries) can cause substantial blood sugar spikes in some individuals, making personal testing essential for understanding one's unique metabolic responses.

📈 But Did You Die?Added:
So good morning friends. Welcome to Appalach's Homestead. Going to drop off another video for you today. I actually already tried Give me a hug. I tried to film the video walking around up here.
And um there's two distractions right now. My toms are really active with wanting to fight with each other.
And as I was filming, they were trying to posture with each other. Um they may have been trying to posture with me because they're just in a fighting mode.
But I didn't get flogged or pecked or anything. And they were they're they're fighting with each other a lot. And I tried to move and they kept going where I went and then they would circle around with each other. And there's that. And then number two, when I um work along this line right here, um sometimes a tick will show up.
Y'all asking about them ticks. I may make another video about that. Um there we're Blood suckers of all sorts are just really bad. So, I said to heck with it and I've come back to the car and turned it back on. The air condition is on low because I want to talk to you about this. Give me a hug. Please pray for East Tennessee and western North Carolina right now. There are areas that are literally uh in catastro catastrophic um flash flooding right now. My area is not. Although we've had so much rain over the last week or so, it's not even funny. We're It's questionable what it's about to do. as I as I make this video.
Um hopefully we won't get anything today because I think tomorrow into Saturday we are Saturday is supposed to be all day rain again.
So please pray and uh and uh thank you for for that. And those of you out there in all of this um we're praying for you.
Okay. I I know I I know um this is not typical end of May weather for East Tennessee and western North Carolina.
Some rain. Sure.
10 days of rain or whatever. No, that's that's that's not normal. Um, so here's the deal. I'm going to cut to the chase because I've already found out that I can be long- winded about this and I know that you want me to get to the points when I make videos. So, I'm going to try my best. So, here I want to show you. Hang on just a second. If you've been watching over the past couple of days or you've seen some of my posts, you will know that I am wearing a continuous glucose monitor. I got it from Amazon. I did not need to use my insurance in order to get it. It is the Stello. And yes, I am also using in conjunction with it, I am using my Keto Mojo uh finger prick and monitor. So, I'm actually watching this on the monitor and um not I'm doing that to see trend and to see spikes. I'm trying to figure out what foods certain foods do to me.
Um, I've been wanting to do this for a while. I've talked about it. Um, so that's what I'm doing right now. Um, but in addition to that, I'm also doing the active fring finger fringinger finger pricks uh, and actually monitor uh, taking the level straight from my blood um, multiple times. I think I ended up doing it like six times yesterday because I wanted to see how close I I've been doing it because I've been wanting to see um how far apart the levels are from one monitor to the other. I know this one is more accurate. Um and then just just just to see that. So I'm finding out I will tell you if you get this this monitor James was about the same way. I think he said um he I think he said 25 points when he did it and he was he did great with his full carnivore on it. Never had but one real one spike and that was when he was stressed at the dentist. It wasn't even food related. Um so you find all of that out. You see these trends. But he would prick his finger and he would watch this and after a couple of days he realized, okay, I'm pretty much seeing a spread of about 25 points. What I mean by that is is the the glucose monitor for him, the one on his arm was always showing a number higher about 20 to 25 points or something like that um than what his blood would tell him. The thing is is he still didn't he only went over 140 one time. So, if you take the idea of a a recovering diet, a reversal, a recovering diabetic or one that has reversed diabetes and he only hit 140 even with food, not it wasn't even food related. Uh, he went over 140 one time and it was when he was at the dentist.
So, you take away say 20 points, he really was only about 120. So, his sugar has come way down. I hope I explained that right. I'm kind of doing the same thing. I'm somewhere around 21 to 25 points. Sometimes, um, it's been 17 points. So, I'm just kind of thinking on average, if I if I'm watching the monitor from my arm, but I can't get to the the finger prick, like last night, for example, you'll hear about that in a minute. I know there's probably a good 20 around a 20 point spread.
