The video effectively demonstrates that mass mobilization is the ultimate check on legislative overreach, yet it also highlights the persistent challenge of turning temporary protest into permanent structural reform.

20 years after A Day Without Immigrants, the struggle continues!本站添加:
20 years ago, there was a general strike on May Day and it started right here in California. 2006, there was a horrible racist piece of legislation called the Sensenbrenner bill. It would make it a felony to be undocumented. But in the face of this attack, immigrants fought back. In April, organizers [music] in Los Angeles announced there'd be a day without immigrants on May Day. [music] No school, no work, no shopping. They would show that immigrants make the society run. Then, on May Day, two and a half million people participated in the general strike. They created so much pressure that the people [music] stopped that racist bill. It wasn't the Democrats that prevented that bill from passing. Before the general strike, 36 of them supported [music] it. It was the millions of people who organized, struck, and made it impossible for them to pass that bill.
So, this May Day, join us in continuing the fight. When we organize in the millions, we are unstoppable. [music] That's how we make change. And this campaign is part of that movement.