Again, the thing on my arm is to notice on my phone because it continually tell it updates like every like 15 minutes or whatever. It it and it shows me what I'm doing. Okay? Instead of me going in there and pricking my finger every 5 to 15 minutes, this is giving me information, but I am trying to verify more specifically with the finger pricks. So, if you're going to do this, I'm going to suggest to you that you have something available that you can actually see your true blood level. And watch this. There are other um you can get monitors through, you may have one, you can get them through there's other brands that are supposed to even be better that you can get through insurance and or through a doctor's prescription. I did not do that. Okay, understand what I'm doing here. So, I hope I explained that. So, I wanted to test trends. Um, I know for a fact that when I started my elimination diet that I would at times try something and it would make me feel bad and you know, people were like, "Ah, yeah, you're just being sensitive." And I'm like, "No, I don't think I am."
Understand that when you start this elimination process and when you start to see things, there will there likely could be people that think that you're crazy or talk to you like you're crazy.
You're not crazy, let me tell you. Just keep listening. Um, if you are worried, you need to stop worrying so much about nuclear war or an economic collapse or what any political regime or administration is doing at this point.
Until you understand the number one thing harming and or ending you is exactly what you're eating.
You can say I'm crunchy. You can say I'm crazy. But proof is in the pudding. And I'm seeing it more and more. And last night really hit home. Okay, I'm telling you right now, all those other things are valid to discuss or be concerned about, but until you understand what's happening, your health is going to kill you before anything else does. At this point, you we can discuss conspiracy theories and what's being done on purpose, but whatever. Here's the beauty about this whole thing. You have so much control over this situation and that is empowerment and this is why I'm talking about it. So I decided last night after we went to Krav Magaw because my our schedules got off.
I'm not going to get into talking about intermittent fasting or putting things in a refrigerator or I want to I've been wanting to see what I do for a couple of days with how I eat. Gather that information. get my numbers and then I wanted to take a couple of opportunities to purposely test a few things that I suspect were killing me.
It's a collective thing, right? I'm just going to be blunt. So, I figured out over the last nine months to a year that in a massive elimination diet, notice I'm not even saying carnivore or keto.
I'm just saying a massive elimination diet. when I took out ultrarocessed, uh, when I took out a lot of obvious carbs, when I took out zero fast food, uh, other than maybe a chicken breast or something like that, non-breeded, you know, if you when I really hit hard after a while and then I tried to just maybe I'll try this, it would floor me, rice was pro rice and pasta appear to be my nemesis. Okay. It always was.
I didn't know it. And that's why I'm saying to you, you many of you may not know it. You may not know it. I I encourage you to go on the journey that I'm on. Even if you're like, I don't want to be carnivore. Don't don't be carnivore. Don't be keto. But I think if you invest a little bit of money and time, and you may not even have to invest that much money, and you're willing to see the reality of what foods are doing to you, and you're not even seeing your insulin or insulin resistance and all of that stuff, you're just seeing your blood sugar or and possibly your ketones, you're going to be folks, it's killing you faster than anything else out there. Why are you worried about ticks if you're not worried about what you're putting in your mouth today?
I I I what? What? I said it. So, I ate rice last night with chicken and it was later because I and I didn't like that at all cuz I'm I've been in ketosis and it's it's kicking me out. It's kicked me out. It has to have kicked me pretty hard. Um and I'm going to have to come back from that. But I need to get I need to see this. So we after Croft McGall last night, I told James, I said, "I want to go over here and I want to get their rice and their chicken." James was like, "Okay, I'm just eating meat. May not be the best meat, but I'm just going to eat the meat and we're going to sit down and we're going to watch what this does to you." See, James wanted to wear his glucose monitor so that he could come off of his um he he was already in carnivore, so he wanted to put it on, see watch how steady he was or was not.
And it was unbelievable how low and steady he was, which allowed him on like day three, that's when he came off of his last diabetic medication. And then he was watching to see the trend for x amount of days going forward to understand does he need medication anymore. So his goal with the glucose monitor and the finger pricks while typ are technically the same the outcome was different. He was looking for can I come off medication safely and he did and he has no return. me. I want to know what drives me bananas cuz it explains what's probably driving everyone bananas. And you're eating it multiple times a day.
This is why we're sick. So, I ate the rice. I ate about a cup of u it was fried rice and um just plain chicken.
And I was trying to, you know, I was like, I'm going to make sure I eat my chicken and my protein, but I'm going to do something that I know I did in the past who knows how many times. And I would eat like a cup of rice. I'm going to tell you right now, I love rice. I love all types of rice every which way.
Is it still in my prepper pantry? Better believe it is. We're not talking about crisis apocalyptic situations. We're talking about day-to-day living right now and understanding what the food supply is doing to us in general or has been doing to us in general. It's education. In 25 minutes, according to my glucose monitor, I went from like 105. Now, remember, it's it is higher than probably what I am. I wasn't I didn't have my blood thingamajiggy in the restaurant, Jame. And I I worried about that. James said, "Don't worry about that." He said, "Where are you at right now? You and let's look at it.
This is where you've been. It's probably a little high because you just did a bunch of cravah." I was like, "Yes, because my because it does go up after activity when I work the barn, if I'm in the heat, if I lift weights, I do get a I do get a natural spike. My ketones come down a little bit. I've already I already know all this. All of it's documented."
So, I was like, "Well, 105 on this monitor is actually not that bad." He said, "Right." He said, "You're probably 85 to 90, something like that." He said, "So, you're where you need to be." He said, "Let's just see what you do."
He said, ' Don't stress about it. I was like, "Okay, you're right."
Within 25 minutes of eating, and I really didn't eat that crazy much. I mean, I ate about I don't know, I ate about a cup of rice, and I ate several several good bites of the chicken.
According to my glucose monitor, I went up, it was 60, either 66 or 68 points.
I went up to like 173. Like, it just went, it was down here, and it went boom.
James was James looked over at me and he went, "Holy crap." I said, "Right." See, he's See, I've never seen that. It's not that I didn't believe it. It's not that he didn't believe it. It's that you have to see it.
Doesn't matter how healthy uh uh uh you are or what they tell you uh uh uh you can eat with in moderation.
That's what it did to my body. Not only that, when I got home, it wouldn't come down.
So, it's not like it went up, hung around for like, you know, 10, 15, 20 minutes and and then it started No, no, no, no. It hung up. It hung there up in that zone way high for like two hours. I got a headache.
Fatigue hit me like a Mac truck. Now, somebody's going to say, "Well, it was later. It was bedtime. You worked your farm. It's hot. You did crav magga."
True.
No, no, no. I'm not saying I was like, "Okay, it's time to chill it out, turn it off, go to bed, take a shower, end the day. Yeah, I'm tired." No. It was like I was becoming dysfunctional.
You know, when they tell you people had the you get that slump and sometimes you're just you have to lay down because it's just dysfunction. What did you eat earlier in the day? What have you eaten?
Folks, I'm going to tell you right now, it scared me. I I call me dramatic, whatever. But here's why it scared me.
How many times in my life in my I as a kid I don't know as a teenager I don't know I was fit and skinny and running around but I mean just in the last say 15 years 20 years of my life.
How often did I eat something that did that to me? And this is why we are so one of the main reasons why we're so sick because this isn't even showing me my insulin levels or insulin resistance.
Although I will tell you, listen to this. I I've not disclosed this until now.
About two years ago, I think I'll have or maybe a year ago because I go to the dermatologist. I try to go to the dermatologist every six months to monitor everything. And it's been at least two times ago. I know that for a fact. I had skin tags.
I had a few small skin tags that had come up underneath my arm. And I told James, I said, I I didn't I I thought it was a thing. I just kind of, you know, I knew what they were and I wasn't stressed about it, but I was afraid I was going to accidentally cut them if by shaving as women most women do. Um, so I I chose to have them removed. Zap, zap, zap, zap, zap. and you know they kind of freeze them and then they fall off within a week and life is over, right?
That their life is over. Well, he didn't get all of them. There was I cuz when I got home and you know kind of stung a little bit and I was like, "Okay, I'm cool though." Um there was two or three still remaining. He he we didn't get all of them. Do you know those suckers are gone? They have fallen off on their own.
So when you see that with Dr. Bos talk about it or these doctors online talk about they will fall off. So, I know I've put myself in a good zone. So, when I go back to doing what I used to do, y'all, I'm telling you right now, you're so super sensitive. But here's the problem. Most people now are so used to eating and living like this. They don't know. You just don't know.
I encourage you to do what I'm doing if you desire it. I don't care what it's not even about me saying I'm going to convince you to go carnivore. Nope.
That's not what I'm doing. I want you to see what food is doing to you and to gather as much information and log it and journal it like I am as possible.
This morning I decided once I got up by 4:00 a.m. my blood sugar was 80. Okay, so I did finally come down felt better.
I was so thirsty last night. It was insane.
I have not been thirsty like that in I don't even know when. James, I took my shower and got into bed and I had a headache and I was like, I'm not taking ibuprofen. I know it's doing this. And it's like all of a sudden I got this wave of like massive thirst. James had to go get me a water. I mean, he was like, I'm up and out here. Do you want me? I was like, yes. And I was like, goo. I mean, and I I did go to sleep. I did sleep okay, but my blood sugar did finally go down, thank God.
Um, but I had Shrek fingers this morning. Remember how I've talked about having swollen Shrek? So, if you have arthritis, what are you eating?
I want to try pasta and I want to try pizza. And I' I've got a couple of days with this one left. I'm like, well, I've already, you know, blown it out butter bean. I might as well just get it over with. I'm a little scared of it. Not scared, that's too extreme. But I I'm anxious about it, but I need to know as well because it validates what I'm doing. It may not be validation for you.
I can't convin I can't convince people to do that. People are not going to change anything unless they want to.
I've had a couple of people say to me, "Well, you were cooking for your husband all those years." Yeah, I was. And there's things that I made that I did, but I I um you know, it's not my journey or my story to tell. That's James'. But James was eating things and going through the drive-thru and eating double meals at work and doing things that I didn't really know about. It's not that he even necessarily kept things a secret, per se. It's just he would eat. He would go to the vending machine. I don't have a vending machine here. I really didn't keep Coca-Cola at the house. I mean, I had some cookies and I would make brownies as a treat.
Yeah. and I would eat good old country biscuits and this and that. Yeah. And all of that is all of that's Yeah, I get it. I I I'll take I take responsibility for all of that.
But to get him to the level that he got, he did that and he had to own that for his own. And that's for him to talk about, not for me. So, I get what you're saying. I know what you're trying to say. I don't deny anything. Um but I know better now. And last year when I said, "I'm not doing this anymore. I'm sorry. You're going to have to find I'm I'm not doing I'm not cooking that. I'm not buying that. I'm doing all of these things. Um, you can come along with me or not. I'm not being ugly, but this is where I'm at. But here's where I am today. So, this morning, um, I waited till after 10:00 cuz I wanted to everything to kind of flush and calm down, right? And at 10:03, I decided to try blackberries and raspberries. And I Googled I did I did the I did what everybody is can do nowadays is I looked up some information. And your blood sugar uh is the average person is supposed to spike have a spike with your blood sugar um anywhere from 15 to 25 points. That's what it says. It's not what mine did. So, I ate my organic blackberries and raspberries that I that you know I might dabble in every day, every other day on my yogurt. I've pulled them back, but I still have them.
Right. Well, guess what?
I spiked I think it was was it 30 35 to 39 points. I've got I I took screenshots of it on my phone.
Yeah, I spiked more than they tell you that you the average person should. So the high side should have been 25 points. I went 10 to 15 points higher than that. I did. Now, the good news is I only stayed there for like I don't know half an hour or so and I did prick my finger so it was accurate um as far as what I saw. So, the trends are true.
Um good thing is is it it started come it started falling which is what you want, right? But my point is is it did more to me than what they tell you it does. That may not be your story. It's Peter's story. But do you know your story? Do you know what's going on with you? Do you know why you have the problems you may have, which you likely do? And are you willing to try to understand it more than what there than you've got to be a mad scientist with yourself? You've got to be willing. If you don't want to stick with it, that's up to you. But I do encourage you to try in however you can when you can. And I would take an honest go at it. I really, really would. I mean, even if you don't change what you're doing right now, if you saw over a 12 to 24 hour period, you know, 7 to 10 days in a row, the things that you eat and the blood spikes, uh, blood sugar spikes that you get, and if it with what I suspect is happening with most people, see, that's what James was talking about. He was like, all these people, including my old self, we were all, he said, you're down here and you went up here. He said, ' Here's the deal. We were up here all the time and then we would stay there or go higher.
Remember my husband's A1C at one point was over 13. Remember my husband weighed 333 lbs.
So I I'm a I'm a bystander to that. And you know, and I tried many many times. You have no idea. It's this is our personal part of our life. I tried many, many times to stop that and I couldn't. He had to do it for himself. All I could do, which God did for me, is flip the switch for me.
And I said, "I can't stop this. I can't stop that. I can't stop what politics are doing. I can't stop what I can't control any of this crap, including people around me. I can only fix me."
And I'm still on that journey. I'm learning.
Maybe this is something I should have known 30 years ago, 20 years ago, but I didn't. And because I was told I was healthy or because I was relatively fit or small or could do a lot of things, I felt I was getting away with stuff.
Probably was not.
Probably was not.
Clearly, I was showing signs of things.
I My face rounded out. I swelled up. I I noticed I couldn't do things and I would try to get on the gerbble wheel of low fat, cut this out, run, cardio, cardio.
And some of that would fix to a point and then it would come back. That's been my story since 2021. And I've shared things about that and I've shown pictures. I just showed a picture the other day. Uh my butt was as wide as my cow. Y'all didn't see that, did you? If you want to have a butt as wide as a cow, then do so. If that's what you feel you're comfortable with, it's not my business. What I'm telling you is not the story is not about necessarily how big my butt was. It was what was going in on inside of me. And I think it was a horrible story. And I think I was about to enter a very, very, very scary time period. That's why I got so rocked last night when I saw that because I s I thought how many times did I do this to myself every day? No wonder I was out of control.
No wonder.
So when God says, you know, and I'm still on this journey, he may be doing it to you, me, and he may be doing it to you, because you're telling a story for others to see, and they need that so they can they can check themselves before they wreck themselves.
Live your life. Do what works best for you. But I'm going to sit here and continue to tell you, I'm absolutely convinced I'm on the right path and I'm learning more and I'm seeing more. And I'm more convinced every single day, no matter what the world tries to push back on me with that I'm on the right path.
I'm not going back.
No way. It's it's a it's a new day. It's a new life. So, I may find out what pasta does to me.
I don't know if it's necessary. I'm not sure it will be as bad as the rice. I mean, rice is so loaded with rice is top the charts loaded with sugar. Bread loaded with sugar. I mean, they're carbs. They're the sugar, y'all. And all the hidden sugars. See, that's what I'm saying. There are things you're doing that you might think are actually good.
And in reality, if you if you who's going to do your math, you you look at it, it may not be that great. It's relative, but it may not be that great.
So, please do the best you can. This is the number. This is why I tell you this is the number one prep in your life right now.
What we are allowing to happen to us in terms of our food and water supply and some of it is not in our control, but we can make better decisions and we can eliminate. If you just go, I'm not doing all that. I'm doing this, this, this, and this.
You've eliminated everything else. Man, what a difference you're going to see in your life. I know we are. And I have full faith you will, too. And I'm praying for you. Love you guys. I hope this video made sense. I said I was going to make it short, but it's not short. And those that want to stick around to hear it are going to hear it.
And for those that are uh that God wants to impact with with it, if it doesn't any if even it's just one person, it will. That's the best I can do today. Um but we'll see where it goes. I love you.
I'm so thankful for you and um this is the number one prep for for you the future, your family tree, more so than anything else you can do right now.
I I'm really serious. It it it really really is. If you are not healthy enough to prepare to go milk a goat or to to plant if you want your tomatoes, if you can't get up out of the chair to go do these things day by day, what difference does it make?
In the end, you're very important.
Your willingness and your skill sets are very important, but you have to be here and be able and want to be here to make it happen. You have that control. I'll see you on the next video.
